This house was more home to us. My 4yr old twins declared they were here to stay the moment they walked in to the backyard- the massive trampoline, the swingset, the hens, the hammock, the pear-tree laden with pears were enough to keep them occupied (thank God- 'cos that gave us time to relax). Great collection of books, DVDs (loved the one that gave more insight into the local native Indian tales). Janette the owner was very thoughtful and accomodating of our dealyed arrival schedule. The kitchen was well stocked with the littlest knick-knacks (including milk and fresh eggs). I'd highly recoomend the place esp for folks with young kids. Look forward to returning very soon for a longer stay.

This place was simply perfect. Clean, comfortable. Fabulous eggs from the backyard hens. Lovely walkable neighborhood. Jeanette and Scott were helpful when needed and otherwise I hardly knew they were around. Port Angeles is such a great base camp for exploring the Olympic Peninsula, and if you are just 2 or 3 people, this place is perfect. I hope to go back next summer!!

This beautiful nest had everything we needed for a wonderful vacation. We came to the Olympic Peninsula to see the sights and the national parks. We took several day trips and it was so nice to come back to such a great place. The apartment had everything we needed. The kitchen was stocked with many things we needed for cooking, including fresh eggs from the chicken coop in the back yard. The bathroom had many essentials in case we forgot anything. The bed amazingly comfortable, I slept so well. The chickens were a lot of fun to watch when we were there and the view of the mountains was spectacular. Also the wood burning stove really made the nest so comfortable and homey. We didn't want to leave! Jeanette & Scott were very kind & helpful. The location was great for us because there were several restaurants very close by (Sabai Thai, Toga's Soup House and Gastropub were out favorites), grocery stores, coffee shops, book shops, outdoor stores and the ferry to Victoria. We went to Ediz Hook in Port Angeles every evening to see the birds and look for seals who frequent the harbor. The view of the mountains from Ediz Hook was incredible (when the clouds let up) and we didn't see them as well anywhere else. We also went to Dungeness Spit in Sequim where we saw a lot of wildlife. The trails were beautiful. We drove to Neah Bay via Highway 12 which was an amazing experience. The Cape Flattery trail at the Makah reservation was really incredible. There was so much we loved about our trip but the most important part was having such a lovely place to stay. The experience at the cozy nest for two was really wonderful. Ryan & Nina: New York

We found this place online, and absolutely loved our stay there. It is a very welcoming vacation home, and the owner is very friendly. She has raspberry bushes in the backyard and you can grab some if in season. It is extremely clean and just a very pleasant experience overall.

Even though we were only here for 1 night, it was so great. Your unique decor, and quiet atmosphere made our stay memorable.

Owner response: It is wonderful to meet folks wanting peace and tranquility. We live in such a beautiful area and to be able to be a part of helping people to relax from the city or energizing themselves on the many hikes and trails of the Olympics. Honeymooners, newly engaged, or popping the question, anniversaries, last days alone before families multiply, families and friends getting together. There are may reasons folks venture to Kiwi West. We enjoy meeting you all. Until our next guest.... Jeanette

                  Owner info

                  Year Purchased: 1990

About the owner: My name is Jeanette, I was born in a small town called Foxton in New Zealand. I moved to America in 1985. We purchased our home in Port Angeles in April of 1990. After living in Seattle for three years I did not want to raise my daughter in the big city. We looked for a place that was more like NZ for us and we discovered the Olympic Peninsula! With it's majestic mountains and the Pacific Ocean, how much closer could it feel to my home country. My husband, Scott & I enjoy the relaxing, slow pace of our area with lots of places to explore. We have been a foster home to hundreds of children in the past 22 years, many beautiful memories are made. Kiwi West has a collection of memoirs and gifts from home. Sometimes we escape to our little vacation rental and light the fire in the wood stove and enjoy a quiet break from our busy family days. It feels warm and peaceful, just the two of us!

Why the Owner Chose Port Angeles:
We purchased our home as a duplex in 1990 and opened up the upstairs to give us all of the bedrooms for us to accommodate more foster children. The downstairs of the second part of the duplex was a little rental for some years, until 3 years ago we decided to make it into a vacation rental because it is in a tranquil area, where you can choose to relax or enjoy the many parks, beaches, rainforest and waterfalls. There is so much to do in the Olympic National Park alone. We are located close to the Port Angeles airport, Victoria BC ferry dock and only 2-3 hours from the big city of Seattle.

The Unique Benefits at this Studio:
One can enjoy the peaceful, relaxing, smoke-free environment. Sit out on the deck and watch the chickens make their daily rounds in the back yard. Or on the front porch on a beautiful sunny day and see the majestic mountains, for a long time they have snow on their peaks. Or if you like to bike, hike, fish or hunt, golf or surf, we are close to the Dungeness River, Voice of America; Dungeness Spit, Olympic Game Farm, Lavendar Farms in Sequim, Hurricane Ridge, victorian seaport; Port Townsend, Jamestown Casino and Sol Duc Hot Springs.
