  This condo is the perfect place to stay in san diego! It's close to the beach ( 20 meters) and you are only 1 Block away from the Newport Avenue. This is a Long Street where you can find everything: closetstores, Restaurants, small supermakets and bars. You need 15 minutes to downtown by car , but you can also take the bus. The busstation is 200 meters away from the appartment and it takes 30 minutes. The appartment looks really nice and has everything you need for living. It looks like on the pictures! We ( 2 girls ) lived there for more than a month and it was awesome. Lisa and Tom are such nice persons. We loved our time in oceanbeach!!! A big THANK YOU to Lisa and Tom!!! Last but not least: you have to go to Hodad's! Best Burgers we ever ate!!! Its only 1 Block away and really famous and always a long waiting line on the street, but its worth it!

  We stayed here over Thanksgiving week with our 4 and 6 year old daughters for a vacation and to visit family. This was our second stay, having stayed in 2009 with a toddler and infant. We LOVE this condo. It is very close to the pier, beach and restaurants, 1 block or less, but off the main drag enough to be quiet. Having a parking space is great, too. Tom & Lisa have anticipated everything a family might need, from basic staples in the kitchen (sarah wrap, spices, olive oil) to beach and family needs (beach towels, chairs, toys, even sunscreen if you forget!) We love not having to pack anything except a bathing suit to be ready for a great beach vacation. The property was very clean and well maintained. We did have a problem with the garbage disposal and shower door while we were there, however both were fixed in less than a day when we called and they were very responsive. Laundry in the building is KEY for a family with small children. The patio is great for grilling and relaxing, although it doesn't get very much sun, so we spent a lot of time at the beach to get a daily dose of vitamin D! We rarely saw any neighbors and the complex was very quiet and safe. Ocean beach is a laid back wonderful little beach town with lots of surfers and free spirits. Perfect for a relaxing beach vacation. This condo is a fantastic value for a family, offering great convenience and comfort. Way better than any hotel. We will definitely stay here again for our next San Diego visit, which I hope will be soon!

  We had a great stay at Tropical Ocean Retreat! The condo was spotlessly clean, comfortably furnished, and located in a safe, good location. We were in walking distance from the ocean, pier, shopping, church, fun bars. Lisa is the perfect host and made us feel right at home. We would love to return!

  Just a quick 1/2 block to the beach and pier. CLEAN! well appointed kitchen. Sand toys for kids. + boogie boards and surf board. Lovely enclosed private patio with grill.. very nice landscape work, secure with gated entry to patio. Close walk to restaurants, and shops, but far enough away to be quiet. We will certainly return. Great place to stay.

  My husband and I have been using VRBO rentals for about 6 years and this unit was the most well equipped and organized we have ever rented. Well equipped kitchen, beach toys for my grandson and quality TV's. The location was perfect to walk to the beach or walk the pier and enjoy the sun sets. We hope to visit again. Thanks Lisa for making our stay perfect.

  We searched out several places to visit for our week vacation. This property was great! It was only steps away from the ocean pier and Ocean Beach. A short walk to the main strip with several restaurants and gift shops. We stayed for a week and had a great time! This is a place we will definitely visit again soon. Property neighbors were friendly and the condo was very comfortable. Lisa and Tom have a wonderful place to visit for vacation!

  We returned for a second year during our kids Spring Break. Everything was great, just as it was the year before. This year we did something a little different. From the guest guide book we found the Ocean Beach Surf Shop and rented wet suits for the family, since the water was a bit cold. Excellent time had by all. Kids already asking when we can go back again. If you looking for a place in San Diego, you won't be dissapointed. Tom and Lisa Hoyer are very pleasant to deal with and the property is 1st class. Everything as advertised. John, Karen, Brandon, Nicole, and Erica

  This is a very clean, comfortable condo, just steps away from the beach in an eclectic neighborhood. An incredible value for the price! Both Lisa and Tom--the owners--are very attentive. We arrived an hour earlier, but were able to check in right away. The location is perfect as well--a quiet street and quick access to everywhere in San Diego make a comfortable stay. Enjoy your next San Diego vacation at the Tropical Ocean Retreat!

  We recently stayed for a four day get-away. The flat was perfect for our needs, as it had a pack-n-play and high chair for our 11mo baby and some beach toys for our 3.5 son. Lisa and Tom were very accommdating and responsive and we had very good vibes before our arrival. The flat gets a bit hot if you are out all day and the weather heats up but it cools off quickly once you open the windows and start the fans. Even had a portable air conditioner but we didn't really need it. Could hear the ocean with windows open. Great location for walking around O.B. and the pier which was part of our daily routine. Kitchen and bathrooms were updated and very functional. Beds were comfortable. Would definitely return.

  We just stayed at the Tropical Ocean Retreat and it was fantastic! Lisa and Tom were great and very responsive before and after our trip. The condo is beautifully decorated with the comforts of home and is very welcoming. The surrounding area has a ton of great local restaurants and walking trails. If you can schedule your visit for a Wednesday, I would highly recommend the downtown farmer's market which allows you to taste a lot of the local fare. I would hands down recommend the condo and we will be back. Thanks again Lisa and Tom for sharing your wonderful condo.
