Ski Gore Mt. or Summer Lakefront Adirondack Great House

Perched on a three acre lakefront knoll and just 19 miles from world class skiing at Gore Mt., Crystal Lake Lodge is the ideal location for winter and summer sports!
Built in the 1920's as the personal residence of the original owner of 1800 acres surrounding pristine Crystal Lake, this gorgeous English-style manor house embodies the feel and charm of the original Adirondack "Great Houses." Graced by warm wood mouldings and paneling in virtually every room, it is situated along the apex of a beautifully landscaped 3 acre knoll from which you can watch the sunrise over the lake from the Great Room's stone terrace and the sunset from the expansive house deck, which affords a nearly 360 degree view of the lake and mountains.
Access to the spring fed (and stocked!) lake is limited to residents (and lucky renters!) and motorized boats are prohibited so only the sounds of the Adirondacks, the birds and children laughing on the lake will intrude on your reverie. The house and the property are replete with many secluded "nooks" for reading, meditating or just napping. Flanked by graceful stone walls, a long winding drive leads first to a boat-sized garage and then up to a circular drive next to the house ensuring ample parking for guests. Stone walkways and stairs meander through the property to secluded garden oases.
This peaceful idyll is nevertheless close by to any number of adrenalin-pumping options -- just steps away from fly fishing or tubing down the Schroon River, tucked between Exit 24 (and a few minutes' drive to jet skiing and restaurants in Bolton Landing) and Exit 25 on the Northway (for groceries and antiques in Chestertown or skiing at Gore Mt.), and a just few exits from shrieking down the water rides at the Great Escape, ziplining among treetops at Adirondack Extreme or serious shopping at the outlet malls in Queensbury. At the end of your adventures, you can return to your own private lodge for hot toddies in front of the huge stone fireplace in the winter or a quick dip in your private lake and canapes on the deck in the summer as the sun sets over the mountains.
The Lodge's private beach front includes a rowboat and canoe and a dock for fishing over which hangs a 32 square foot deck for enjoying the lakefront activities vicariously or snoozing in the hammock.
The Lodge and the 1800 acre Preserve within which it sits are ideally suited to families. The Lodge itself is stocked with games and books for children and adults of all ages and interests, two flat screen wi-fi enabled TV's (one is 55"!), binoculars and birdbooks for serious birders, cooking appliances and equipment to satisfy the most demanding gourmands and a sun porch for children's crafts and play room. The absence of speed boats and jet skis on the lake not only maintains its pristine condition and preserves the quiet, but ensures a safer swimming environment for youngsters. In addition to the Lodge's own private beach, there is an Association beach with roped off swimming areas where other children gather, diving rafts and tennis courts -- all amenities accessible for free to Lodge guests and a short walking distance (the Lodge's own winding driveway being one-third the distance!) on a dirt road used only by residents so virtually untrafficked. (There is a 10 MPH enforced speed limit.)
You don't have to choose between the perfect setting and the perfect house -- you can have both while being Lord of the Manor at "Crystal Lake Lodge."

We were a large group and we went there mainly for skiing. The lodge actually added a lot of highlights to our ski trip. It is the most decent lodge I have seen and lived so far in my experience of searching for lodges for group trips. It is very cozy inside the lodge. The owner has a very good collection of decorations, which make you feel like home when you live there. It's located right next to a beautiful lake. But we didn't have a chance to explore more about the lake because it's winter and we were there mainly for the skiing. It's just 20 minutes of drive from the Gore Mountain Ski Club. Very convenient. The listing description and photos all accurately reflect the rental's appearance and amenities. The owner Beth is so nice and considerate. In a word, it's highly recommended if you are considering a trip to this area.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

Hi Beth – we had just the BEST time during our week at your beautiful home. The home it beautiful, only outdone perhaps by the setting. We all enjoyed the lake either swimming or boating or fishing. The kids just loved it which gave us such happiness. And of course, the adults loved it. My adult kids built a fire at least 3 nights and one night the kids had smores by the fire. there were 11 of us and plenty of room. Just wonderful!! We also went tubing on the Hudson, paddle boat ride on LG and rented a pontoon boat on LG and dragged the kiddies in a tube. Just wasn’t enough time to explore it all and the weather held out for us. Not one rainy day. The loons kept us on our toes. ? You have it all – enjoy it as often as you can. We plan to tell all our family and friends about it and hope to return again.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Our experience at this beautiful Lodge was excellent. We had plenty of room to congregate and at the same time have a little private area to read to good book, which you will find plenty of in the Great Room. The whole area including the Lodge and surrounding yard is meticulously taken care of. The decks were wonderful to sit and have a cup of coffee in the early morning and usually every morning you could hear the Loons out on the lake. The lake is excellent for canoeing and taking the row boat out for some great fishing. You are close to every convenience yet still in a very private area. We used the firepit one night and cooked smores and enjoyed some songs around the campfire. We found a great restaurnat called Cooper's Cave and Ale House in Glens Falls. The menu was varied and the food was wonderful. Afterwards stop at their Ice Cream Stand where there are over 200 flavors. Great way to end an evening. My granddaughter learned how to paddle a canoe with her father and how to fish with her grandfather. Great family memories have been made at this lovely place on Crystal Lake.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

THIS PLACE WAS PERFECT. I just planned my best friend's bachelor party and feel extremely fortunate to have found this lodge. As the seven of us got out of our cars and approached the lodge, the bachelor asked me "Are you sure this is the place?" worried that we were approaching the wrong place and were going to barge into someone's beautiful home. It's that nice! The home is huge, gorgeous, and filled with great amenities. The owner and caretakers couldn't have been kinder. We went just down the street to Adirondack Extreme Adventure course, and 15 minutes in the other direction to check out Lake George. It was a perfect weekend, and a few of us are already planning on coming back with other groups.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.

This property is incredible! It is immaculately well maintained, spacious and warm. The listing and the photos dont do justice as to how great this lodge actually is! Myself and a group of friends stayed here for a weekend in November and have never had such a good time! Their book collection is very extensive and we were surprised at the number of amenities the owners provided. The owners are extremely communicative and have one an excellent job in making this vacation property a place you will want stay over and over again! This property is suitable to every age group.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

The lodge providing us a wonderful place to spend a week with my family . Everyone loved the access to Crystal Lake and the majestic views the lodge layout provided. Everyone mentioned how the lodge was exactly what they pictured it would be, a home away from home that provided a much needed retreat from the bustling downtown Lake George Village. The children couldn’t wait to use the art room as soon as they were done with breakfast every morning, it was wonderful to be able to watch them create and play together through the kitchen window that looks into the sun room. As for me, getting up in the morning to head down to the boat launch and cast a line off the dock for some fish and good conversation with my family was worth every minute. We even managed to take and enjoy a full three-course dinner down on the lower deck overlooking the Lake. It was just perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your beautiful home, thanks so much. Beth, words are hard to find to express how much all of our families (11 adults) enjoy the week-end at your lodge. As you may know it was the Canadian Thanksgiving and the oven had the honor of cooking a nice turkey that was devoured by all on the Saturday night dinner. In fact we enjoyed so much our gettogether that we are contemplating the idea of making it a ritual to meet at your lodge every October for the next years, providing it is available. We can't talk enough of the breathtaking surrounding the lodge is located in as well as the tremendous numbers of various birds' species we could find, as we know you are very aware of. Even if the temperature was on the cool side we still had a ball and tons of memories to share. Again thank you so much for letting people share this great place you have and we will go back.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/2

Splendid house, marvelous ambience, lovely Adirondack setting -- I brought together my New York and California families there for week of July 11-18. The spacious and well appointed bedrooms, well equipped kitchen, the decks, lawns, private beach, the still lake, and especially the Great room where we all gathered in the evenings with much room to spare -- made it our most memorable annual summer vacation of the past five years. Best of the class of the houses I've rented on the Cape, Lake George and the California coast. We'll definitely be back.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We stayed 5/29-5/31 2009 at the house for a weekend. We were celebrating a 30th birthday with friends and family. We had a wonderful weekend. There were tons of activities to do for everyone. We enjoyed fishing, and the relaxing water front deck. The lake views were amazing from every room in the house. Our family and friends loved this place, and it will always be a memorable birthday celebration.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

April 13-15, 2009My husband and I brought our H.S. Senior (son) and a few of his friends to the Adirondack area for a pre-graduation gift and enjoyed three sunny, beautiful days as the boys went fishing, boating, played Frisbee, as well as whitewater rafting on the second day. The lodge was absolutely beautiful and was equipped with everything you could need. We sat on the deck outside the kitchen and watched the “teens” play football in one of the fields as they enjoyed being “boys” before the challenges of college and career choices are made. We used the “sun room” off the kitchen as a “theatre” as we brought a home projector and the boys watched some favorite movies. Both Beth and Kevin were so helpful and worked with us to get this trip together. Our next hope is to return during the Fall to experience the beautiful foliage that surrounds the Lodge and the lake.Mike and Mary, Pittstown, NJDid you find this review helpful?
