Yellowstone Historic Vacation Home just three miles from Yellowstone National Park!
This is a great location for potentially viewing Yellowstone Park wildlife right from the house.
The Yellowstone Historic Vacation Home was used at the turn of the century as a railroad wayside home for travelers to Yellowstone National Park. Today this historic home still has the same expansive views of the magnificent Electric Peak, the surrounding mountain ranges and rolling pastures, where you'll often see buffalo and antelope grazing. This three story home has recently been renovated and features comfortable rustic furnishings with that Montana flair. It is open year round with easy access to Yellowstone Park, with its world famous geysers, bubbling paint pots, pastel painted canyon walls, which can be enjoyed at the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone and its famous Artist Point, the Boiling River Hot Springs close to Gardiner, and abundant wildlife including bears, wolves, coyotes, deer, elk, pronghorns, mountain goats, big horn sheep, eagles, etc.
This 3000 sf home comes complete with high quality western furniture, a fully supplied kitchen with upscale appliances, beautiful cookware, and all kitchen utensils you might need. All the following items are new: TV, DVD player, washer/dryer, fine linens and towels. Other amenities provided are laundry powder, hand and body soap. Just bring your clothes and food!
You'll love the expansive yard with its shade trees, lilac bushes, picnic table, BBQ grill and lawn furniture. Just picture yourself there, as you absorb the peace and quiet of the Rocky Mountains in all of their glory, as you look out on Electric Peak and the surrounding pastures.

Rentals rarely embody the ability to support what can be a beautiful total vacation experience. This property, with the architecture, features and location, provided my family with a home that we could thoroughly enjoy the experience of Yellowstone and surrounding areas. It is a place of peace, of clean comfort, and free of distraction. There is a heart to this home...one that is now part of our hearts.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We had a wonderful time in this glorious old home that wasn't like an old home at all. We had all the amenities needed and the house was upgraded beautifully. We had plenty of room for all of us (15 in all) and the yard was wonderful for the kids to blow off steam after a day at Yellowstone. The kitchen was large enough for several cooks and it was within a reasonable distance to Gardiner and Yellowstone. My only dislike was the road to the property was gravel. Minor inconvenience compared to the home itself. Having the laundry was a lifesaver with 7 children in tow. Cell phone reception was terrible in the area but it was great to have the wi fi available so everyone could keep in contact if need be. We would love to come back again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: A drive that might lead you to lots of grazing animals is the Old Yellowstone Trail South (the gravel road you mentioned) that takes you to the town of Gardiner. I’ve seen lots of buffalo, elk, mountain goats, antelope, deer, foxes and bears. Other vacation home owners recommend this road to their renters because some times you can see more animals here than in the Park. MZ

This house is over 100 years old, but is extremely well maintained inside and out, with modern appliances and not a creaking floor to be found. We easily accomodated two families and 9 people without needing to use the extra room and beds in the attic. The beds are of very good and solid quality, though we would have appreciated firmer pillows (a minor quibble). Wireless internet worked flawlessly and was easy to set up on multiple devices. It served as a perfect home base to explore Yellowstone - it's a 12 minute drive to Gardiner where you can get everything you need to manage the household. Going back and forth was no trouble at all. The property management is straightforward and helpful, responding quickly to emails. Highly recommended.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.
Owner response: Thanks for your review! When we remodeled the house (in 2006) we did buy everything new: furniture, mattresses, bedding, kitchen appliances, silverware, etc. The house was remodeled from floor to ceiling, that is why it looks like a brand new home. There are some firm pillows in the house, but I'll be happy to get some more. Gracias! MZ

We were total 4 families/12 members wanted to visit Yellowstone. You can enjoy Yellostone, but a good stay is a definitely a plus during your visit to Yellowstone and this one house was a perfect example of that. We reached there during night hours so everything was just dark, but when we woke up next morning, it was just awesome..........Could not ask for more on our first morning and the house was very well organized. As soon as we entered the house, everyone was like.WOW.......Children: WOW!!!This is such a big house, how many days are we gonna stay here? They were running all over the house getting acquainted to it........Ladies: WOW!!! This is such a neatly arranged house, there is everything we need in this house, great kitchen, large dining hall, and what not..............And we gentlemen were praising ourselves for choosing such a wonderful house.......It can easily accommodate 14 people as said on the web site........Gives privacy to every family........children have bunk beds, so owners have thought of everyone choosing to live there.........I would plan to visit it again some time in future and hope to get the same house again...........I wish all the best to Maricruz and thank for such a wonderful experienceRecommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

The house is lovely, huge and clean. The location is spectacular, with local wildlife and views of both Electric Peak and Sepulchre Mountain. Thanks so much!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: East of Electric Peak, across the deeply cut valley of Reese Creek, lies Sepulchre Mountain, so called from a mass of breccia on one of its high northwest spurs, which resembles a sarcophagus. The mountain rises to a height of 9,600 feet, and stands isolated from the surrounding peaks, from which it is separated by geological faults and also by deep drainage channels. It is composed of volcanic breccias and massive lavas that form a body of rock 3,000 feet thick, resting on Cretaceous and older strata. The southern and southwestern slopes of the mountain are rounded from the action of the ice which has passed over the mountain from the Gallatin range. They are mostly covered with grass and sage brush, and present comparatively few rock exposures. This is also the character of the hills and ridges southwest of the mountain, which lie east of the fault at the base of Electric Peak, and form part of the geological body of Sepulchre Mountain.

"We have returned to the Historic Home after our first stay of July 2009. Once again, we felt at peace at this beautiful home. We felt very blessed and fortunate to be able to spend with some of our children and grandchildren and to make this 4th of July a very special one. Thank you for letting us share this lovely place that we care for so much!"Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

A lovely place and so close to the Park. The amenities were wonderful, so comfortable and an-at- home feeling. We had a very happy time here, and thank you so much for your hospitality. If we ever are so fortunate, we will stay here again. We found everything and more than we needed for a comfortable stay. P.S The Park is gorgeous too as are the grounds surrounding your house"Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.
