Nestled at the end of a cul-de-sac on a quiet, private drive is our inviting 2 bedroom, 2 bath, 2 story home which beckons you to come inside. Finally, you have arrived at MORNING STAR RANCH, where you cannot help but feel relaxed & rejuvenated the minute you step through the front door. Now, where to start and what to do...
SPRING/SUMMER: Of course you've come to see Yosemite Valley, but after a busy day in the valley come home & spend time swimming or napping by your own PRIVATE INDOOR POOL. Hot summers in the Sierras average mid-90's, so stay with us and be COOL!
FALL/WINTER: Come see the beautiful changing fall foliage in & around Yosemite, winters' snow in Yosemite for skiing at Badger Pass, sledding at Goat Meadow Recreation Area, or sleigh rides & ice skating at Tenaya Lodge.
TWO BEDROOMS + TWO BATHROOMS: Morning Star Ranch is comfortably furnished for family fun or a romantic couples get-away. Queen pillow-top bed in the master bedroom (ground floor) & a Queen airbed in the upstairs guest bedroom topped with memory foam pad. The upstairs game room also has a full-sized sofa bed.
ENTERTAINMENT: Besides the 30" HD surround sound TV in the living room, there are TV's in each bedroom. All the electronics you might miss while being away from home are provided: DVD player with surround sound & VCR player plus a computer with wireless DSL internet access. There is a phone for all local calls.
KITCHEN: You will have access to every necessary appliance needed to prepare your meals & snacks. The large Weber propane & charcoal BBQs are conveniently located on the back deck outside the indoor pool. Enjoy your summertime meals al fresco on the comfy teak furniture on the back deck overlooking the Sierra mountains. When you're not in the mood to cook, dine out at any number of excellent area restaurants (from sushi, American, Chinese, Mexican, Italian, BBQ, 5 star European-style dining & more) all located less than 5 minutes from home.
BACKYARD: There is a badminton set, horseshoe pit, & croquet set for you to use when you're done enjoying your indoor PRIVATE POOL (solar heated).
GAMEROOM=YEAR-ROUND FUN: Upstairs in the loft you will find a full-sized POOL TABLE/PING PONG. Listen to music while you enjoy a game of pool, ping pong, chess, darts or backgammon. Of course, you could just sit & relax and enjoy a DVD, CD, video, book or board game & unwind from your days' adventures Some of our previous guests have even canceled additional day-trips back to Yosemite just so they could spend their extra time enjoying all the fun-time activities available at our property!
GROUNDS: Take leisurely walks around our 2-acre property which is scattered about with large granite boulder outcroppings, listen to the babbling creek or whispering cedar, pine & oak trees. Be on the alert for a covey of quail or herd of grazing deer. Spend sun-kissed days & star-lit nights in a quiet locale that is destined to become your home-away-from home.
YOSEMITE~YOSEMITE~YOSEMITE!!! Begin your Yosemite adventure at the Mariposa Grove of giant redwoods located at the south entrance to Yosemite 10 miles away on HWY 41. Or take the 60 mile drive up HWY 49 to the all-weather Scenic HWY 140 which winds along the beautiful Merced River (think summer white water rafting) & into the western Arch Rock entrance to Yosemite. On your way to Yosemite, visit the historic Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railway with its' old-fashioned narrow-gauge steam engines. Take a ride on "The Logger", pan for gold, stay for lunch or dinner & enjoy their entertainment. Horseback riding stables are also close by.
BASS LAKE!!! Bring your fishing pole or boat (or rent one at the local marina) & spend a glorious spring or summer day on pristine Bass Lake 2 miles away, picnicking, swimming, fishing & enjoying water sports--or venture out to any number of nearby lakes.
MORE FUN!!! Take a day-trip up Highway 49 to explore dozens of old gold rush-era towns. Visit the charming & historic town of Mariposa 40 minutes northwest: see a working stamp mill with old mining equipment, historic museums, buildings, carriages & wagons. Chukchansi Gold Casino is only 15 minutes south of us in Coarsegold if you're feeling lucky or want to enjoy a concert.
SHOPPING/DINING: Shop Raley's Supermarket in Oakhurst (2 minutes)--the best stocked food store, deli & bakery in town. You will also find other nearby conveniences such as Vons Grocery Store, CVS & Rite-Aid Drug Stores, Jamba Juice, various fast food & fine-dining restaurants, 6-screen movie theatre, bowling alley, Starbucks & more.

Why the Owner Chose Oakhurst
Our family loves to explore beautiful Yosemite Valley and its' surroundings, but we wanted to be away from the crowds after a busy day visiting there. It is less than an hours' drive to the floor of Yosemite Valley from our home--and a beautiful drive at that!.
You will find that amenities in Yosemite Valley are sparse, but the town of Oakhurst (which is only 2 minutes from our home) has everything you could possibly want--from grocery stores, restaurants, movie theaters, gas stations and much, much more.

After three successful years of running our Morning Star Ranch vacation rental in the nearby town of Ahwahnee, we decided to purchase a different vacation rental--this time in Oakhurst.
While this Oakhurst vacation home offers many of the same fun amenities that the previous rental had, we feel that the Oakhurst home offers our guests a very unique feature that no other rental property near Yosemite Valley can--a private indoor pool.
