Miles of deserted white sand beaches await your discovery. This newly constructed, Mexican-style casita is located in the East Cape region of Baja California Sur, atop a breeze-catching knoll overlooking the rest of the large beachfront property. The beach is only 100 meters from your front door! Walking distance to the only restaurant/bar in the area with live musical entertainment every Saturday night.
Great bird watching in the surrounding desert. Whale watch from your patio or charter a boat with one of the local fishermen. Dive or snorkel right off the beach or drive 17 miles to Cabo Pulmo National Marine Park, site of the only hard coral reef in the Sea of Cortez. There you can dive with huge schools of fish, morbula rays, whale sharks, goliath groupers and hammerhead sharks.
Kite or wind surf launching right out front! Humpback whales pass on their way North as you enjoy a cocktail on the large shaded patio.
Minimize your carbon footprint while you vacation in this solar-powered home! Owners are knowledgeable about local tourism services, natural history and are bilingual. Ask about our catering service, in-room massage and yoga instruction.
Substantial savings for weekly or monthly stays.

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2000
Dawn and Tony moved to the beach on the Sea of Cortez because of their love for the ocean and isolation of their desert retreat. Dawn moved from Canada to work in conservation in Cabo Pulmo National Park and Tony came here from the San Francisco Bay area because of his love of sailing. They met here and together designed and built the guest house.
Why the Owner Chose Las Vinoramas
Tony bought this property because it has one of the most spectacular views of the surrounding area and the Sea of Cortez that he could find AND it's RIGHT ON THE BEACH! The tropical climate and low density development are what drew us to the East Cape of Baja. We wanted to get away from it all and that is exactly what this place allows us to do. There are no other houses visible to the North of our property and our neighbors to the South are only here part-time, so we rarely see a soul. The beach here is incredible...just sand and more sand.
The Unique Benefits of this House
Waking up to the sun rising over the Sea of Cortez is a very special way to start the day. A big plus of where we live is that we are completely independent...we live off the grid, which means that we produce our own power and have water delivered by truck from one of the local ranches. I love that we produce all our energy from the sun!! And still live with all the creature comforts. Amazing!

Sanctuary in Baja

If you are looking for a sanctuary and retreat in Mexico, this is the place to stay. The area is not developed yet, so it is quiet and peaceful and you can have plenty of privacy while walking on the beach and exploring nearby areas. The casita provided outstanding accommodations - felt very Mexican in style and decor, yet had all the touches that one gets when staying at a nice resort - for instance, the bed is EXTREMELY comfortable, as are the sheets and comforter and towels. The appliances were excellent and functional - even XM radio; it was very nice to listen to NPR in the morning while drinking coffee on the patio watching the dogs search for geckos in the desert sand. Speaking of the dogs - to us, vacation is not truly a vacation without our dog, but for being from Seattle and enjoying travel to Mexico regularly, it is unrealistic to include our pooch on trips, so the handful of loving and well behaved dogs that live on site add to the beauty and attraction of this rental. I could write a book about how great this place is, but if I write too much, people will choose not to read any of this - so I'll you with this: I cannot wait to back and stay in the casita, having traveled all over the world, there are few places I would actually visit again, since there are so many other wonderful places to visit. I hope you chose to stay at the casita and I wish you a peaceful stay! Cheers, Lise

I had a wonderful escape at Casa del Amanecer. Everyday began with a hot cup of coffee and the sunrise over the Sea of Cortez and then off for lots of time in the ocean. We really enjoyed the tranquility and peacefulness of the area. The swimming right out front of the property was a real treat. The water was aquamarine in color and as gorgeous as it gets. Dreamy...
Owner response:Thanks so much for your review Steve. It was great to get to surf with you and talk surfboards. Looking forward to trying some of your shapes next time you come over.

Our stay at Casa del Amanecer was absolutely lovely. No issues or challenges! Amazing! We had a blissful time, between meals out on the deck and morning and evening trips out to nearby breaks for perfect and in many cases empty waves! We totally fell in love, and hope we can return sometime soon.

We are not sure we want to post anything – the less people that know about this little gem the better. We would hate to come down and have it not available - but… since Dawn is so nice we will sacrifice the possibility of it being discovered. If you want to be on a beautiful beach, relax in a very comfortable casita, pet super nice dogs, make margaritas, cook amazing enchiladas or chili rellenos (or whatever) – then this is the place for you!! Please don’t come down during June or October – as this is when we want it :)
Owner response:Shall I block off October now? ;-) So glad you both enjoyed your stay and intend to return. You are always welcome at Casa del Amanecer!

We stayed here for a work retreat and the casita is absolutely awesome. Dawn is a great host and the house is a perfect East Cape retreat. The kitchen, patio, bedroom and living room are all excellent, and sitting outside enjoying the sunset and eating dinner on the patio was as peaceful and as good an East Cape experience as you can get. The beach out front is lovely and the water is crystal clear. We are planning lots of returns to this Baja gem!!!

We had such a wonderful time staying at Dawn's magical casita. A five minute walk to the beach and we were catching fish and watching whales and a sea lion interested in what my dad was catching. It was definitely a welcome change from the business of Cabo. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home.

What a tranquil place to be.Very comfortable. So quite & self motavating to explore the beach, the Sea of Cortez. WE were fishing off the shore & had to stop to let a Sea Lion pass by. The people & owners are very informative of the area. This is a place we would go to again.

This is a patch of paradise. If you want to get off the beaten path in a spectacular and relaxed spot then look no further. My fiance and I had a wonderful week here but I have to say it was extremely hot!! The house is perfect for a couple and we loved having sunset drinks on the patio each night. If you surf, there are some great breaks nearby and even if you don't, there are deserted beaches all along this stretch of coast. If you want busy nightlife, this is not for you - if you are after a romantic or just relaxing break from the hustle and bustle - look no further. The house is probably 150 meters from the water but it's an easy walk.

CASA AMANECER IS THE PERFECT PLACE TO GET AWAY FROM THE HUSTLE AND BUSTLE OF DAILY LIFE.GREAT VIEWS FROM THE LARGE PORCH TO WATCH WHALES PASS BY AND MILES OF DESOLATE BEACHES TO WALK AND PLAY ON. THE CASITA IS WELL APPOINTED IN CLASSIC MEXICAN STYLE AND THE KITCHEN IS STOCKED WITH EVERYTHING YOU WOULD NEED TO COOK( BESIDES THE FOOD), WHICH YOU WILL BE DOING ALOT OF HERE.THE OWNERS ARE VERY ACCOMADATING AND FRIENDLY.ALL IN ALL THIS IS A GREAT SPOT TO STAY!!

Casa Amanecer is a truly magical place where you lay down to the sound of the waves crashing below and wake up to the sun rising over the Sea of Cortez. It is a wonderful place to relax and escape to and is a short drive to two great surf breaks. If you are looking for some time living off the grid and don't mind packing in most of your food and necessities then this is the place for you. A beautiful kitchen and a huge patio (bigger than most NYC studio apts) regularly visited by hummingbirds make this place somewhere we will surely visit again!
