My friend and I rented this cabin for my Birthday weekend. Cabin directions were good but cabin was a disappointment. Lock box on front door not user friendly.The gas fireplaces were either broken or not turned on. The algaecide used in hot tub made it foam up and smell so strong we were not able to use it. The view was pretty but the sunset was blocked by trees on the left side of the property. What really bugged me was the fact that the cabin was so dusty. We sneezed alot. There were cobwebs in the bedroom corners and on the curtains in the bathroom. The kitchen was fairly clean and the bathrooms too. Comfortable furniture. When called, the owner responded with text messages and emails instead of calling me in person. Not worth the cost.

Owner response:I am sorry the renter was not happy with the rental. I have had many rentals this fall and have had nothing but positive responses. To address their issues... The lockbox for the key was the same one we have used for several years with no complaints. I talked to them on the phone and explained how to get the key out of the box and they got in fine. The main fireplace is awesome and the porch fireplace worked for the provious renters. My staff also found nothing wrong with the porch fireplace when they cleaned the cabin. They hot tub uses standard chemicals not algecide and there is not much that can be done about that. You certainly want to use chemicals for safety. I talked on the phone to the renter twice (as well as many emails and text messages) during their stay and when I offered to send maintenance for the fireplace they refused. The renter never made mention of the cleaning to me, maybe it was an after thought. I responded to them every time they contacted me. Again I am sorry if they didn't feel the cabin was worth the price but I did my best to make them happy.

AWESOME! Very upscale "cabin" with great amentities! Everyone in our group agrees that this is the BEST mountain getaway. We have always enjoyed working with Ginger. She is great and always very accommodating. Everything was beyond our expectations and we can't wait to come back! Thanks, Ginger.

After reading the previous review, we were a little nervous about this house with all of the complaints but Ginger assured us everything was fine, so we went ahead and booked for early March 2011. Well, everything was fine, absolutely nothing worthy of a complaint! Everything was clean, everything worked, and the fireplace next to the hot tub had easy lighting instructions. This gas fireplace was really nice after stepping out of the hot tub on a cold rainy night! The main fireplace was nice too and the there was plenty of split and seasoned wood for our use.

AWESOME RENTAL

Since 1995 our group of college friends has gotten together for one weekend out of the year as an opportunity to remember the "good 'ole days". When we were young and first out of college it started with camping in the woods. As we grew older and had more resources for this type of trip we started visiting other places never to return to the same place twice. In Feb. 2010 we visited this cabin in Blue Ridge, GA and it was incredible. We started working with the owner months earlier and she was very patient with all of our questions. As we made the decision to stay at this cabin the rental plans were simple and quick. When we arrived at the cabin we were all awestruck at the beauty of the mountains and the view from the back porch. It was breath taking. The inside of the cabin was equally spectacular. It had everything we needed to keep our group entertained for the 4 days we were there. The pool table and big screen TV’s were a hit. We also all got to enjoy the hot tub and fireplace next to it as well. There was plenty of room for our group and the rooms were all great. Not a single person complained about their sleep. Usually with a 4 day trip you get cabin fever and want to go explore your surrounding areas. This was not the case for us this weekend which is kind of to bad. Based on our research there were tons of things to do in all of the surrounding areas. We never got bored and always seemed to have something to do. All in all we were very satisfied. In 2011 we will return to the cabin for our second year here. This is our first return trip to any of our locations. The scenery, amenities, and quality of the rental won us over. With any luck this will be a place we can go year after year.

Nice cabin - but little things matter

I have used HomeAway for scheduling all of the five trips that we have made down to the area to rebond two famlies. And we have been fortunate in all of our endeavors. I am glad that we were able to find the cabin ---it is a nice cabin with a beautiful sunset. And the pool table and hot tub provided a lot of fun. The wonderful downtown Blue Ridge is 10 minutes away. However, there were things that could use some attention: • The dishwasher needs to be fixed. We ran it several times when detergent didn't get used. On one occasion, it stuck on a cycle for over a hour before we noticed the burning smell and pushed it to the next cycle. When we noticed that it was not getting the dishes clean, we finally gave up and hand washed the dishes. There aren’t that many dishes in the house, so with the two families, we had to do this quite often. We finally got paper products and used those. • There aren't enough towels. The kids were always running around or we went riding or something that required a shower before bedtime. If you take into consideration the number of people that the cabin supports, with one towel for each for the shower and one towel each for the hot tub, we seemed to be running out of towels a lot. • The sheets on at least one of the bunk beds did not fit (bottom queen). My daughter had to completely make the bed every morning & they still came off. Because all the kids wanted to be together in one room, the smallest just slept on sofa. • We found the lids to the plastic ware but not the bottoms. • The tea pot needs to be replaced. When we used it and left for the day, we found water all over the stove. • One of the plastic chairs was broken --- the whole leg fell off when my friend sat in it. • It took a while but the hot tub did finally get warm enough. But the hot tub should be cleaned more often. Both my husband and our friend used to work in the pool industry and they said that the filter that the gentleman pulled out was disgusting. • It took a while but they finally got the fire on the deck lit. It required jiggling the pilot light around and making sure we had a lighter. There was nothing major --- just things here and there. I am sure that Ginger is addressing it all.

Owner response:I so appreciate the imput from my renters. When I do hear of a problem it helps me to take care of it faster if it is communicated to me. If there any issues we try to take care of it as quickly as possible. The renters who have posted this review had a very large group and per my cleaning crew, they were very hard on the cabin. All issues have been addressed and taken care of. Ginger:)
