Wonderful location, home, and vacation! The home owners Randy and Martha are great. The home was very clean and we had everything we needed for the week. It was everything the listing said it would be. The lake is beautiful and even better when you nap in the hammock. We played, shopped, relaxed, went white water rafting, visited museums, and drove to Ashville throughout the week. We are already planning our next trip back to this home on Lake Wylie! One of the best vacations we have taken ever.

Owner response:Thank you so much for your kind words. The one thing nice about Charlotte is the fact that there is a lot to do in the city and if you decide to visit the mountains, they are only a couple of hour away. It sounds like you visited the Whitewater Center which is a 15 minute ride from the house. It is a great place to white water raft or just watch others do so. I'm glad you had a great time and I certainly look forward to having you come and visit again. My best to your family. Martha

My husband and I stayed at Griff's Place after finding this little gem on VRBO. The house was very clean and had everything you would need (and more) for a comfortable visit. The photos accurately reflect the rental's appearance. The view of the lake and the sun setting in the evening is gorgeous! They had a swing and a hammock on the porch that was very nice for relaxing & enjoying the outdoors. We brought our bass boat and had a great time on the lake, and the bass fishing was awesome! Randy & Martha provided us with buoys after we were concerned about the boat being tied to the dock. They went the extra mile to make sure you had what you needed. I would recommend this house and hope to get to get to visit again in the near future.

This is the second time my family has been to Griff's place. It is a wonderful and relaxing place to stay. Martha and Randy are fantastic hosts. My kids are especially fond of the dogs. Skipper was there the first time we went and my daughter is sure he remembered her! The home is cosy and has everything one could want - it simply is a place you have to try if your ever in Charlotte!
Owner response:Debbie, it is always a pleasure to have you and your family visit. I thank you so much for your kind words. See you in the near future.

This was the perfect place for a girls weekend. Great location to Charlotte Motor Speedway and all things to do in Charlotte. Martha Edwards is a great host and keeps this little place up to par - clean and everything you'd need. Bedrooms are spacious and so is the kitchen and living are and especially the patio area. We also enjoyed the morning greeters (Skipper and Kaite - the two dogs Martha owns). GREAT PLACE for a relaxing weekend get away.!!!
Owner response:Thank you so much for your kind words. I am glad you enjoyed your stay. Yes, Skipper and Katie love to play with my guests. They are great babysitters! They entertain the children for hours and even like to go swimming and dive off of the dock with everyone. Very social dogs. I look forward to seeing you again in the near future.

Every review written about Griff's Place says the same thing. Martha is wonderful (I didn't get to meet Randy), the house is clean and very well-maintained, and it has an incredible view. It is in a great location near Charlotte. It definitely deserves the 5 star rating. What has not been mentioned enough is the neighbor's dog that camps out in the back. Skipper had to be one of the most entertaining dogs I have ever been around. Skipper never barked or growled but wanted to play catch all the time. I do mean all the time, as early as 6 am and as late as 10 pm. Martha- Thanks for a great stay. Hope to see you next year.
Owner response:Thanks Gary/Nancy. I am glad you enjoyed your visit. Like you, my guests enjoy the location of the house. We are very near the city yet you feel as though you are a world away from the city when visiting the house. Yes, Skipper is a definite plus for my guests. He always likes to greet my guests and is quite the entertainer whenever guests are visiting. When my guests correspond with me, the first question is usually about Skipper. I am glad he enhanced your visit. I look forward to seeing you again. Martha Edwards Owner

We had a wonderful stay here in Griffs Place. The house is a two story cottage with 2 bedrooms and bathroom upstairs both having balcony overlooking the lake. The house is immaculately clean and has everything that you would possible need for a very comfortable stay. The hospitality shown by Martha and Randy is second to none and are special people who really care about you and your holiday. Downstairs is a kitchen, dining area and living room and separate toilet. Outside is a patio area with hammock and swing which will then take you down to the dock where the boats are kept. We didnt have long enough time here but i have only been back to the UK for two days and am already thinking about next years holiday to go back and stay there. The location is perfect for Carowinds and USNWC and Wet n Wild is about an hour and a half away. Both Martha and Randy are lovely people and are perfect hosts. Thank you for making our stay so pleasant and for sharing your dogs with us which kept the kids amused for hours and Randy for getting the boats sorted out so they could do some fishing on the lake. I will stress that the pictures of this house do not do it justice and i will add that i would have no hesitation in recommending people to stay here. Well done Martha and Randy 100% perfect house in a perfect location and we're coming back!!
Owner response:Hi Julie, thank you so much for your kind review. I have had a number of guests tell me that they were surprised with the amount of space in the house. The gentleman who built the house utilized all 1200 square feet of the house into livable space with no hallways resulting in larger rooms. My goal is for every guest to enjoy the house and have great memories of their visit. I look forward to seeing you in the future. Martha Edwards Owner

My son goes to a nearby college and I could not find a hotel, so I looked into HomeAway. This cabin was PERFECT!!! I am so happy I found it! Clean, stocked with everything, close to Charlotte yet secluded enough to "get away".It is simple and peaceful... just what I wanted. Martha is a delight and would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it for your stay! I couldn't have asked for a better vacation.

Griff's Place is wonderful and Martha & Randy are just great. The house is exactly as described... so cute with all the conveniences in a quiet setting with a beautiful view. I booked the house as a getaway for a weekend of writing and couldn't have asked for a better spot or more quiet venue. Thanks so much, you two! You were so accommodating and everything was perfect. I look forward to coming back soon!

If your looking for a "PARTY HOUSE"...Please GO somewhere else!! Thank-you Martha for a beautiful home! Her attention to detail makes this cottage a perfect get away for couples, small families, or a girls get away. My mother and I enjoyed all the little details placed around the house. They was nothing we needed besides clothes and food. The photos do not due justice to the little cottage. While the rooms in the photos appear small there is a lot of living space and the beautiful view from each room can not be desribed!! The dock is great for boats. Randy helped me carry my two kayaks down to the dock and getting them on the beach was quite easy. He also helped to get them off the lake via his neighbors property and his pickup so don't let the hill scare you off. The boat launch for bigger boats is not far away. My hope is if you choose this house please take care of it, because I would like to return to this Southern Gem. Thank you Martha, Randy, and (Bo, Katie, Skipper) for a great week-end!

Griff's Place was exactly as you described it! We did feel like we were in another world and we were only 50 miles from home! We normally go to the beach every year around this time, but honestly, this was so much better (and no 4 hour drive-time)! The house was so cozy, and like you said Martha, had everything we could possibly need except for the food! Even though we had just met, sitting on the patio talking with you and Randy felt like we had done it a thousand times. We so appreciated the warmth and graciousness that just radiated from the two of you. The view and the privacy were priceless and I know Mark & I will be back. Have to because we miss Skipper & Katie!! We are telling everyone about Griff's place and again, thank you so much for the hospitality!

Let me first say that I have been using the VRBO site to plan my vacations for at least five years now. I can easily say that Martha and Randy Edwards were the kindest and most accommadating owners that I have had the previlage of meeting, and renting from. It was such a pleasure to meet them and to stay in thier wonderful home. I was in town from KY, and met a friend of mine who lives in Wilmington NC. This was a central location for us to meet, and we spent two days at the National Whitewater Center in Charlotte, which was an incredible place to visit, but that is another story. The home was beautiful, which has been fairly recently remodeled, but they were able to keep the original charm of the home, and you could not possibly find a better view anywhere on lake Wylie. Great place to meet up with my buddy and hang out for the weekend. So much thanks to Martha and Randy for having us in their beautiful home, and I can assure you that you will not find better folks than Martha and Randy. Look forward to seeing you guys, and staying at Griffs again in the near future. Marty Williams

Our family of five (including two daughters away at college) got together here for a long weekend family time! We couldn't have asked for a better location...lose to the airport (our oldest flew in from Ohio) and a short drive for our second from App State. The house was a perfect size for us...we enjoyed the kitchen, meals together...the view...fishing from the dock...great weather...Carowinds...down time just hanging out! The price was very affordable and, Martha, your place was perfect for us! What a joy! We'll come again! Thanks!

This was absolutely one of the best vacations ever. Martha and Randy go to great efforts to make sure your stay is enjoyable. This adorable cottage is well equipped and is very cozy. Everything is clean, clean, clean! Plenty of room to bring your own boat. The kids had a blast tubing as well as swimming off the dock.Still close enough to go out to eat, very convenient location for our family. We certainly will return again and I have recommended "Griff's Place" to several people already. This certainly exceeded all of our expectations. Thank you Martha and Randy for allowing our family a chance to enjoy a few days away from the "busyness" of everyday life! We can't wait to come back!!!!!!!!!!!

This was our second stay with Randy and Martha through VRBO. Griff's Place offered our small Family the perfect Memorial Day get-away! The lake front view was so relaxing. The cabin was immaculate and well stocked. Martha and Randy make sure their Guests feel at home. We easily docked our Pontoon boat and Sea Doo each night. Though the dock is on a main channel of Lake Wylie, the waters were very calm compared to other areas of the Lake. Griff's Place is the perfect location for swimming, skiing or just boating. We definitely will stay again!!

This was our third stay and each has been a memorable experience. The location is perfect for us and the view of the lake couldn't be better. Why stay in a Motel when you can stay at the lake! We celebrated our family Christmas with our Son and Daughter-in-Law who live in nearby Matthews. Martha & Randy are excellent hosts and Martha added a few extra decorations for that Christmas feel. We look forward to our next visit.

After staying at Griffs twice now, I can't imagine staying anywhere else when I come to North Carolina. The lake is so beautiful, we all loved sitting out on the dock just enjoying the mornings. The house is so comfortable and plenty of room to enjoy. Plus playing with the dogs was an added bonus. :) You are always so gracious to us when we visit, thanks so much for offering a great place to rent, and for being so sweet.

If I had to choose one word to describe this place, it would be "Magical". From the moment I arrived, it was as if I was in dream. I was down from NH, planning my big relocation to Charlotte. Having reconnected with my childhood sweetheart (Gary), who lives in Charlotte, this is a dream come true for me... Martha and Randy are the sweetest, kindest, most hospitable people I have ever met. I am honored to know them, and look forward to their continued friendship. Gary and I WILL be back soon, and often, regardless of being Charlotte residents. Everything you could possibly need, is there. Martha & Randy, thank you so very very much for all your help. You are genuinely a gift from God. I really had nothing to do with all that snow! But, I have no complaints. To experience snow in North Carolina was truly amazing for Gary and I. I had the best walk the next morning in the snow. It was so peaceful, coming down that driveway, seeing that magical cabin.... It was difficult to leave. Griff's Place is romantic and magical. Doesn't matter what the weather is outside, it's always perfect there.... Gary and I LOVE it there, and look forward to adding to our memories at Griff's Place.... :) I am looking forward to making North Carolina my home with Gary.

Griff's Place is awesome - so serene, quiet and so well equipped. Martha has done a marvelous job supplying all one's needs in the kitchen and outside - from pots and pans to citrenella candles. Our 10 day stay was so relaxing and we never wanted to leave. The cabin is so cozy and well-furnished, but the outside patio is where spent our time watching the boats, the blue herons and the beautiful sunsets. It's a bargain and the landlords are attentive to every need.

Comment Text: Feb 13t - 17th..This was our second trip to this tranquill "home away from home".. and it was even better then the first. It was Valentine's weekend which made it even more special and romantic. We loved that it was cold enough to burn the fireplace each night. It just made it that much cozier! It was warm enough in the day to enjoy the weather outside and take a walk and to even enjoy the swing for 2 on the patio overlooking the lake. We will be a "repeat" guest for as long as the owners will keep sharing this immaculate, wonderful, quiet, tranquil (and yes, romantic) cabin with us. Thank you Martha and Randy!

Let us start by saying the owners could not be nicer people! What a great accomodating couple they are! You literally only need clothes and some food. Everything else is there for you to enjoy! We went to this cabin in October and it was absolutely beautiful! Sitting out on the patio swing looking at the view of the lake was awesome..especailly with the leaves changing color. It was so quiet and peaceful we even fell asleep in the hammock made for two! It is seclueded yet if you feel like shopping, its just minutes away. Loved it so much we're going back in February! What a great way to spend Valentines Day with your most loved one!
