Our Smoky Mountain cabin rental is located in Townsend, Tn near the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains, Cades Cove, Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. It is an authentic Appalachian log cabin located on a ridge surrounded by beautiful hardwoods, hollies and hemlocks in peaceful Townsend, Tennessee. Townsend is the Peaceful Side of the Smokies and our cabin has a porch all the way across the front with swing and rockers to relax and enjoy the serenity of the magnificient Smoky Mountains in Townsend, Tn. It is a great place for wildlife, biking, hiking, picnicking, exploring and horseback riding. You can go back in time when you visit the log cabins in Cades Cove that was occupied by the early settlers in the Smokies.

Townsend, Tn has about a five-mile-long walking/biking trail. It runs along both sides of highway, along the river in some places and has 3 tunnels underneath the highway, so you won't have to cross the highway. It goes almost to the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park.

The Little River in Townend Tennessee is great for tubing, fishing, and swimming. It is a wide rocky and normally clear river that runs along the highway and is accessible at various public locations.

Gatlinburg, Dollywood, Dixie Stampede, Ripley's Aquarium and action-packed Pigeon Forge are only 20 to 30 minutes away.

I have stayed in many of the Wrights cabins over the last 11 years. They are alway clean and well stocked. Mama's cabin is one of my favorites!

A great away from it all cabin. Surrounded by trees, peaceful and yet close to the local facillities in Townsend. Everything you could need is available in Mama's cabin. While the cabin was great for 2 and we didn't even use the spacious upstairs rooms we would highly recommend Mama's for families. The cabin was clean and the owners were charming and helpful. I hope we get to stay again in this cute cabin.

Great cabin, private and secluded, but still close to popular places like Cades Cove. The cabin itself is always clean and feels like home away from home. Highly recommended.

My husband and I have stayed at several of the Wright Cabins in the Smokies, and we prefer Moose Creek. While all of the cabins are completely furnished with most everything you need, we always go back to Moose Creek. The cabin has a beautiful view of the mountains and there is a porch that goes around the cabin you can sit and watch the birds. Last fall we had our nephews up for the day with their sons and the boys loved playing outside on the hills and going for walks. The cabin is always very clean when we arrive. Last fall there were a few ladybugs up on the second floor, but there was no cause for alarm. Ladybugs are a very beneficial insect, and we always look at them as a sign of good luck. Being from Florida, we much prefer ladybugs to lovebugs. We have been up in the spring, summer, and fall and have never seen any swarms of ladybugs. This cabin is located across from The Lily Barn, so if a wedding is planned during your stay, you can hear the music drifting up the mountain, or check out their beautiful day lilies. There are many wonderful restaurants, antique stores, and gift shops that we prefer in Townsend as to the hectic pace of Pigeon Forge and look forward to our trip back to Moose Creek this spring.

Stayed in Smokies in various areas for over 30 years. Mama's Cabin was one of the best, not only the cabin itself (so comfortable, clean, perfect wooded setting), but the Wrights' friendliness and warmth just complemented our visit. Wish we could have spent more time there, but we were on a mission to find a getaway in the mtns. This was a very special trip for us, as we now have a contract on our own place in the Smokies. Our only regret is that we likely won't be staying at Mama's Cabin again. Would like to stop by and say hi to the Wrights, though (when in town).

The cabin is wonderful. We had two families stay together a total of seven people and our two Labrador retrievers. The layout of the cabin is very roomy with bathrooms upstairs and downstairs. We loved getting up in the morning and eating a big breakfast together on the long dining table that accommodated all of our members. From the dining area you can look out the windows and view beautiful mountain scenery. The cabin has a covered porch all the way around that allows you to sit and just watch the rain come down. We highly recommend this cabin to anyone that has a large group that needs a place to stay while visiting the Smokey Mountains.

The owner was a doll. She did her best to be accommodating and was very pleasant to work & visit with. The cabin we rented was private but not exactly as it appears in the photo. No real usable property aside from the very steep & primitive driveway. The little bit of land seen in the photo (behind the porch) is for cars to park. Right behind that is a very high & steep wall of loose rock/dirt. The interior had a cute decor but was not cleaned well prior to our arrival. We had a pre-arranged lunchtime check-but still wound up having to wait until almost 4pm for it to be cleaned. When we finally arrived we were surprised and alarmed to see swarms of insects around the cabin. We quickly went inside to find that it wasn't much better than the outside. Bedding looked fresh and the kitchen appeared clean but that was about it. The floors, counters, stairs & furniture cushions had dead bugs all over them and none had been swept or vacuumed clean. There were thousands of live bugs throughout the cabin, some along the couches, countertops, ceiling fan blades, walls, etc. They were everywhere! Even on us as we walked thru the cabin. Could not possibly open any windows as there were thousands (more) were still swarming outside. The most disappointing part of this was that the owner's husband & son (very polite folks) were the very ones who cleaned this place just minutes before we got there, yet they never mentioned a single word about the swarming bugs. Even as we were handed directions to their cabin, not a word was spoken about the swarm. When we called the owner from the cabin to report the problem, she seemed very surprised. After she spoke with her husband, she called me back to advise that yes, he noticed them too. She made another phone call to a friend who advised her that this is a yearly occurrance in that area and can last up to 3 weeks. I believed her but was still disappointed that her husband & son knew about it but said absolutely nothing until and only AFTER we spoke up. We said that we could not stay there. She did her best to help us by offering another cabin but it was booked midway thru our stay so another move on our part would have been required. Also, it was not what we had in mind so after thanking her for offering it, she agreed to tear up our check & we moved on. Clearly we were not impressed with the situation but since she was so nice, we would probably work with her again. :)

Recommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners.

Owner response: These were Lady Bugs that swarm certain times of the year, just like Love Bugs do. The guests that had left that day had not said anything about them and they swarm in certain areas, so I was not aware of them swarming. They swarm in as soon as a door is open. They fall out of the catheral ceilings and off the walls as soon as you vacuum them up. The doors are opened often when someone is leaving as well as coming in and it doesn't take long for them to fly in, but a lot longer to get them out. She was offered 2 places, one that she would had to have moved once and another one that she would not have, but she declined the offers. She did ask for a bit earlier check in time and I told her I could not assure her of one and they arrived just shortly after check out time, The cabin was clean. There was ladybugs inside that had swarmed in where the doors were openwhile getting out from cleaning it and the guests that didn't stay going in and out. These people were here to try to find property to relocate to this area, so I just hope they pick one where the ladybugs don't swarm once a year and God only knows where that will be.
