I have stayed at the turtle suite at Kapoho Joes a few times now and I always love it. It is a small, quaint place to relax and listen to the ocean as you fall asleep. I loved the owner's, Art and Joan. They made me feel so comfortable and when I left I felt like I was leaving family. My favorite part is waking up to the breeze coming through the windows with fresh air, then walking out and sitting on the little porch with a nice cup of coffee. If you want to relax, this is the place to do it! So cute, so clean and so comfortable! I would recommend to anyone!

Stayed in the Turtle Suite during a July 2011 visit to Hawaii and loved it. Walk to the beach and very close to Champagne Pond. Don't look for the white sand beaches here but you will enjoy the lawn area overlooking the Alapai Point and easy access to a lava beach for swimming, snorkeling and sun bathing! Very private adn quiet are. Loved it!!

Charming suite just steps away from the ocean

This property was perfect for my five year-old son and I! It was just a few houses back from the ocean...close enough to hear the relaxing sound of the waves. Although the closest ocean spot was too rough for swimming, my son had a wonderful time exploring the black sand beach and the "treasures' he found such as a lobster shell and old anchor. We also used the golf cart to drive around this beautiful gated community and visit a marine sanctuary, several beach access points, and Champagne pond. Champagne Pond, a geothermally heated pond bordering the ocean, was only minutes away on a golf cart and a 15-20 minute walk. The property is low-key, but provides everything a family or couple needs, such a laundry facilities, snorkeling equipment, and a small kitchen. The bedroom has a window unit, and although the listing only says the bedroom is air conditioned, it actually is a powerful enough unit to cool the whole suite. The suite was clean and had really cute beach decor (surf board, turtles, etc.). The owners were also incredibly accommodating. They gave me a discount since this was a last minute rental. Then, on top of that, they allowed me to do a late check out for a very reasonable fee. And finally, when I had to stay an additional night unexpectedly, they also charged a reduced fee. This was on top of the fact that the base-rate for this rental was already an incredible deal. My only suggestion to the owners is that some things were a little run-down and should be replaced (the bikes were rusty and the living room rug had a big stain on it). But everything else was perfect and this property was just an amazing deal! I would definitely stay there again.

"We spent a week here at t his lovely place. Quiet, serene and gorgeous. Do not miss out on champagne Pond. Check it out the first or second day of your stay. ..I loved listening to the birds and the waves. We had many lovely meals out on the patio. Joanie has thought of every possible thing to make the stay a very comfortable one. This place is just beautiful. We hung out here a lot, we were so comfortable. to top it off the moon was full so we had ambient light for the lovely tropical nights and we would walk over to the beach!. "We spent several peaceful nights on the lanai listening to the waves from the bay. Sometimes sipping cocktails, barbequing and sometimes just sitting. The nights that it rained, my husband called the bay "Thunder Bay" as the waves were roaring. While we were here we met the whole gecko family, big and small. Also a couple of mongoose.
