2 Weeks in Casa de las Tortugas Dave Mc Vancouver, BC, Canada. Date Submitted: March 16, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009 When we're on vacation we want things to flow smoothly, and they did here at Casa de las Tortugas. From initial contact through our two weeks on Cozumel, we felt looked after if we wanted assistance. Very professional and well-organized. Entry to the property was foolproof, important after an excruciatingly long day of travel (watch the timing on bus and ferry schedules if you're flying into Cancun!). The property managers supply a preprogrammed cell phone which makes asking for advice or assistance effortless, and someone was always there to take our calls. The property itself is even better than it looks on the website (and it looks pretty good there!). Over-delivers, with a great layout, nice decor, clean, clean, clean, and a beautiful pool in the back. Lots of filtered drinking water supplied, and ample water for showers, etc. Maid, poolguys and gardeners were efficient and professional. If you want to be in the neighborhoods where locals live and play and eat, this is your place. Downtown San Miguel and the waterfront is an easy walk away, but we found ourselves wandering the calles and avenidas and eating in all the little joints and taco stands we could find, day and night! Once you've eaten your fill, taxis to the beaches are cheap, so we spent a few afternoons at several beaches down south, drinking cervezas. As well we did one day with a rental car to tour around the island. Lots of spots for groceries, with the local market just steps away. Big grocery store ("Mega") was very good for our initial shop, as it has everything you'd ever want, including decent meat and baked goods. We cooked a fair amount, and the kitchen in the house had everything we needed. Hope this review helps someone to make a decision. We travel a lot, and this trip to Cozumel and staying at Tortugas ranks right up there with other great vacations. Thanks Laurie, Jim and Leslie, and we hope to see you again. Adios.

This house was beautiful and very comfortable. It was perfect for our family of six. We also liked the location because it is located in a regular neighborhood and not so close to all of the tourists that fill the streets closer to the waterfront. I would highly recommend this house.

Cozy in Cozumel Fivecents Suwanee, GA. Date Submitted: July 28, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008 This makes our 12th trip to Cozumel staying in rental homes and this one takes first place. Typical in Mexico the beds are not the best quality but here in Casa de las Tortugas the beds are very comfotable with upgraded linens including extra large plush towels. This newly built home was extremely clean, has beautifully chosen tile and paint and was obviously decorated by a professional. Our next trip back in February will be at Casa de las Totrugas. My favorite restaurant of all time is right around the corner - fresh fish at San Carlos.

Owner response:Wow, thanks guys for the glowing review! I am flatered that you thought the home was decorated by a professional! I actually did all the decorating myself! I am so glad you enjoyed your stay and am looking forward to having your family back again. Thanks again, Leslie

Our stay Leslie's house was wonderful! The house is very beautiful, clean and well maintained! The beds were extremely comfortable as well! Our visit was the end of June and it was very hot, but the pool out back was very refreshing! We found the island to be very safe and felt comfortable walking around even late at night. The locals are very friendly. We found some local restaurants that offered some authentic Mexican meals that we enjoyed. We highly recommend renting a car even for just a few days. We loved exploring on our own and finding beautiful beaches to spend time on each day! We loved our visit to Cozumel and would not hesitate to visit one of Leslie's homes again! Thanks Leslie! The house was amazing, clean comfortable, nice big screen tv and a refreshing pool in the backyard. The house was centrally located so getting places was easy. The staff was extremely helpful settling us in and also helped us organize our activities effortlessly. Peter

We just returned from our wonderful vacation to Cozumel and Casa de las Tortugas. We were extremely happy with Leslies beautiful home. The beds were very comfy. We have stayed at Hotels and villas in Mexico and by far the best beds were here. Alex our rep was very nice and accomidating and our maid was great. The house always smelled so good and clean when we would return from our days activities. We had our two children with us ages 5 and 9, and they absoluting loved it here. The pool was a big hit. Very nice and clean just the right size. We cooked in a few nights and we very much enjoyed having the grill there. We always felt safe, a very secure home. Very easy access to everything. We would be very happy to return to this property on our next visit to the beautiful island of Cozumel.

This house was a perfect vacation place for my two adult children and myself. The location is excellent. We walked to restaurants, grocery store and downtown area. The taxi stand was a block away for traveling to the beach for snorkeling. I felt safe walking at night because there are lots of street lights. Everything was easy to get to. Eight blocks down the street and you are at the town square. Local people are friendly. The internet connection at the house amused my kids and they felt connected to friends. That was a big plus. I liked the ipod dock, so I could play my music. We ate lunch at the Super Hit, and my son brought home a great chicken dinner from the ParriPollo. We shopped at the grocery store, and managed to buy food even though we don't read Spanish very well. The exchange rate was very easy. The house couldn't have been better. It was clean and beautiful. Victor was prompt with every detail. He did tell us that it was a very busy tourist time in Cozumel (Christmas), but we had no problem communicating with him by phone. The maid was very good, and since we were out every day, we only met her on the last day. I bought a huge colorful plate for my coffee table, because I loved the Mexican potteryat the house. Staying at the house was so much better than staying at a hotel. It gave us the time and privacy we needed together. We had to solve the problem of eating each day, and that gave us a project that we all enjoyed. Sunday night in the main plaza was so nice. It was so relaxing. My son's comment was that he felt he could have bargained for better deals than what Victor set up for us on the glass bottomed boat snorkel trip and the Chichen Itza tour. But I was satisfied with both tours, although I was disappointed that tourists can no longer climb the pyramid ruins. (A friend told me that was the scariest thing she'd ever done.) We visited Playa del Carmen, Mr. Sancho's and Chakanaab on our own. The ferry was fun. The snorkeling was great~ I had never tried it before, and I was hooked as soon as I tried it. One night, when we were walking around downtown about 11 pm near Senor Frog's, we stopped at an outdoor concert (rock band). Everyone was Mexican, no tourists around. That was pretty cool! The vacation was perfect and I would recommend this house to anyone for safety, ease of travel, convenience and beauty. If you need evening entertainment, though, Cozumel seemed to be a pretty quiet place. Thank you, thank you for a great place and good memories. If I can get a few girlfriends together for a trip, I wouldn't hesitate to come back to this house in Cozumel.
Owner response:Thanks Sue for taking the time to write a review! I really appreciate it. I'm so glad you and your family enjoyed your time on the island, and we look forward to seeing you back one day!

Wow! One word sums up my experience at Leslie's house in Cozumel. I found her place online and after staying at multiple rentals I can say that this was one of the best experiences I've had. Growing up in Hawaii and experiencing tourism first hand, I'd say that this is one of the best places you could rest your head while on vacation. The owner, property manager and maid were all excellent, professional and I'm looking forward to coming back. Also, if you are into diving (which was the basis of our trip) you're in for a real treat. The house rep arranged diving, fishing and shopping for us. It's like having your own built in conceierge desk. I've dove in Hawaii, Australia, Pacific Mexico, Grand Cayman, Belize and I'd say that Cozumel really has a good thing going. I look forward to diving here again. This house was the best value compared to the other rentals I looked at, only a block from taxis which cost about $2 US each way to town, but it's close enough to walk to the beach. Definately stay here...oh and the pool is all yours, not shared and very private...that's all I'll say about that :) You won't be disappointed in this place...it's fantastic!
Owner response:Thanks Jen, I'm glad you guys enjoyed your trip and we look forward to seeing you again! Leslie

Although we don't arrive for 3 days, Leslie the owner and her property management team have been extending their knowledge of the area and are most accommodating and timely in answering all of my questions. And beleive me, I've had plenty. I'll write a full review when I return.
