The 'Main House' is a two-story, four (4) bedroom, one and a half (1.5) bathroom renovated historic home. The house can accommodate eight (8) guests - one (1) queen bed, one (1) full bed, three (3) twin beds, and one (1) queen sleeper sofa. The house has a wrap-around upper balcony, and a wrap-around porch, overlooking the pool, sun deck, and Thomas Street.
The house is completely furnished with linens, towels, has a full kitchen (all cooking and eating utensils), Corian countertops, maple cabinets, Samsung side-by-side refrigerator (icemaker, serve thru water/ice dispenser), GE microwave, Whirlpool dishwasher, full size washer and dryer, central A/C (zoned Trane - 5 tons), 6 ceiling fans, cable TV, (2) Sony 32" flat screen HDTVs, (1) Apex 36" TV, Sony DVD player, Panasonic CD/AM/FM player, internet telephones, and secured high speed wi-fi internet access, ADT Security System (24 hour central monitoring).
Master Bedroom
The master bedroom has a queen size bed, clothes closet, dresser, 52" Hunter ceiling fan, and a 32" Sony flatscreen HDTV.
Second Bedroom
The second bedroom has a full size bed, a clothes closet, a dresser, and a 52" Hunter ceiling fan.
Third Bedroom
The third bedroom has a two (2) twin beds (trundle), a dresser, and a 52" Hunter ceiling fan.
Fourth Bedroom
The fourth bedroom has a twin bed, a dresser, a 52" Hunter ceiling fan, and a 32" Sony flatscreen HDTV.
The five (5) house compound is private and secure with a 30' x 10' pool including a 5' x 10' Jacuzzi. In addition, there is a private 10' x 8' heated Jacuzzi. There are brick walkways, and a 40' x 10' sun deck, including a stainless steel propane barbecue, chaise lounges for sunbathing and relaxing; and tables and chairs for dining. Throughout the property there is secured wireless internet access, and cctv security monitoring.
The landscaping is lush including various palm species, Poinciana, Spanish limes, avocado, bananas, hibiscus, bougainvillea, haliconias, bromeliads, and orchids, brick walkways.
The house is located at the corner of Thomas and Angela Streets - (2) blocks west of the center of Duval Street; (4) blocks east of Fort Zachary Taylor State Park/Beach. The gated compound is within easy walking or biking distance to everything in Old Town Key West. (Rental terms are minimum (30) days, stays may be less - rates are are appropriately negotiable.)

A group of us age 30 and above rented the main house at the Bahama Gardens in Key West from Jan. 7-10th 2012. At no time was it ever indicated in the "lease", via email, or listed on any of his websites that we were to expect that the owner and the maintenance guy was going to perform some heavy work on the grounds in the common areas when we were there. One hot tub wasn't working, the other....it was drained for the majority of the time. The performed maintenance made the common grounds near the pool, etc. uninviting. Also, I had mentioned that on the first evening due to an overbooking a friend was going to stay overnight the first night. The owner then commented "we would work it out". After our return home, i had to call and ASK for the deposit back. The owner said that he would get on it immediately. A few days later I received a certified letter stating that the owner was charging us for the extra people in the house for 3 nights. Almost the entire deposit was gone. I wouldn't ever recommend staying there, he was shady and stole our deposit.
Owner response:Terms and Conditions of the signed rental agreement were breached - the rental agreement and the Property Rules (of which the lessee had a copy of each) clearly state additional guests are not permitted - charges against the security deposit are meant to act as a deterrent. Additional guests in addition to those permitted to occupy the house and property were caught on surveillance cameras staying in the house and using the facilities on the property - the lessee admitted occupancy violations after the fact - and offered me a beer! The guests used the pool and Jacuzzi after hours, were very loud, obnoxious, and immature; they used extremely vulgar language, bragged of sexual exploits, and disturbed other guests staying on the property. The 'heavy work' referred to consisted of a tree being trimmed - and at the time, the guests were not on the property. The security deposit was returned within 15 days, as required by Florida Statutes. As far as being 'shady', Shelli Dicken is the one that snuck additional guests into the house without permission. And as far as the libelous remark that I 'stole' the deposit - a small portion of the agreed upon expenses were deducted, and the balance of the security deposit was returned to the lessee, in accordance with Florida Statutes.

My husband and I celebrated our 19 year anniversary at Bahama Gardens and stayed in the Cigar House. The rental is only two blocks from Duval and the accomodations were very well appointed with everything that we needed. Thank you again Steven and John for your hospitality and helping to make our anniversary vacation a memorable one!
Recommended for:Adventure seekers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, tourists without a car.

My family rented this house for a week in January 2010. We loved the house-it accomodates 8 perfectly-you can walk just about anywhere from the location. Nice pool & jacuzzi (even though it was too cold for us to swim !) I suggest that you bring towells for the beach, since the house in only equuipped with bath towells. Otherwise, it had everything we needed.
Recommended for:Girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, tourists without a car.
