We had Thanksgiving in the most beautiful place on Earth. We brought food and clothing and moved right in. The three bedrooms with their own bathrooms was so nice! The kitchen could not have been easier to cook a Thanksgiving feast in! Huge stove and ovens, I was in Heaven! Every gadget and spice you would ever need. Huge new fridge that made food prep a breeze. We watched movies and played games, our golden retriever found her spot in front of the fire. Having a large fenced area for her to explore was wonderful. Walking outside with a cup of coffee in the morning and seeing Mt. Shasta so close literally took my breath away. On Friday we took a ride, started at McCloud lower falls, worked our way up and ended the spectacular adventure at Burney Falls. Stunning! A must do for anyone staying in McCloud. The fly fishing in Dunsmuir was great and just 10 minutes away. The whole family keeps telling me how perfect the trip was. We are already planning our next trip to Shasta Rainbow House! Every email and detail in renting this house was fast and easy. Mimi is a joy to work with!Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

McCloud is half way between Sebastopol, where we live, and Bend ,Oregon where our son & family lives. We chose Rainbow House for a family get-together over the Father's Day weekend and our choice could not have been more perfect. We are very familiar with the area and Rainbow House is exactly what we were looking for. The house was immaculate, the kitchen well stocked and the yard was perfect for our two Golden Retrievers. Also, if you enjoy "The Sound of Silence", Rainbow House is the place to be. We did some adventuring on Saturday and spent most of Sunday relaxing in the front yard, marveling at the view of Mt. Shasta. Sunday evening, Father's Day, we had dinner at the Dogwood Diner in Dunsmuir. Wow! what a treat. The food was amazing and the service was second to none. We met so many great folks in McCloud during our short visit, we want to return soon so we can pick up where we left off. All in all, our stay at Rainbow House was just what we needed - wonderful.Recommended for: Pet owners, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

This place is perfect if you are a dog family! A fully fenced yard was so nice to have. The house itself was clean and well maintained. The front porch swing was so relaxing it was hard to start our day after sitting there relaxing with coffee. If you are looking for an affordable, practical vacation rental this is it. The kitchen was perfectly stocked with spices, cookware, and little this likw saran wrap etc. Great grill out back. If you like to cook the stove is amazing!!! The yard is grass back and front, the dogs loved do to laps and chase each other, or just enjoy the elevated view laying on the front porch. It was perfect for a quiet get away. the owners quickly responded to all calls and emails also.Recommended for: Pet owners, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway.

For my Wife's 50th birthday, her Sister, and her Sister's family came down from Washington, and we came up from the Wine Country in California to live, love and laugh. The Rainbow House was exactly what we wanted! Small-town quiet, home-like rooms, comfortable furniture, 2 fenced yards for the dogs, plenty of parking for 3 cars and 2 motorcycle trailers, a full-size washer/dryer and...each bedroom has its own full bathroom!!! And that kitchen...OMG! My Wife's Sister loves to cook; she raved about the well stocked cupboards (there was everything!), the large assortment of spices, with plenty of work area...and that professional quality stove! The large table in the dining room easily held all 6 of us for meals, birthday cake, cards, and lots of family bonding time. Both my Brother-in-Law and I ride street motorcycles, and the places to ride in the area were great! Smooth pavement, little traffic and some nice twisties! We logged many enjoyable miles, and saw some really beautiful scenery! The property owner couldn't have been more accomodating. Even though the house had just undergone some major improvements, and there were a few small details still left to finish up, it was clean, well furnished, fully stocked, and ready for us when we arrived. We will definitely stay at Rainbow House again! It's so much nicer to fall asleep the the sound of crickets and gentle breezes rather than to sirens and the neighbor's swimming pool pump after a good day's riding.Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers.

The Rainbow House was exactly what we were looking for in a vacation away from it all. The location was wonderful and served as a great base camp for the Shasta area. We toured the dam, Shasta Caverns, and Castle Crags. The McCloud area was rich in history and nature. Thank you Mimi for sharing your house with us!Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

Our family spent 10 days in the McCloud area. We fished, biked, hiked, swam, and RELAXED! Our homebase for our trip was the Shasta Rainbow House. The house was well appointed with comfortable beds, nice landscaping, a well-stocked kitchen (the waffle iron was THE BEST!), books, DVDs, games, comfy chairs, and lawn/patio funiture that beckoned us to nap and read outside. Even our dog felt right at home:-). I would highly recommend this comfortable home to individuals, couples and families who are looking for a place to step back in time with all of the creature comforts of present day.Recommended for: Pet owners, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

We enjoyed staying at the Rainbow House, and found Mimi(the owner) to be very easy to deal with. The kitchen was wonderful - nice stove and good cooking utensils - so that we decided to make dinner several times for family and friends who were also staying in the area. Usually rental homes/condos have very cheap & limited cooking utensils and dishes, but that wasn't the case here, so it was easy to prepare some nice big meals. We also liked the heater, which gave off nice, clean heat -- good for someone with allergies, and resulting in a nice-smelling house (unlike some with older - often dirty - air ducts). The bathrooms were also very up-to-date and clean, and it was nice to have 1 for each bedroom! We would stay at the Rainbow House again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My family stayed in Rainbow house for a ski weekend and it was delightful. Many rental ads say well stocked kitchen but this one truly is. All the bedrooms are comfortable and having three baths after a day on the mountain is heaven. It was delightful to have our dogs join us and they loved all the snow.Did you find this review helpful? We stayed at the Shasta Rainbow House for Thanksgiving. It was a great place to celebrate with the cozy woodstove and the wonderful kitchen. The kitchen was well-stocked and the awesome stove/oven even had warming lights to keep our food warm! The fenced yard was great for our dogs so we didn't have to go out with them every time they needed out. The house was very clean and comfortable with adequate seating in the living room, comfy beds, videos, and board games to play. The view of Mt. Shasta right out the door of the house was unbelievable and beautiful! We even cut down our Christmas tree and found 3 beautiful trees in an hour not too far from town! Mimi was very helpful and wonderful to work with during the rental process. I highly recommend this rental - we will be back!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1
