Chuburna is uniquely different from the frenzy of Cancun! Our beach house is located between the friendly fishing villages of Chuburna and Chelem, Yucatan. It is located 15 minutes from the Port of Progreso and 35 minutes from the beautiful colonial city of Merida. The airport is in Merida and the code is MID.
Our beach house is fully furnished and designed for complete relaxation, for a week or for months at a time, yet accessible to the large Port of Progreso and the major city of Merida for all your needs. This house is located in a tranquil area with American, Canadian and British neighbors who live there months at a time. We are within 5 minutes by car from the town of Chuburna where you will find the locals to be some of the most hospitable and friendly people.
Our family has enjoyed this house for the last 18 years as a vacation home with our 4 kids and we look forward to relaxing there for months at a time when we retire, and someday with our grandchildren too. This beach house is perfect to disconnect yourself and emerge in a very laid back environment but with enough activities nearby.

Why the Owner Chose Progreso
I spent entire summer vacations, meaning July and August, as a child and teenager, with family and friends, on the beautiful and tranquil beaches of Chuburna, Yucatan and its most hospitable local people, and I wanted my children to have the same great experience and memories that I have of those great times. My husband and I also plan on spending months at a time there when we retire and plan on bringing our grandchildren along to continue the family tradition. It has been an excellent way to truly experience the culture of the beautiful Yucatan.
The Unique Benefits at this House
The tranquil emerald ocean, the beautiful clean beaches, the friendly local people, and now the new foreign neighbors, are the perfect combination for any length of vacation for family with children or long stay for retired people. Plus there is so much of the Yucatan to explore, and most of it during day trips. It is a great place to enjoy for simple people surrounded by friendly hospitable local people...not a tourist trap.

I went with my best girlfriends for a few weeks and had a wonderful time! The pictures posted on this website did the house no justice- the view from the front porch is breathtaking. The house is well kept and the owners/care takers are there for anything. We didn't have any problems and loved every minute. The house is located just far enough away that we had peace and tranquility on the beach but close enough for us to go into the city to dance the night away! Also, there are a surprising amount of places to go: natural caves, haciendas, ruins, etc. You will not run out of places to see! The kitchen is well equipped for cooking at home but there are towns close by with delicious fresh seafood and authentic mexican tacos. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be returning!
Recommended for:Adventure seekers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This beachfront property is absolutely gorgeous. Walking out onto the backporch and seeing the endless ocean and beach is amazing. I spent several days laying on the beach reading and enjoying the cool breeze and sunshine. This is a great place to take some time to relax and really experience what a vacation is all about. Also Progreso is only a 15 minutes drive away and is a great place to go to get out of the house and enjoy some good food.
Recommended for:Girls getaway.

I stayed on this beachhouse in June for about 2 weeks and it was fantastic! I'd go back in a heartbeat! The ocean was breathtakingly beautiful. So calm and serene. The weather was great for swimming and just laying out on the beach. We went barefoot into the beach all the time and the shoreline was very safe. Not too many rocks or seaweed. You are able to go really far out into the ocean with minimal waves and still being able to stand! Many chairs are provided for laying out as well. The hammocks provided in the beach house made the experience more authentic. We tried not only laying out in them but sleeping in them too... (Not recommended for those unexperienced with hammocks! haha) But the beds were comfortable. There is no AC in the beach house and it does get pretty hot during the day (nothing a quick dip in the ocean can't fix), but at night it cools down alot and makes sleeping comfortable. The beachhouse had every appliance and convience we needed. There was a coffee maker (a necessity), blender, and purified water. Everything was well maintained and clean. The location is excellent. We felt very safe in the neighborhood it is in. It is close to a few small towns with some great restaurants (Costa Azul in Chuburna had some great seafood and ceviche!). Progresso is a quick 10 minute drive and the supermarket is located there, along with some beachfront shopping and dining. Overall, a fantastic location for a vacation!! I went on a trip with friends, but I feel like this beachhouse could cater to all types of vacations. The house is large enough to accomadate large families, with plenty of space for both sleeping and dining. The beach really can't be beat. We went to Cancun during this trip as well, and while the beach there was extremely blue and pretty, you couldn't even get in because the waves are so high. The beautiful white sand and clear water make this beach and beachhouse absolute paradise!!

I loved the sounds of the gulf waters and the birds, walks along the beach, and just relaxing on the porch. The Yucatan people are so friendly, and the caretaker of this property is very helpful. Trips to see the ruins, and into Progreso and Merida were easy and very enjoyable. The house is beautiful, and restful. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a place to find serenity and quiet, or to a family who wants to enjoy a vacation together.

This beachfront home is a beautifully decorated and the porch is a treasure--perfect for lazy afternoons in the hammock and a wonderful spot for viewing the fantastic sunsets. I have stayed for a month and enjoyed every minute--miles of walking and access the the events in the city of Merida. In addition, there are many Mayan ruins nearby for your sight seeing please, that is, if you can tear yourself away from the beach. The house and it's location are quiet and enchanting!

I stayed here for a week this summer, but my visit came and went far too quickly! It was PARADISE! The beach was gorgeous—quiet and seemingly endless! The water was warm, refreshing, and never too turbulent. The sunsets were one of the most beautiful sights I've ever beheld. And when I thought I had had just about enough of the sun, I enjoyed relaxing indoors, laying in a hammock and reading a good book. (There are beds, for those who aren't keen on the idea of a hammock.) What an amazing vacation! I highly reccommend visiting this home to EVERYONE!
