5 hours stress-free drive from Calais; 2 hours easy drive from Paris; just over 1 hour by TGV (express) train from Paris to nearby Montbard station,where car-hire (essential) can be arranged; house located away from busy roads in tranquil, picturesque Stigny village, perfectly positioned for all the world-famous Burgundy vineyards, Chablis (40 kms), Cote-d'Or, Cote de Nuits, Beaune, Macon and many more; in a region which was a political powerhouse in the turbulent medieval world, resulting in its many fortified villages and castles,as well as sumptuous chateaux; close to picture-postcard villages surprisingly free from the rampant commercialism of other more blatant tourist areas of France.

The house has a magnificent stone medieval round-tower and spiral staircase dating from those far-off times,with original arrow-slit and stone coat-of-arms, but has also recently been sympathetically and tastefully refurbished and refurnished to a high standard, to reflect its history and tradition.

A splendid spacious 1st-floor salon/sitting room with comfortable settee and armchair seating for 5, large dining table with seating for 6, giving onto adjacent newly installed,fully equipped country-style kitchen; on up the spiral staircase to spectacular 2nd-floor large, oak-beamed bedroom 1, with adjoining luxury bathroom; large comfortable, second bedroom on 1st-floor, leading off salon, with original 18th century fireplace and polished oak floor, with newly installed en-suite shower-room with large walk-in shower; distant cross-country views from all 5 main rooms.
