We had such a lovely time at the Wilderness Cottage. It was so cozy, and a great place to unwind and get away from it all! Michael is a great host and the cottage is well-equipped with everything you need to truly feel like you are on vacation! Would highly recommend!

Fantastic Mountain Cottage

Guest: Pete (chicago)
Date of Stay: 08/22/11 Review Submitted: 09/07/11

We loved the cabin from the minute we got there. Set in the foothills of Colorado, first thing you experience is the fresh air. The interior cottage is very well kept with a dishwasher, full size fridge, stove, microwave, coffeemaker, etc. We purchased groceries for the week and we prepared all our meals inside or on the grill. Can't praise the cottage enough you just have to rent it. Michael was available if there was anything that we needed.

Enjoyable Stay

Date of Stay: 07/26/11 Review Submitted: 08/01/11

Just returned from a visit to Evergreen and vicinity and enjoyed our stay at the Wilderness Cottage. This property is well supplied and worked well for our family of four. We appreciated the comfy beds after a day of hiking and activities - they were definitely a step above some we have experienced in other rentals. The location is remote (15-20 mins to town/grocery), but scenic and we enjoyed lots of animal sightings. We had a rental SUV and were glad that we did not attempt it in our family minivan from the flat lands! Even though there is not wifi at this cabin, you can walk to access it at the office - plus there is a desk there for your use. Michael recommended some nearby hikes for us too. Overall a peaceful and relaxing stay.

Relaxing Holiday Weekend

Guest: Dave (Denver, Colorado)
Date of Stay: 12/31/10 Review Submitted: 01/03/11

My girlfriend and I decided to escape from Denver for the New Year's weekend, and we are really glad we did. What a relaxing weekend out of the hustle and bustle of the city. The cottage was very nice and it was stocked with everything we needed for a great weekend. The fireplace was amazing and we couldn't have asked for more comfortable accommodations. Michael did a great job with every detail, concise and specific. Bonus: If you clean up after yourself as you would at your own home, you even get your cleaning fee refunded. Great job Michael, you will be seeing us again.

Wedding Weekend

Guest: JohnDoe0016 (Washington DC)
Date of Stay: 10/07/10 Review Submitted: 10/19/10

The Wilderness Cottage was the perfect place to rest on a weekend trip for a friends wedding. Waking up to beautiful views as well as the amazing amount of stars at night was the perfect setting. The cabin is very well maintained and has most everything you need. The only addition I would make would be to add wifi.

Owner response:We always appreciate our guests suggestions for improvements and make every effort to review and improve when possible. Four of our VRBO Vacation Home listings come equipped with WiFi. The Wilderness Cottage does not have WiFi at the Cottage, and that information is very clear in the VRBO listing. Free WiFi for guests who stay at the Wilderness Cottage is always available at our on site office from dawn to dusk 7 days per week which is a short 250 ft. walk or drive down the driveway. This information describing the location of available WiFi for guests at the Wilderness Cottage is also clearly posted in the Cottage. If your stay requires your Vacation residence to have WiFi in the home please note that requirement to us upon your inquiry and we will suggest your lodging stay be at one of our Evergreen Colorado Vacation homes that has on site Wifi. Sincerely Michael

Great Mountain Place

Guest: John C. (Detroit MI)
Date of Stay: 08/15/10 Review Submitted: 09/17/10

Wow, what a cool place! The Wilderness Cottage is situated at close to 8,800 feet in elevation. You get to drive a fantastic mountain road to get there, and you get there to find a place that is in the middle of nature, quiet, and full of incredible scenery. The cottage itself is very clean, cute, and fun. The kitchen is nicely stocked with utensils, cookware, spices and the like to make the kitchen feel like home. The couches are comfy as are the beds. The deck is great, and using the grill while looking out onto the mountains is just fantastic. At night, with a slight wind, you will hear that majestic sound of the Colorado breeze rushing through the Aspen tress, which is just pure magic. The road leading to the cottage is twisty and turny, but believe it- you do not need 4 wheel drive to get up there. The road is fine, minus a few bumps, and normal car will do just fine. It is actually a lot of fun to drive the road leading to the cottage. I made it up and down multiple times over a week(in August) with my Malibu with no problems. In snow season, you would want to have 4 wheel drive. The town on Evergreen is seriously no more than 15-20 minutes away, full of great restaurants, parks, scenery, shopping, and just super nice people. The Wilderness Cottage combines the best of both worlds in that you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere, but really close to so much great stuff to do. The wildlife up there is amazing- while there we saw foxes, elk, deer, and lots of humminbirds(which frequent the deck). Michael(host and owner) is very accommodating. He seriously answers his cell phone every time you call to help you out. I never had one communication with him go to voice mail. Super guy and very easy to work with. Very prompt service and professional. Overall, the Wilderness Cottage is just a great place in an amazing area. And for the price, you just can't beat it. It's the perfect place to make some memories of a lifetime. Enjoy!

Cozy Retreat

Guest: Kathy (Lewes, DE)
Date of Stay: 06/20/10 Review Submitted: 07/04/10

What a perfect spot to come back to after a strenuous day of hiking or driving those Colorado "White Knuckle Drives!" We loved coming home to the quiet of Wilderness Cottage after exploring Mount Evans, Rocky Mountain National Park, St Mary's Glacier and the Red Rock Area. The cabin is cozy and the views are delightful. We had some fun wildlife sitings too: a bear, elk, deer, hummingbirds and the infamous Black Fox! Michael was an accomodatng host, totally respecting our need for a private and quiet retreat, yet available if needed. We hope to return someday!

My boyfriend and I went to stay in the Wilderness Cottage over Valentine's Day weekend. It was very clean and everything we might have needed was there. We started up the fireplace immediately! The directions were very straight forward and we didn't get lost at all! We had a great time. We got engaged while we were staying there so it will always be special to us!!
