Recoleta with History and Elegance (2,200 Sq Feet)
- Minimum stay:7 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Relive the history of Buenos Aires only 5 blocks from today’s Recoleta village. In 1894, when the country of Argentina was one of the wealthiest in the world with strong European ties, a Frenchman built this elegant residence on Calle Juncal. You can still feel the old world ambiance in the building’s beautiful church-like façade, tall ceilings, and architectural features, but you can also enjoy modern conveniences like a renovated 'American style' kitchen. This large three bedroom apartment (over 200 square meters or 2,200 square feet) has a large master suite with king size bed, walk-in closet and separate bath, shower and toilet areas. There is a second smaller loft bedroom (with 2 twin beds) with its own bathroom with shower. A fully equipped office/study with television, DVD player, broadband internet access and wi-fi connection is tucked into a loft with skylight off the master bedroom. (There is also a very small bedroom (with bed slightly smaller than a twin) and bath in what was formerly the maid’s quarters which could accommodate a 5th person.) Recently renovated by the same architect who did the Art Hotel, the apartment features 15 foot ceilings in the living and dining areas and master bedroom. The apartment also contains some antiques and features art work by several local artists which we encourage you to discover and enjoy as much as we have. With each trip we make, we add to our collection of Argentine art in the apartment.
The apartment has its own private, elegant entrance with marble stairs up to the second floor (considered the 1st floor in Argentina - but there is NO elevator). World class restaurants, cafes, and gourmet grocery and wine shops are all in the neighborhood and within easy walking distance. Two blocks away you can enjoy the café lined Plaza Mitre for an early morning coffee before setting out into one of the most walkable cities in the world; three blocks in the other direction, you’ll find a Metro stop on Avenida Santa Fe. And with the apartment's central location in the city, everything Buenos Aires has to offer is a short taxi ride away.
Please note on some days when we have a guest checking in and out on the same day, the maid will not always finish the cleaning until 4pm, but you may checkin earlier on this understanding.
Bookings are not confirmed until the deposit has been received.

We had the best time in BA and the best part was staying at this amazing apartment belonging to Hamish. He made the booking process a breeze and the apartment is way better and larger than the photo's show. We thought we were in Paris in some exclusive pad. Great location, try the local Malbec red from the wine store 20 feet from the front door and the lovely couple from the deli across the road have some delicious local cheeses, milk, cereals and bread for your stay. All so easy and Marcela arranged for us to be picked up at the airport. Her tips on some local restaurants were great for our anniversary dinner. We can't wait to come back.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

My family spent a week at Hamish's lovely apartment in the Recoleta area and can't recommend both the apartment and the area highly enough. It was over the christmas break and the weather was quite hot and unusually humid. The apartment was well equiped to handle it it all and we had a great stay. The apartment is very handy to all amenities locally and we actually found the best shopping on Santa Fe a few blocks away. All the major sights are in walking distance except for San Telmo and La Boca which are just a short taxi ride away. Marcela was a great help in picking us up from the airport and showing us the ropes in the apartment with plenty of handy tips for the local area.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

Marcela and Hamish were awesome to deal with. Communication with the owner and agent was clear and precise; and we felt welcomed. The apartment was as described, clean and more than we expected. I would recommend this apartment to friends travelling to Buenos Aires.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

We arrived at this amazing apartment after 3 days in another smaller 50m2 apartment nearby. This fantastic airy apartment was four times bigger with 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and 4 toilets. The main bedroom is huge with a great loft study off it. There is another small bedroom upstairs from the study for 1 person with their own bathroom. There is a huge dining and lounge area with 15 ft vaulted ceilings with exposed beams and off that another loft bedroom with its own bathroom. All the bedrooms face a rear courtyard so it was nice and quiet, but there was never much external road noise. The apartment is full of beautiful original Argentinian artworks which make you feel you are staying somewhere really special. The apartment was everything and more Hamish said it would be. Marcela was a great help meeting us and explaining the apartment and location. We loved the bottle of wine and flowers she gave us as a welcome gift and there is a great wine store a few steps from the front door to re stock and diagonally across the street a deli where we bought basic items for the kitchen even though we ate out most times. We were only a couple on a holiday but highly recommend this beautiful apartment in the heart of Recoleta to small family groups or multiple couples travelling together and would definitely stay here again.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

The art has been changed so the VRBO picture looks much better than the actual apartment, which is spacious but worn and very drab. The carbon monoxide from the busy street below, coupled with the noise disenables ones choice to open the doors to the tiny deck, which opens up to a flat faced homely building. the location is good, the beds hard hard hard. And expect to buy your own toilet paper and kitchen napkins and saran wrap. AND remember... Marcela is NOT a concierge, she is somewhat helpful but begrudgingly so. i would not go back.Recommended for: Pet owners.

This place is all it's supposed to be and more. Plenty of space and the two bedrooms are well separated for privacy. We stayed here in Jan. 2012 and loved the location. Very central to all major attractions and we walked to most of them. Close to the subway, many buses and taxis everywhere if you don't want to walk. Lots of restaurants nearby and plenty of food markets/ coffee shops/ and bottle shops. The 'maids bathroom' on the upper floor with large operable window was one of favorites. Wifi worked great. The master bedroom is a lot bigger and nicer than the second bedroom with two single beds so if two couples renting this apartment, some discussion needed. Ideal for a couple with three kids. 31/2baths is ample. Did I mention that the balcony is just big enough for two people with drinks and perhaps a cigar. One of the nicest/ cleanest apartment we have rented - anywhere.Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

just know the entry staircase is 30 stairs...we had too much baggage as we had been gone for over a month and a half. master bed and bath are great. just wish there was a washer. kitchen is very nice and well equipped. the art work and architecture are really fabulous. hamish was very responsive. the pictures were accurate and the house was even more intriguing than pictured. the property was very clean. second bedroom upstairs would be hard for a tall individual but doable. ac was great. location was great. ernesto was great for trip back to airport. would recommend for sure unless one has a problem w/stairs. only complaint was the mirror in the foyer made one look like they were in a fun house as you appeared so squatty it was frightening. nice having a powder room. liquor store two doors down was very accommodating. loved the recoleta cemetary--something that i never would have guessed. would return without question.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

Exceptionally nice apartment in a great location. Very spacious and clean. Beautifully decorated. When we arrived, there were fresh flowers and a bottle of wine waiting for us. There was very little street noise in the apartment with none in the bedroom. Many nice shops and places to eat nearby. We would absolutely stay here again on future trips to Buenos Aires.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Everything about this rental was first rate and met all our expectations and more. The communications with the owner, Hamish, were excellent, prompt and informative; the manager, Marcela, and driver to and from the airport, Ernesto, were helpful and kind. The apartment was clean and well maintained with everything necessary provided. The neighborhood, which is near the fancy part of Recoleta, is convenient and "real" with everything we needed nearby, including supermarkets, wine stores, restaurants, shoe repair, etc. There are many good local restaurants, some of which deliver food. Tha apartment or (actually) house is beautiful-- even better than the photos. It has a separate entrance and stairway up to a private and large space. The decor is quite lovely with a great color scheme and impressive modern art. There are novels, books on Buenos Aires and Argentina, and a "house book" of information and suggestions. Each room has a fan, air conditioner, and heater, so guests can be comfortable. The kitchen is nice and stocked with dishes, etc. Marcela even met us with bottled water, a baottle of Malbec, and fresh flowers. There are multiple bathrooms, a great master suite,a TV room, and even an extra bedroom and bathroom that would be perfect for teenagers. In fact, the place is so nice that you feel you want to take good care of everthing. We would definitely recommend this lsting to friends, family, and strangers who want to live comfortably and well in Buenos Aires. In fact, we'd like to return to it. Its beauty, charm, and speace enhanced our visit! It offers so much more than a hotel room.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

About the owner: I fell in love with Buenos Aires and bought this beautiful apartment in the historic and charming area of Recoleta. You can share some of the excitement and interest I discovered by renting this truly unique and beautifully furnished home away from home (greater than 2,200 Sq foot) apartment yourself.
Why the Owner Chose Recoleta:
I think Buenos Aires is the most vibrant cosmopolitan city in South America.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
Loads of fabulous restaurants, coffee shops, supermarkets and art galleries are nearby and you are close to public transport to the city via bus or subway (subte). The popular shopping precinct of Santa Fe ave, is just a 5 minute stroll from the apartment. You are surrounded by beautiful architecture on every corner.
