We returned from Maui and a stay at Ely's exceptionally beautiful condo at Honua Kai a week ago and have had a terrible time readjusting to real life! Everything about the condo was perfect--from the high-end kitchen to the beautiful bathrooms to the amount of space in the bedrooms and living area to the beautiful lanai where we ate every meal to the ocean view. We traveled with three teenagers and had plenty of room to spread out. The toys on the lanai were very helpful--the kids loved boogie boarding and making sand castles. The grounds of Honua Kai are lovely, with three great pools, a waterslide, and hot tubs, and the beach is great. Go to the left if you want to avoid the coral bottom. Ely was a pleasure to work with and made our trip go smoothly from start to finish. Thank you so much, Ely, for a wonderful stay. We hope to come back soon!!!

Our stay was absolutely wonderful! The condo was exceptionally comfortable and convenienet, very gorgeous patio (lanai) that we sat on almost constantly when we were at the condo. Looking out at the ocean and admiring the sunsets and watching whales are what we love about the island. I would highly recommend this unit as clean, nice set-up, and a wonderful host to greet us and make us feel welcomed when we arrived.

We have been going to Maui for the last 10 years and have stayed in Kaanapali most of the time. Ely's condo by far has been the most beautiful and best place we have stayed. It is truly home away from home. The location and amenities are great. We walked every morning on the boardwalk and sat on the beach in front of the condo. Shopping is walking distance as are restaurants. This will be our kaanapali home from now on.

This was the first time I decided our vacation dates based on the availability of Ely's place. It's very hard to find a place with a lanai with privacy. And what a lanai! I was with my husband, 2 year old toddler and parents. I kept the place a surprise to everyone and were they ever surprised! All I kept hearing was "wow"! And Monty was there to witness their excitement. He met us at the lobby and had already arranged someone to help us with all our stuff. It was great to have him meet and greet us. He explained the basics of the place and surroundings. Very helpful information. Thanks! The place was fantastic. We really appreciated the two full baths. Really important for us to have two separate tubs. So spacious too! But should have asked to have the 2nd bedroom set up as king bed because the two singles were narrow for my parents. And getting back to the lanai. We tried to have as many meals as possible outside. The view was fabulous and can't tell you how much we enjoyed. Great location with many pools and Duke's on site. Convenient to Lahaina, golf courses, shopping and drives up the west coast cliffs where it always seemed to be sunny. Highly recommended.

We just returned from an amazing Vacation in Maui! We absolutely loved the Honua Kai Condo and found it to be totally accurate to what Ely described. From the beginning, Ely was easy to deal with and gave us clear and detailed instructions for our stay in his suite. The suite was perfect for our family of five and we were all very comfortable. We found it to be clean and well maintained. The views from the suite were beautiful and the huge deck was perfect for sitting, relaxing and enjoying the sunsets. We also loved the location of the Honua Kai. It was close to the supermarkets, restaurants and a great local Farmer's market. My kids loved the 4 pools that the condo offered as well as the incredible beach with the best snorkeling around! Dukes restaurant was really great to have on the property as well. It was really good food, and good service. We highly recommend this place and this particular suite. We can't wait to go back!

Like many others, we have been to the islands many times usually staying at the Westin Maui or one of the Hilton properties if we are on the Big Island or Oahu. This time we were traveling with our 13-year old daughter and great friends of the family and decided it would be nice to have a little more room and the convenience a condo offers (kitchen, laundry, etc). This property, this unit and everything about this trip far exceeded our expectations. Ely is great to work with...very quick to respond, very professional, and covers all of the details. The two bedroom two bath corner suite is a perfect location. One of the largest lanai's available at the Honua Kai resort (much larger than the pictures show). Enjoy both beach and mountain views from the huge lanai that offers sliding windows that open across the entire living room. We spent most mornings and most evenings on the lanai just enjoying coffee and drinks during sunrise and sunset. Everything you need is right there...beach access with beach chairs, numerous pools (some heated), hot tubs, Duke's Bar and Grill (ask for Dave or Adam at the bar - great bartenders), and poolside bar service. There is a market on the property to pick up quick items or you can go right across the street where there are a number of quick bites like Subway and a full service supermarket. There are Viking gas grills and dining tables poolside if you want to have a cookout and enjoy the sunset from the beach about 20 steps down the boardwalk from the grill patio. The unit has everything you need including a coffee maker, blender, washer, dryer, even beach towels, beach chairs and boogie boards. The pictures on VRBO do not do this unit justice. The bathrooms are much larger than they appear with an over-sized shower and bathtub and double vanity sink in each bathroom. Friends of ours have already booked this for February after hearing us talk about how awesome Honua Kai is. And when you are not enjoying the condo or the many amenities the property offers, Erica at the concierge desk can set up anything you need - dinner reservations, zip line, jet ski rentals, sunset or whale watching trips - she has access to everything. Thank you Ely, we will see you next year.

We have been to Hawaii and it's islands several times over the years. We have spent several anniversaries visiting. We usually stay in 5 star hotels and always prefer ocean front or ocean view. This year we visited with our family of 6 (with college age kids). We decided to rent from a private owner and a place that had plenty of room and a kitchen so we would not have to be confined to a small area. We chose the right place!! It was so easy working with the owner Ely. Brian met us at the condo for check in (at midnight) to make sure we had everything we needed. He was a very nice and friendly man. The place was clean and well kept. It had most everything we needed (we donated an ice chest for day trips) It was very convenient having a washer and dryer in the unit. Everything about the condo was first class and convenient. The view was fabulous. There is a nice ocean view but also a beautiful mountain view. You get the best of both! And the lanai was spacious and the place to be. The location of the condo is great for all adventures of the island. We walked every morning along the ocean walk which was very peaceful. We also walked to Black Rock a couple of times (about a 50 minute walk) Our college children and their friends loved the place and were in ahh of its size, beauty and features. Thank you Ely & Brian. We can't wait to come back!! We highly recommend this condo!!!

Great apartment with amazing large bathrooms and a super comfortable main bed. Close to all Kaanapali amenities but far enough away to feel that you can relax in the comfort of the large condo complex, awesome pools and the cool Duke's beach house. Definitely recommend to a friend. Property was clean.

We had a wonderful time staying in our condo at Honua Kai. It was exactly as mentioned with enough room for a comfortable stay with a family of 5. The kitchen as well as the gym were bolstered with state of the art appliances and equipment. The amazing view was complimented with a floor to ceiling retractable window across the entire side of the unit. The suite came fully equipped with beach towels, snorkeling gear, chairs and boogie boards, which we gladly put to use down at the beach in front of the resort. The pool area was very clean and not crowded in the least. We found that the cordial staff at Honua Kai were on point with our requests and needs. Location of the resort was prime as their was a grocery store right across the street and Whalers Village was very close by for all your shopping and dining needs. I had a pleasurable time working with Ely; he was quick to respond to emails and ensured us a homely stay at Honua Kai. I definitely recommend this resort to anyone with a family.

The condo was great and as nice as described. We had a great time! The views were beautiful and not exaggerated. We had the ocean and the mountain view from the lanais. Rainbows everyday. The beds were very comfortable and the unit was quiet-no noise from neighbors. It was very clean and well kept. Kitchen was well stocked in all cookware we needed. Enjoyed using the kitchen. Ice maker was slow making ice, but there was an ice machine downstairs to supplement when needed. The beach chairs and umbrella that were in the unit were great, however two of the four boogie boards had broken handles, and there was only one complete snorkel mask and breathing tube-the others were broken. Two sets of fins were fine, another pair was ripped and not usable. We were in the unit 10 days, and used the washer and dryer quite a bit. The washer worked well, but the dryer was extremely slow and hard to use. We even went online to try to troubleshoot, and looked the model up. Discovered that according to the manual, it probably has a clog somewhere in the exhaust vent which kept the dryer from working properly. It sometimes took 6 hours to dry a small to regular size load. (The machine kept turning off.) This should be looked into as it is a real energy waster. We liked sleeping with the sliding glass doors open and the screens closed- but the smaller bedroom did not have a window that opened and got too hot at night. We ended up closing things up, and just sleeping with the a/c on at night. The swimming pools and Duke's restaurant were great. Quick to get to, and lots of variety. The gourmet grocery store in the lobby of the first tower was nice. Some of the prices were very good. We didn't find out until late in our stay that they take meal orders, and were reasonably priced. We would have ordered from them more if there had been a menu in the room. Coffees, espressos, newspapers were great. They had a wonderful selection of pre-made foods and groceries. Very nice. The pool staff needs to keep a better eye on things. Several times there were locals coming in from the beach, using the pools and lounge chairs. But there was generally always room around the pool, and open lounge chairs throughout the day. We like the underground parking, and it was so easy to come and go from the condo. In all, we had a great time, would stay in this unit again, and would recommend it to friends. The entire family enjoyed it! Thank you.
Owner response:Mahalo for your kind review, Tamie. It's great to hear that your entire family enjoyed it and that you would stay in the suite again. To clarify a few issues you had: - we don't provide snorkels; prior guests must have left them; they should be tossed when broken and I'll ask our on-island folks to do so. Thanks for mentioning this. - boogie boards are an extra and also not part of the suite, but we'll try to do better keeping them up-to-date; Thanks for alerting us to the broken handles on two of the four boogie boards - we're purchasing some new ones. -All dryers at Honua Kai are very slow in drying due to their non-vented eco-technology; the good news is that we have commercial, vented dryers on level "P" that run on a few quarters -bedroom #2 has a fixed glass window, but also has great air-conditioning and a variable-speed ceiling fan. It also has two doors that should have allowed great air circulation. -Great suggestion on adding an Aina Gourmet Market menu in the room.

Everything went exactly as planned, the condo is beautiful, very modern appliances, lovely decor, almost as large as my house. Great commons area and it is quiet and restful. We look forward to returning to the islands and especially this condo. Thanks Eli for a wonderful place to stay. The best part for me was all the room throughout, but especially in the bathrooms, as I have a game leg that doesn't bend very well and I am rather tall, so moving in a small bathroom is difficult. No problems in this condo though.

This property is absolutely stunning and provides an amazing place to relax, eat, sleep and enjoy Kaanapali! The bathrooms are more beautiful than the pictures show and the bedrooms are comfirtable with top of the line linens and bedding. The living room and kitchen is spacious and comfortable....we cooked breakfast and lunches every day during our 6 day stay and did it with ease. The lanai is probably the ost amazing part of the condo as it is large and the furniture comfortable! There is a treasure chest of goodies for the beach which when we discovered it felt like Christmas morning! Honua Kai is a gorgeous place in itself....we would definately go back to the resolrt but only if we could stay in this particular unit again!

We visited Honua Kai in March of 2011 and had another wonderful visit staying at one of Ely's condos. You sometimes get nervous renting a condo online but working with Ely is a pleasure. He responds to emails quickly and everything turns out greater than expected. This unit is beautiful with plenty of space. It is fully equipped with all the comforts of home. You won't regret booking this unit.

We were fortunate to have three weeks vacation in Hawaii at three different locations. Eight of us were travelling Ohua together but four had to go home and did not make the trip to Maui. When we e-mailed them pictures they know they missed the BEST accomodations and resort. I did all the research and found all the accomodations, working with Ely was problem free. The king bed in the second bedroom needed to be changed to twins for our group and Justin from the management company was there very quickly to fix things. The furnishings in the condo are top of the line. My husband loves to cook and he appreciated the fully stocked kitchen and new applicances. There is a grocery store within walking distance. The "second" bedroom is nearly as big as the master and we were impressed that it has a "master en-suite" as well. We loved the floor to ceiling walls that opened up. The resort is beautiful and along a great beach. We will return if our travels take us back to Maui. I have already had requests for the contact information from friends of friends. We were there for the tsunami warning which led to a sleepless night and rattled nerves for us land-locked prairie folks. The newer builidng has security speakers wired in and they kept you alerted on what was happening. Being on the 6th floor added to some feeling of security. Part of our Hawaii experience!!

We had such a wonderful time at this beautiful and comfortable 2 bedroom suite. We had 4 adults and 2 kids and there was plenty of room. The balcony in this place is fantastic. You can sit out there and soak in the view of the mountains and the ocean at the same time. Our kids loved all the pools and play areas on the property with great access to what felt like a private beach for the guests. Parking, check-in, and check-out were all very easy and the staff at the property were very courteous and helpful. We can't wait for our next stay.

We had a great stay at the Honua Kai. Ely is great to work with and very responsive. The unit is large with an enormous lanai, and is very comfortable and clean. The view is great with the only downside being that there is a parking lot and road below. However, at the same time the ocean view is huge, and noise is not a factor, and because the unit is on the 6th floor, you are far above the parking lot. The unit also provided boogie boards and beach mats and toys, which we enjoyed using! The resort is beautiful with fun pools, a great dining option (Dukes) and access to a wonderful beach with excellent snorkeling. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this unit!

I spent several hours online going thru condo ads to sort through what was advertised and what was likely the truth. Ely's place is exactly what she said....awesome. Spacious, airy, and what a lanai! Great ocean views (did the tourist bureau order in the whales for us?) as well as foot hills and Molokai. The pools have everything from perfect for our 2 year old to quiet and serene for those without kids. There is a great safeway-like grocery store within an easy 5 minute walk. Plenty of room on the beach although the waves are a little big for swimming (seemed to be the same along all the resorts here). the onsite restaurant (Duke's) is quite tasty and quick (tho expect 30-45 minute wait if no reservations at night). There's also easy places for takeout in the same complex as the grocery store. And every staff member at the hotel was extremely pleasant and helpful (different from what we experienced on Oahu). The only thing i would avoid is the horseback ride into Haleaakala crater (and that's not Ely's fault!). It's a boring hot 4 hour ride and their horses are not well cared for. You can get the same views walking 1/2 mile into the crater and save yourself a couple hundred bucks. We will definitely be back to this condo!

Our family enjoys Maui and we continue to travel there in the winter and sometimes in the summer. The new area developed by Honua Kai in north Kaanaplli is a beautiful complex. The pools, grounds, accomodations are excellent. All the service people are friendly and very accomodating. The two bedroom apartment was as described, new, well equipped, fresh, lovely ocean views, large lanai (where we had numerous diners with the family). Daily we walked to and from Whalers Village approximately 2 miles each way. There is shopping close by, a gourmet shop and Dukes Restaurant on the grounds. Maui has a variety of actiivities which we continue to enjoy. Off the beach were many, many whales interesting to watch. The owner is most helpful and readily available. The information he provides is very helpful and accurate. Mahalo

This property delivers on all its promises. The large, beautiful lanai provides a great spot to enjoy the view and relax. The floor to ceiling retractable windows in the living and master bedroom areas allowed us to sleep to the sounds of the surf. The property is very clean, pool areas are extremely nice and Duke's restaurant on the premises is a major plus! There is also a well stocked small grocery shop onsite for added convenience. I would definitely recommend this property.

Our family of five just returned from seven days of bliss at this spectacular resort. Ely was fabulous to work with; responding quickly to all emails and providing extensive detail and helpful tips. The unit itself is exactly as described, although I think the views of the ocean are even better than I was expecting from the location and photos. The lanai is superior to all of the other 2 bedroom units. We were blown away by the views of the ocean and the incredible sunsets. The location is ideal - close to all of the shopping and dining Whaler's Village has to offer as well as the many activities that depart fom Lahaina. There is a shopping center directly across the street with a grocery store, and 5 minutes up the road is the Cannery Mall in Lahaina with a Safeway in addition to Starbucks and tons of shopping. The property provides all the ammenities of a 5 star hotel including the on site full service restaurant Duke's Beach House. They serve great Mai Tais poolside, as well as the best fish tacos we have tasted anywhere. The beach in front of the resort was superior to that in front of the Westin and Hyatt, and the snorkling was outstanding. We also appreciated the spaciousness of the resort. There are large grassy areas for tossing around a football in addition to the 3 stunning pools. This is a very well though out resort; the layout of the pool areas encourages families with young children to set up camp near the waterslide, and adults seeking a quiet area to read or enjoy the serenity of the formal infiity edge pool to have their space. The poolside activity center rents high quality snorkling gear at daily or weekly rates and employs knowledgable staff. This was our 6th trip to Maui, and by far our best experience to date. I highly recommend that you contact Ely immediately to reserve your time in paradise; rest assured, you will not be disappointed!

Dear Ely, I have just returned from a weeks stay in your lovely condo. I was there with my 2 daughters & we couldn't have been more comfortable! Your listing & pictures were so helpful & we found everything to be more then accurate. I really appreciated how you had everything mapped out for us. The condo was very clean & welcoming. The front desk in the main tower sent over James to help get our luggage & food from Costco into the condo & he was so helpful & nice! Duke's was ever so handy to stroll over for happy hour or a nice evening dinner. Enjoyed the pools & beach very much! I have recommended your condo to friends & hope to return next fall myself! My new husband and I absolutely LOVED your condo! We could not have asked for better honeymoon accommodations! The view from the condo was excellent, the interior of the condo was fabulous and the Honua Kai Resort grounds were wonderful as well. The location of the resort was perfect for all our activities and outings. We were never more than a 10 minute drive from all of the places we wanted to visit. Needless to say, we had a hard time getting the motivation to leave last Saturday to return home. Whenever we make it a return trip to Maui, we'd definitely love to stay at your condo again! Thanks so much for making our honeymoon SPECTACULAR!

We had so much fun staying in your condo at the Honua Kai. It was absolutely beautiful and lots of room for our family of 5. It was as wonderful as you had described. The kitchen was perfect and it was great that there was also a large table on the lanai to eat our meals. We loved how the entire side of the unit (living room, kitchen and master bedroom) opened up from floor to ceiling to reveal the lanai. It was beautiful to sleep with this whole area open and only the screens shut, listening to the soft sounds of the ocean and light breeze. The area is so open that we never even once turned on the air conditioner. All 4 pools were gorgeous and the kids loved swimmining in them along with the 5 hot tubs. Not crowded either which was great and lots of places to sit/lay. The beach was perfect and the kids spents hours and hours swimming and snorkeling in it. We loved how it also was not crowded. It had lots of sand to play on, much more than the resorts nearby. We walked all the way to Whaler's Village from the Honua Kai. We noticed that most of the other resorts were crowded and the property was not even half as beautiful and spacious as the Honua Kai. We kept saying how happy we were that we stayed here. We would recommend and encourage anyone planning a trip to Maui to stay at your condo. They will love it! Thank you for renting it to us and for being so helpful and informative as we planned our stay there.

Let me first say that I have very high expectations of my accommodations when I'm on vacation. Normally, we stay at one of the Wailea resorts because I quite frankly don't like west Maui but Ely's place and the Honua Kai Resort converted me! Ely's place was absolutely fabulous. It felt like home away from home. Ely was wonderful to work with and when we had questions before and during our stay, he was always available to ensure our stay was a comfortable one. The lanai was huge and spacious. The views are better than the pictures posted. I can't say enough great things about Ely and his wonderful condo! We'll be booking with you next year and will recommend your place to any of our friends traveling to Maui. Mahalo!

We have just returned from an amazing trip to Maui -- a special 40th birthday -- and Ely's place was a big part of our memorable trip. Ely's suite is fantastic - not to mention he is great to deal with. Sometimes when you book on VRBO you do it with your fingers crossed that what you are being "sold" is actually what you are in for. I can say with most certainty that IS the case with Ely's place. The suite is lovely -- great appliances -- washer/dryer -- dishwasher -- nice big comfortable beds -- flat screen tv's in all the rooms -- and the view BETTER than what the pictures show -- we saw whales from the lanai. The suite also comes equipped with beach towels, chairs and boogie boards! The resort is so nice and new -- great pools -- nice walkway to run or stroll on the ocean front. Across the street - a 5 minute walk from the place -- a supermarket to stock up on everything you need. And if you've rented a car the resort is in the perfect spot for exploring the island. Lahaina is a short drive away (10 min or less) - a great little town to explore and buy gifts for those at home. We ate at Lahaina Grill one night - on the pricey side - but a fantastic meal. If you've already booked with Ely - get ready you're in for a treat. If you are still deciding on places - look no further. We miss it already.

We had a wonderful time in HKK 634! The condo was beautiful - large and luxurious as depicted on VRBO. We were celebrating my husbands 50th birthday with another couple - so nice to each have bedrooms with en suites. The lanai was huge - so nice to have access from our bedroom, the kitchen and living room.We often had the sliding glass doors open to enjoy the breezes. Several times we purchased seafood and barbecued it pool side then enjoyed it on the lanai. Every morning we walked the beach - down to black rock and back, watching for turtles and whales. The resort is beautiful. No expense was spared in the decor. There are lots of pools and places to enjoy the sun - never crowded. We enjoyed Dukes restaurant several times - good food and great service and you can't beat the location beach side! Thanks Ely for providing everything we needed for a fabulous trip!

We can't say enough great things about our experience. First Ely was just terrific to deal with as an owner. The condo exceeded our expectations. The beds are super comfortable and all the ammenities were exactly as described. We even had 4 boogie boards and beach chairs plus access to a cooler and beach umbrellas. The pools are all great and the beach is amazing for snorkeling and swimming. The unit is very quiet. And the view was good for whale watching. We like this end of the island as it's a bit quieter. We ate at Dukes which was good and right across the street you can rent videos and get groceries. We will be back

This resort and condo have to be one of the best properties on the island. The views are fabulous from your corner unit on the expansive lanai! Everything in the condo is top of the line from the Bosch appliances to the furniture, bedding and electronics. They beach chairs and cooler were a nice touch for our trips to the beach. The whole property is amazing. They gym is state of the art, there are pools for everyone; kids, families, and couples. The boardwalk along the beach goes for miles. Duke's is oceanfront for a relaxing night. Lahiana and Kapalua are both a short 10 to 15 minute drive and have wonderful shops and dining. Be sure to go out with Captain don in Keihi for snorkeling at Molokini and swimming with the turtles. Ely made our trip a pleasure and was so very helpful! The management company he uses is wonderful too. it was the perfect vacation!

We just returned from a wonderful week at Ely's other condo, KS 359. Our family, 2 adults and 2 sons (ages 18 & 20), thought the condo was beautiful and very comfortable with awesome views. The location worked out great for us. We found the best body surfing/boogie board waves at D T Fleming Beach just 10 minutes north. We also found a disc golf course next to D T Fleming that was fantastic and free. We often dined in Lahania just 10 minutes south. We wanted a very special and memorable vacation with our sons before they headed off to college and it was everything we had hoped for! Ely was great to work with and we highly recommend staying at either of his condos.
