Come experience an amazing, beautifully appointed solar-powered vacation house on St. John! Here you will experience truly green living and will realize how well you can live while remaining in balance with the world around you.

The Villa features an expansive veranda with 180-degree views of the ocean, a garden, and a pool. It also has a full kitchen, a gas grill, and a small library of books, board games, and music. In the bedroom, you'll find a beautiful queen-sized pillow-top sleigh bed, where you can fall asleep to the sounds of the waves crashing on the beach below or to the Bose CD player next to your bed.

The Cottage is a charming studio suite, featuring a wonderfully comfortable pillow-top full-sized bed, a fantastic couch, and an in-laid tile breakfast table. Surrounding the Cottage is a wonderful covered balcony and uncovered wrap-around porch, with 180-degree ocean views. The Cottage also has a beautiful outdoor stone shower, an outdoor kitchen and gas grill, and an indoor food and dish storage area with a small refrigerator.

Both the Villa and the Cottage feature beautiful, luxurious furnishings to make guests as comfortable as possible.

The Unique Benefits at this House and Cottage

A House of Open Arms is solar-powered and purified rainwater-fed. It sits amid lush tropical gardens, a 240 degree view of the sea. Cooling easterly breezes come up the hill making the need for a/c obsolete. Hawks, kestrels, bananaquits, Lesser Antilles bull finches, Puerto Rican bull finches, and magnificent frigates float above with the crashing sea below. This is truly a nature lover's paradise. It is made all the sweeter by the knowledge that the electricity and water used on the property are collected from the sun and sky, with minimal impact on the surrounding environment.

    • We stayed at A House of Open Arms near Coral Bay on St John the first week of July. I did quite a bit of research to find our “perfect” St John rental and I’m convinced that I could not have been more fortunate to find this wonderful (and exceedingly affordable) gem. The location just outside Coral Bay is superb. Check out the website to see the incredible views from the villa. The entire complex was designed by a very talented architect who normally only works on much larger projects on the island. The interior of the one bedroom villa, while small, is well-designed to take full advantage of the hillside location. There is also a small honeymoon cottage just a few steps down from the villa which can be rented separately or together with the villa. Both are owned and run by a local artist, Catherine Perry, whose hospitality and attention to detail made for a very enjoyable experience. She was always available to help ensure we were getting the most from our stay on St John but was never intrusive. Catherine has thoughtfully provided many items that we didn’t expect but which we certainly appreciated such as beautiful wine glasses, china plates, a great mattress on the bed, Tupperware containers, vacuum wine bottle caps, high quality shampoo and shower gel and beach towels & coolers for beach use. She is also having a small pool installed just outside the villa so be sure to check to see if that has been completed. The pool will make it even more fantastic to stay there.
