Step onto the sand from the ocean-facing patio of this two bedroom condo. Located just ten miles south of Santa Barbara, California in the popular resort town of Carpinteria. Sheltered by the Santa Barbara Channel Islands this beach offers lots of white sand and gentle surf. The beach offers safe swimming, sand castle building, surf fishing, clamming, sea shell collecting, and long walks to view sea lions lounging on rocks and dolphins playing beyond the surf.
The town of Carpiteria (Carp to the locals) was founded in 1863 and is noted for its friendliness, small town charm, as well as the agricultural production of avocados, lemons, and flowers. The downtown area is within easy walking distance of the beach and offers a variety of antique, clothing, and a movie theater. Points of interest include historical museum, the worlds largest Tory Pine, the Carp tar pits where the Chumash built their canoes as well as the famous "cook your own steak" Palms Restaurant and a community swimming pool.
Excellent surfing is five minutes away by car. Small boats can be launched off the beach to access ocean fishing. Nearby Santa Barbara offers charter boats for deep sea fishing, scuba diving, or simply viewing the coastline. The airport is 30 minutes away in Santa Barbara and the Amtrak train makes several stops daily in Carp.
Master bedroom has king bed while guest has twins made up as king but can be seperated. If you are adventurous try the outdoor shower down your back stairs.

The ocean view is possible if you tiptoe and bend a little. There was construction going on, on two sides of the master bedroom, from early in the morning. The security gate was not working, and police knocked on our door, concerning a robbery across the hall. At the end of it, we left a very clean place behind, but were charged $50 for losing a remote for the gate (we did not lose it) and accused of using a turkey roasting pan at the communal barbecue, neither of which we touched. Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln....Recommended for: People with disabilities.
Owner response: There was construction going on. The renter was advised that there would be this activity. All work has been completed as of 10/2008. Why did it take 2 years fr the review to be submitted. The renter lost a gate remote (yes the gate was inoperable during a portion of her stay, however, it was repaired the next week). We only asked for the fee to replace the remote, and as to the pan it showed up months later in another unit. Apparently the renter had used it and left it by the BBQ. In the 30 years of owning this home this was the first and only police response for a robbery. This building is on the beach and has open access to the sand. We leave items like expensive surfboards and wet suits on the patio or in the parking area all the time and have never had anything go missing. This is a wonderful vacation home. It is clean, well appointed and the entire complex is well maintained and friendly. The comment is not typical of the many return renters we have had throughout the years. We welcome people into our home and hope they enjoy their stay as much as we enjoy it.
