Gorgeous views and dramatic design!
Las Colinas is a compound with a striking two-bedroom house, a stand-alone one-bedroom guest house, and a 40-foot infinity-edge pool.
The bedrooms in the house are well-separated and each has its own bath. House and guest house both have their own kitchen and laundry. For Christmas and New Year - for any special vacation! - the house + guest house is the perfect place for three couples or a multi-generation family trip. The house itself is fabulous for two to four people and can take five comfortably.
The tropical gardens and forest attract butterflies and birds, including trogons and parrots. A troop of monkeys patrol forest trees close to the houses. The pool has its own kitchenette and gas grill under shade, its own bathroom, and an exotic open-air hot water shower.
The house, Las Colinas:
Beautiful design, soaring cane ceilings and elegant lines. High-end construction, tropical wood features, custom-made furniture, quality European and American appliances. The spacious house has an open floor plan with living, dining, and kitchen areas; they and the master bedroom have knock-your-socks-off beach and ocean views.
Telephone, Internet, DVD-playing TV, mini-sound system (bring your iPod!), and plenty of room for lounging. Huge wrap-around terrace for shade, snoozing, entertaining and al fresco dining.
Private terrace off the master bedroom. Bedrooms are open, spacious, with beautiful tropical fabrics and Roman shades. Read in the master bedroom and watch the moonbeams reflect off the ocean.
The large kitchen, decorated with hand-made Spanish tiles, is perfect for preparing fresh, delicious meals. Serve easily from the kitchen island to large custom dining tables on the terrace and in the dining room, or to the breakfast bar. Clean up with the help of a dishwasher. We can also arrange for catering or a cook.
Each bedroom has a “seamless king” that can be made up as twin beds. Baths are tiled and roomy with plush linens. Solar hot water, washer and dryer and a safe for passports and cash. The fully screened house, carefully designed for delightful ventilation, is insulated against the sun and has a dozen ceiling fans.
The house is gated and has an attached garage. There is a daily gardener, pool cleaning, and regular maid service. Las Colinas is an easy 5-minute drive to Playa Guiones and its shops and restaurants or a 15-minute hike for the adventurous.
The guest house, Casita de las Colinas:
You will be surprised at the gracious and pleasing use of space. It has the same high-end construction, teak hardwood ceilings, custom-made tropical wood furniture, and a spacious, open floor plan. The kitchen is large enough to prepare a wonderful meal for two and you can eat in the living area or al fresco, on the roomy patio with ocean view. Laze in the hammock at the terrace edge and watch the monkeys and birds.
The bedroom has a “seamless king” that can be made up as twin beds. The bath is tiled and roomy with plush linens. There is a washing machine for your convenience (so you can pack light!) and a secure bodega storage area for laptops and other valuables.
The casita is fully screened with great cross ventilation, insulated against the sun and has five ceiling fans. There is a clear sense of privacy and separation from the main house. The casita shares the gated drive and has the same services for yard, pool and housekeeping as the main house. Sleeps two persons, maximum.
The pool area:
The pool has a modern salt-generated system. It is softer and easier on your skin than seawater or chlorine, and you won't have "chlorine perfume" in your hair. It has a large tile-roof rancho for shade, an outdoor bath/changing room and a private outdoor hot water jungle shower. There is a small kitchenette and gas grill for cooking poolside. Choose lounge or hammock, sun or shade. Best of all, the 40-foot infinity-edge pool has unbelievable beach and ocean views.
Surfing and Las Colinas:
Nosara's Playa Guiones is famous among surfers. It has a consistent mile-long break. It's great for beginners and experienced surfers. You can rent boards, take classes, and get photos of yourself riding a wave. Las Colinas is a great base for surfing: it's breezier, cooler, quieter, and safer than staying near the beach. One surfing family told us the tranquility at Las Colinas was a fabulous change of pace. And you have direct views to check the surf from the terrace and pool!

What an extraordinary stay we had in this beautiful casa. Views are stunning! Our children were captivated by the pool and abounding wildlife. Visits from monkeys daily, coatimundi, a thin striped snake on the stairs to the pool caused a thrill. Cecelia and Brian are wonderful people. The house itself is sublime. It blends into the hillside and jungle as if it were always there. We all hope to return again and again. Thanks for sharing such a perfect place in this world.

My husband and I spent a week at this amazing property for our honeymoon and we can't wait to go back! The Casa and Casita are absolutely gorgeous in every way, the views breathtaking, and the entire property immaculate. The photos do not do it justice! Our trip happened to coincide with the owners' own vacation, and privacy was never an issue. We stayed in the main house (Casa) while the owners stayed in the Casita, and we would have never known they were even there! The property is designed so that both houses boast privacy, accessibility, and security. The property offer unbelievable sweeping views over the ocean and beach, as does the lovely infinity pool which makes you feel like you are floating over the hillside and the surfers below! The postcard-esque beach is only 5 minutes away. The miles of soft sand, beautiful blue hues, and amazingly warm water make for the ultimate beach experience whether you are a sun worshiper, surfer, or shell collector. The very friendly people of Nosara and the delicious local cuisine made dining out a delight. Exceptional food and very inexpensive! We are already planning our next trip and it can't be soon enough!!

Thank you for the opportunity to visit Costa Rica from such a stunning location! The combination of wonderful architecture, beautiful appointments, and that VIEW make Las Colinas a destination to write home about. We arrived home late last night and are still savoring our experiences. We made it to La Dolce Vita (loved it) and Rancho Tico (loved it and Leo was as a perfect host). You also gave us a great source of information to make the most of our stay via the binder and your notes. The team of people you have in place also made our stay wonderful. We are greatly looking forward to visiting again and being able to take in more of the wonderful natural resources.

A Wonderful House

We stayed here for 10 days in April with our two kids (5 and 8 years old) and had a lovely time. The house is beautiful, with an amazing view of Playa Giuones and Playa Pelada. The house is perfect condition, spacious and remarkably cool without AC. The large infinity pool had a great view and kept the kids entertained when we weren't at the beach, which is just a 3 min drive away. When we weren't at the beach we settled into one of the numerous hammocks enjoying the cool sea breezes. It is the perfect house for those wanting a quiet place to unwind and enjoy the warm water and surf of Nosara. I would recommend this place for families wanting a house away from the beach and a bit more privacy than you find in Guiones. -Emmanuel

We had an absolutely wonderful time at Casa de Wolfe in Nosara. We stayed?nearly two weeks with our two children. The house sits on top of a mountain with gentle?breezes all day long. The photos are beautiful, but pale in comparison to being there. We spent most of our time either at the beach, the?pool, hiking in the rain forest or in the cafes at night.??The owners were so accommodating and helped us with our car?reservations and gave us lots of travel info. We had lots of great advice on?where to go so we had a pretty full itinerary. My husband and I would love?to go back sometime soon so we could just spend more time relaxing by the?pool and enjoy the view. Our kids had a spectacular time as well and?preferred to be more active. My son was in his glory observing all the wild?creatures in their natural habitats: Howler Monkeys, every type of lizard, sloths and even an ocelat in the rainforest! In addition to surfing and relaxing on the beautiful beaches, we took several tours, guides hikes, river boat trips, Hanging Bridges of Arenal--a must see! The house was beautiful and very spacious, open and clean. There are lots of?windows that overlook the pacific ocean. The front?porch is gorgeous, you'll spend a lot of time on the hammock there. The salt?water infinity pool was a highlight too. We spent long hours in the pool and often grilled by the pool for dinner. And if you don't feel like cooking, it's a short drive (or long walk) up the?mountain to Debbies for dinner or down the mountain into Nosara--lot's of nice restaurants to choose from. We took hundreds and hundreds of photos--many NatGeo worthy! The kids remember it as one of the best vacations we ever took. It really was a memory to last a lifetime for us and we hope to go back soon. The people of Nosara were very warm and wonderful too. We felt very safe there. We highly recommend Casa de Wolfe and Nosara!

Perfect Home Away From Home

Our group was reticent to venture up the hill to lodge for this trip to Nosara. However, our fears were allayed the moment we pulled into the drive. The view from the house is second to none. Well, perhaps second to that of standing in the pool at its infinity edge while staring over the pacific; a position one could find somebody in our party at almost all hours of the day. The house, in a word: perfect. Each bedroom offered privacy from the rest of the house (we were three couples w/the Casita). There was plenty of room in the kitchen for everybody to participate in the preparation of meals. The great room and office were perfect for relaxing in the heat of the day. But, most spent the afternoons lounging on one of the hammocks and soaking in the views. When not watching monkeys from the patio and soaking in the afore mentioned views I would drive a couple minutes to Playa Guiones, drop my wife off at yoga, then head to world class surf (two sessions a day even on not so great days. Check out surfingnosara for surf reports and daily photos). She would walk the couple minutes to the beach after her practice just in time to see me getting worked by a wave and then we would enjoy the sunset. Heaven. Not everybody in our group was into surf or yoga so a few days we went a couple minutes in the opposite direction for ziplines, hikes, and a wildlife refuge. Everything we wanted was literally a couple minute to 5 minute drive in any direction (sunset drinks at Lagarta; great Italian at La Dolce Vita (Roberto is a riot); spectacular views and lobster at Vista Del Paraiso (Debbie is awesome, ask for wings and if you really want to win her friendship, bring her a bottle of gluten free soy sauce); pub life at Black Sheep; beach side dining at La Luna; and Tico nights out at myriad cantinas to name just a few of the attractions. I would be remiss if I didn't mention Robin's incredible ice cream too). To top it all off, Susan and Michael are the most assistive and supportive hosts one could hope for. They put up with our incessent questions and left an incredible list of resources to guide or visit. In fact, I believe Susan was coronated the Amenity Resource Queen of the Americas. I would hate to put pressure on them to be as patient and available as they were for us to all visitors but they were truly and remarkably incredible in scheduling our visit. Thank you so much Michael and Susan for all the time you spent. We had an amazing time. Can't wait to go back
