Location Location Location! This house is just off of Upper Bear Creek Road. South-facing at 7300 feet, it is cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Fantastic hiking and cross country skiing trailheads are minutes away on literally every point of the compass, the graphic below shows some of the closest ones. The natural beauty, serenity and privacy are combined with easy access to Denver. The metro area is 30 minutes and you can be right downtown in 45. Red Rocks Amphitheatre is 20 minutes down the canyon. Loveland ski area is less than an hour away. Arapahoe Basin, Winter Park/Mary Jane, the Summit Count Resorts and Vail/Beaver Creek are all accessible for day trips. Both the airport and Boulder are less than an hour away. If you prefer a more remote mountain experience, check our our VRBO in Salida (#99827).
Evergreen is the original bedroom community of Denver, and Upper Bear Creek is its oldest and most prestigious residential area. The Gates (of Gates Rubber) and the Evans (Mount Evans and Governor Evans) built their "summer cottages" on Upper Bear Creek and the wealthy of Denver followed Suit.
Upper Bear Creek Road is "above the light" in downtown Evergreen (very important for access to I-70, skiing and Denver). It passes beautiful Evergreen Lake (with hiking paths, fishing and free boating access, bring your canoe, kayak or Sunfish or rent a paddle boat), the community Lake House (ice skate rental in winter for skating on the lake), and Evergreen Golf Course (public, bring your clubs), where you can often see elk grazing. It follows the creek through a gorgeous canyon dotted with vintage mansions. 3.5 miles back, our house is less than one hundred yards up the north (south-facing) side of the valley. You can clearly hear the creek and glimpse it through the trees from the front yard.
The house sits on a forested, park-like half acre and has excellent privacy in all directions. It has lovely, comfortable living space inside and out. This is a new VRBO in September of 07, and most of the furniture and the linens are new. The main living area has a stone fireplace, as does the master bedroom. We have another VRBO in Salida, with many satisfied customers, so we have given much thought to what amenities make your home away from home.

Vintage Evergreen Privacy Trees Quiet Upper Bear Creek Area
Year Purchased: 1994
Why the Owner Chose Evergreen
Evergreen is gorgeous, especially the part where our house is. Although it has all the advantages of the mountains, the Metro area is 30 minutes by car, and downtown Denver is 45 minutes. Skiing is also close by and you can get to Winter Park/Mary Jane without travelling on I-70.
The Unique Benefits at this House
The summer climate is ideal. The hiking and mountain biking are without peer. Red Rocks is 20 minutes down the canyon. In the winter, Evergreen's reputation of being in the "Banana Belt" is well founded, especially for south-facing properties like ours.
