It is my pleasure to write a glowing review about our recent stay here... Prior to our arrival, our hostess Kathy, was very helpful, responsive, and professional in handling all aspects of our planning. She was also just as helpful on our arrival day, and available by phone or email should we have needed her while staying at her home. The townhouse itself is exactly as described! It was IMMACULATE upon our arrival, the furnishings are tasteful and well taken care of, and the beds are VERY comfortable.. The views from the 2 balconies and 1 patio are amazing....through the day and into the evening. We spent quite alot of time on the main floor balcony enjoying the sunrises/sunsets over the water each day. We trailered in our 24ft boat and had great instructions on where to launch, park our trailer, and tie up our boat. It was important for us to have access to a dock, and upon returning from skiing, wakeboarding, and tubing, we would jump off the dock into the lake for a final swim each day. We also explored much of the lake from our boat... cruising to the damn, visiting various marinas, finding coves to float in, and eating at waterfront restaurants. We even parked at a marina to play miniature golf! That was quite a hit with the kiddos!! The grocery stores, gas stations, and other stores of convenience were easily accessible for our main shopping, and then things we needed to pick up through the week. Also, we had a tire blowout on our trailer on the way up.... we were able to order and pick up a new tire at a fabulous shop just 15 minutes away! We could not have enjoyed a better trip. Never having visited SML, I feel like we were so fortunate to have found Kathy's home and been able to stay there. We had the BEST time and look forward to returning for many years!!! We are already planning another visit this fall!

This townhouse is a 10+. The views are breathtaking. My favorite spots outdoors was the dock and the balcony on the main floor. The house was very clean and well maintained. The owner is extremely on top of all emails and phone calls.

Beautiful and Breathtaking

This vacation spot was beyond our expectations. Kathy was so great to work with every step of the way. From the first time I inquired until a few days before our visit, she was there to answer questions and go the second mile to insure we had an incredible stay. The townhouse was beautiful and breathtaking. The first night we were there we it was a star filled/full moon night. I think we spent almost an hour just sitting on the balcony looking at the moon reflecting on the lake. It was so peaceful. We were so grateful to have found such a great place to stay. Thank you ever so much for sharing your home with us. We hope to have the opportunity again!

Perfect Location, Charming Townhouse

My husband and I had a wonderful time staying in this townhouse. We were so pleasantly surprised by the owner's graciousness shown toward us. She was very helpful and very courteous. She quickly answered every question we had before and after we decided to rent the house. She sent us detailed information about the place, so we were well-prepared for our stay there. Upon arrival, we found that she even left us a thoughtful gift and card. The townhouse is comfortable and has been well-maintained. We found everything we needed to prepare many meals in the house. The place is smaller than we had expected (pictures just can never give enough detail). In the picture of the living room area, the mirrored wall makes the room seem bigger than it is. That said, the mirror made the room seem bigger in real life, as well. And we found this home to be quite spacious for the two of us. The view of the lake from the living room out over the balcony is excellent. We enjoyed listening to the sound of the water. The weather was mild, and the fall colors were beautiful. We had a fun time observing the scenery from the large dock. The area was just beautiful: uncrowded, scenic, and unique. There is no shortage of things to do in the area. We visited the Hickory Hill Vineyard and Winery (25 minutes away) and experienced a wine tasting hosted by one of the owners. Excellent. The Blue Ridge Folklife Festival (possibly an annual event) was a highlight and definitely worth the drive. Having the Kroger grocery store and various restaurants nearby (15 minutes) was very convenient.

I would like to remind prospective renters that our townhouse has 1800 square feet of living space; about 600 sqare feet on each floor-lots of space to spread out! Also, as part of our annual projects, we will be removing the mirrors to update the Living Room.

Truely Restful and Fun.

The property was well located. The owner walked us through every step of the process. She kept in constant email contact and was always avilible by phone to answer questions. It was very clean and inviting. The views are amazing. We were able to keep our jet ski right at the properties dock. Our five children had no problem keeping busy outside with the swimming area and inside with the games and movies provided in the house. We we able to spread out among the three floors. There was ample room for all of us. We loved to be right on the main channel where all the action is. The property is close to grocery, shopping, ice cream, and the like. The trees offer nice shade but do not hinder the view of the lake. The neighbors were quiet and friendly. There is hill to walk down to the water, which just enhances to views. Coming back up is not to bad even for an out of shape person like me. We are looking forward to renting here again. There was not a thing we disliked we had a great vacation!

I would highly recommend renting this townhouse. My family and I have rented it twice (10/08 and 11/09)and definitely would rent it again in the future. The description and pictures on the website are very accurate. This three-story townhouse is quite spacious, extremely clean and has a wonderful view of the lake. Having three full bathrooms was really nice! Great location…an easy drive to grocery stores, shopping and several restaurants. Working with the owners was great…they were extremely helpful and very nice.

This property is fabulous for a great vacation. The property is very clean, well-maintained, updated, and the townhome is spacious, as well as tastefully decorated. The kitchen is well stocked with a variety of pots/pen, utensils, dishware, and serving dishes. Also, some spices and paper products are available for the renters usage. The view from the townhome to the lake is gorgeous. There is a dock for tenants to use for sunbathing, swimming, or boating. The surrounding area offers a variety of restaurants, to include fast-food eateries. There is a huge, upscale Kroger's grocery store offering up the traditonal fare, as well as many prepared specialty items. We kayaked, rented a pontoon, hiked, and swam. We are looking forward to renting this property again, not just for a summer vacation, but other seasons, as well.

Too Nice to Share With Others

Ever find that idyllic vacation home that you don’t want to tell others about and keep the location just to yourself? Well, here it is!!! But, after we got home, we relented and decided to let others know about this wonderful lakefront property. From first Internet contact, Kathy was always extremely cordial and quick to provide spot on advice about this gorgeous and well decorated three level townhouse and nearby recreational & shopping areas. She emailed extensive descriptions of the property, helpful maps, specifics on stores and dining and other close attractions. She even suggested we get our Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner at the nearby Kroger (so everyone got a vacation) and spent several hours researching nearby Wi-Fi locations for us. We arrived well after dark and as soon as we walked in we could quickly tell that this lovely home was extremely clean and very welcoming. In the morning, as we opened the blinds, we knew we really had found the prefect getaway with the sun rising over the shimmering lake and streaming into our bedrooms. Looking out, we could immediately see the boating/fishing dock less than 150’ away seemingly just waiting for the next Tom Sawyer or Huck Finn to rush down to lower a boat into the water. Although the pictures on the internet helped, once you got inside and looked around at all the upgrades and finishing touches, you realized you got much more than you expected. The kitchen is well equipped. It has lots of new appliances and is a pleasure to work in and yet the open floor plan has everyone nearby by for conversation and extra advice. After relaxing for a day, we spent the next several days exploring and interviewing at many nearby Virginia public colleges. What a great halfway location for three (south, north, and east) points on your college search compass. Even though we wanted to stay another week we unfortunately had to leave by the weekend. We hope to return again soon and also hope most people will ignore this review and never find this totally relaxing and tranquil fall/winter hideaway.

We had a great time. The only problem we had was with the washing machine, it did not want to spin during one of the cycles. We selected another & it worked properly. An extra bonus while we were there was the BASS MASTERS tournament. We got to meet the Pros, see their boats & went to 1 days' weigh-ins. It was something we had never done & was very interesting. Thanks for all you've done and for such a great place!!!
