Here time and nature move to a greater rhythm. Hana is nearby- a little town on the backside of Maui that is just about as far away as one could hope to travel... and still return. When it comes to natural attractions, Hana is blessed above all others. You can visit black, white, and red sand beaches and swim in luxurious waterfalls.
The gardens which surround the property offer a delightful array of papaya, mango, banana, breadfruit, avocado, ginger, jasmine and plumeria. The organic garden continually produces delicious, exotic salad mix and fresh vegetables.
The gatehouse has abundant natural light, white walls, and a white beamed ceiling. Enter through one of two sets of sliding glass doors and you are in a spacious, studio-like front room with a window seat, tv/dvd, queen bed, lounge chair and a wooden dining table for four. There is, as well, a whimsical nook with a cushioned seat that folds out into a bed. The kitchen fits gracefully into the front space. Nearby is a cozy bedroom. And there is a dressing room with a toilet and sink. Beyond this is a special area: a green translucent roof over a deck that has a sunken tub for two, a barbecue for cooking meat and two teak lounge chairs. The deck is screened and covered with bamboo fencing. It juts under a Guava tree, and you look over the bamboo to the rest of the property and distant mountains. |
