A place to kick back and just relax

Guest: Andrea (Mentor, Ohio)
Date of Stay: 04/12/12 Review Submitted: 04/30/12

When we arrived at the condo it was even better than anticipated. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and condo bigger than pictures show and very clean. The kitchen fully equipped for any type of cooking but with the Palms just a five minute walk away who wants to cook. We enjoyed sitting on the porch in the mornings with our coffee watching the beautiful blue Caribbean Sea. Also, the pool was great just perfect for a relaxing day. To really appreciate the island you should rent a car there is so much to see. Sorry we didn't get to Buck Island for snorkeling ran out of time. If you really enjoy Mexican food you must try The Pirates Tavern located in the Marina at Salt River. We also ate at Rum Runners and had the best hamburger at The Brew Pub all on the boardwalk at Christiansted. For a good surf and turf on Friday nights the Palms is the place to go everyone is so friendly and the drinks are great. We would definitely plan another trip to visit the island again and stay at Caribbean Sea Escape on the Beach and this is from a person who loves to cruise the islands on a big ship. Terry, the owner, was a great help to us my husband forgot his laptop on the dinning room table and with a call to Terry we were able to retrieve it and have it mailed back to us. Thanks again Terry for being so understanding. If you are looking for a place to go that is really laid back and everyone is on Island time St. Croix and Sea Escape is the place to go would recommend it to anyone have already told some of my friends.

Owner response:I'm really glad you had a fabulous vacation and look forward to having you back again! Thanks SO MUCH for sharing the highlights with others who may follow!

Nice condo, convenient to Christensted

We had a great week at this Condo. It was clean and well furnished. The internet connection went down midway through our vacation and Terry was very responsive in getting someone to come out to fix it. I-phone and mac couldn't pick up the internet signal for some reason but pc worked OK. It is a bit of a walk to the main swimming beach at the Palms but you can hop in your car and be there in a couple of minutes. Snorkeling was actually really good at the Palms - better than Cane Bay and some of the other spots we tried on the island. Buck Island sail was well worth it - nice sail and best reef environment. We had good dinners at Savant, the Pickled Greek, and Dashi Sushi. We loved the pool and hot tub in the afternoons - very close to the condo and never very busy. I would recommend getting a rental car as you will need it to see sites on the island and to get into Christensted. Overall a great week and the condo is a great deal for the $$.

Owner response:I enjoyed having you there and look forward to your return... Glad you had a relaxing time and slept well!

Sea Escape helps you escape from it all

Guest: Gunny (Connecticut)
Date of Stay: 03/18/12 Review Submitted: 03/29/12

We had a great time down in St Croix. Sea Escape is a lovely home with every amenity. The very comfortable king size bed was an added plus and there was a second bedroom (which we did not use) that also had one. So couples traveling together don't have to sacrifice.. The decor was relaxing and comfortableI and the large terrace was perfect for meals and relaxing out of the sun. Never needed to use the air conditioner. The breeze was delightful and listening to the waves at night was a great way to fall asleep. The beach was deserted most days. You do have to walk a few minutes down the beach to get past the iron shore to swim, but it's a lovely walk. We’re not pool people, so we just stopped by to see it....nice size and plenty of lounges. Went to a number of the restaurants and none of them disappointed....Rum Runners, Angry Nates. The restaurant at the Palms (right down the beach) was excellent, but service can be really slow. Try the fried pickles. We drove everywhere, did the Buck Island thing with Lewellyn and snorkeled off a bunch of beaches. Lots of fish, but the coral is in bad shape (like everywhere in the Carribean). The scenery changes dramatically from one end of the island to the other, from desert to rain forest and any showers are brief and fast moving. Sea Escape and St Croix make for a great vacation. Ginny and Mike

Spent Four weeks at Condo in February 2012 and Three weeks in 2011. Like the pool the best. Good size to swim lads. Nice grounds, easy walk to hotel next door, Ok food, Ok bar. Close to Christastad, some very good resturants. Beach pleasent, not useful for swiming due to reefs.

My wife and I enjoyed our time here - beautiful condo, quiet and peaceful development, but 10 minutes from town and centrally located on the island. Lovely beach, nice pool, plenty of space for relaxation. House is positioned perfectly for breezes - we never used the A/C even though temps reached the mid-80s during the day. Found half a dozen great restaurants to enjoy. Perfect vacation.

Owner response:so glad you enjoyed your stay with us and the beautiful Island of St. Croix... hope to have you back soon!

Perfect vacation.

Date of Stay: 01/01/12 Review Submitted: 02/05/12

This vacation ranks up there with one of the best vacations. The condo was in a perfect location, very clean, well maintained, stocked with everything you need and a close walk to the beach and restaurant. St Croix is quiet, clean and the people were very friendly. All the beaches were awsome and never crowded. We liked the fact that you can go to any resort and use their beaches without any issue. I wouild highly recommend renting a jeep if you plan on exploring some of the less travelled highways. Here are some must do things. Travel to Bucks Island with Capt Big Beard and snorkle around. Snorkling at Caine beach where you can rent snorkling and dive equipment. Travel to the west and go to Sandy Neck which is open only on weekends. Have cocktails at the Renaissance Resort at Davis/Carambola beach. I would also recommend that you freeze and pack your own meats because they are expensive and pretty poor quality at the markets. I know many people that do this without any problems. The styrofoam coolers that Omaha Steaks ship their products in are perfect for this and a cooler is very handy for the beach.. Don't bother bringing you own liquor because it's almost half the price there. We plan on doing this again next year at the same but with some friends. Finally, the pool was great and also the food and enterainment next door.

Owner response:Glad you enjoyed your stay and thanks for sharing your experiences... looking forward to having you back next year!

Christmas in Pelican Cove

Guest: Anja (Copenhagen/Denmark)
Date of Stay: 12/16/11 Review Submitted: 02/20/12

My husband and I, our two boys age 5 and 7 and my mom stayed at Pelican Cove for two weeks and spend a wonderfull Christmas there. The condo was equiped with everything we could think of, it was clean and spacy and furnished perfectly. The photos on the web-site reflect the reality. Looking at the waves and the palmtrees from the balcony and feeling the breece from the ocean made us feel like in Paradise! There was never any need for A/C. The big freshwater pool was on the top 2-list of the whole stay for our 2 boys (Christmas eve was nr.1!), and we enjoyed the many friendly people of different nationalities we met there. Terry is a very good and serious host. All aggrements made with him, also during our stay, was met, and every little questions from us was taken very seriously. All our expectations was more than fullfilled, and we will recommend the place to anyone who wants to spend a holiday on St. Croix. Anja R.Melbye / Denmark

Owner response:I was nice talking and working with you Anja. Hope you guys can get away from the cold in Denmark again next year!

Just like home, convenient, secure and great owners!

This is a great home base if you're visiting St. Croix. The condo is plenty big enough for two couples or a family. The condo is on the ground floor and is very convenient (just a few stairs). It has a partial ocean view out on the terrace and large windows which is enough to give you a nice cross-breeze. We didn't need to run the a/c much at all even though we were there in August. We had one little maintenance issue, but Terry had a repairman out there on the next business day. Just about everything you could want is in the condo and it is located next to a terrific snorkeling beach in front of The Palms Hotel. The condo's pool is also a great place to relax and it's a short walk to the Palms Hotel for a superb dinner (try the Mahi w/mango sauce, but don't go to the Wed. night buffet, BBQ chicken/macorroni at a high price, must be the chef's night off). We can also recommend another nearby restaurant: Salud is halfway to Christensen and is a Mediterranean menu with great atmosphere. We found many of restaurants in the area served great food. Note, for buying groceries, the best prices are inland, Pueblo is double the price on many items. We recommend renting a 4WD for the island as the roads are very inconsistent and rough in some places. Had a great time touring all around the island to spectacular views at Point Udall and forging creeks and viewing small waterfalls in the rainforest. Christiansted's fort was worth seeing, but the shopping is slim, the town is half empty due to tough economic times. St. Croix is a great place to relax, read and soak up the sun. The best ocean swimming is off the west end of the island where there is very calm surf. Or, if you want activities, Paul and Jill's has great horseback riding through the rainforest, and snorkeling and scuba is all around the island. Enjoyed a delicious lunch at Bernie's Cafe on the beach near Fredericksted Hwy 63 and 58 and this is also a great place to swim in calm clear blue water. We didn't feel the need to go to Buck Island as there was so much good reef right on St. Croix. We had a great time with all the various things to do on the island, we plan to go back.

Owner response:Glad you had a great time and that we were able to take of your little "problems" I enjoyed our conversations and look forward to having you back next year!

My family and I just returned to reality after staying 7 wonderful days in Sea Escape Paradise. This condo is everything it says and more! My entire family felt very comfortable and at home in this home away from home. The owner, Terry, is very easy to work with and very knowledgeable about St. Croix. The condo was very well maintained and probably the cleanest condo we have ever rented - you can tell the owners take pride in their home! Pelican Cove is a wonderful condo complex as well and right on the beach and very close to a couple of restaurants that you can walk down the beach to. When you are in St. Croix I also highly recommend "Off the Wall". It is on Northshore very close to Cane Bay - they have wonderful pizza and cocktails and the staff is so freindly. My family and I will definelty return to St. Croix and we will definetly stay at Sea Escape again if it is available! Thank you for allowing my family and I the opportunity to enjoy your home! Heather and Family

Our stay at this rental was one of our best vacations ever! The kitchen was one of the best equipped I've ever been in and the beds - oh my gosh - the mattresses are better than our ones at home! This rental is one of the cleanest we've ever visited! The pool was awesome and the restaurant onsite has fantastic food with lots of choices if you don't want to cook. The island is unique, hidden and affordable paradise, we enjoyed sightseeing, walking around the boardwalk in the old part of town and scuba diving! Don't forget to attend the crab races for great prizes you might win some coupons to use on your vacation! We will definitely be back to share a little bit of their heaven again - hats off to the owners!

Owner response:come and see us again soon... I will let the Palms restaurant know how much you enjoyed the great food and the short walk down the beach to get there!

Caribbean Vacation

Guest: Janet (Columbus, Ohio)
Date of Stay: 06/04/11 Review Submitted: 07/08/11

This condo was fantastic! Plenty of room for my family of five. Loved sitting on the patio watching the wild life. The pool and hot tub were marvelous. We were out there every night, even in the rain. (I'm sure people thought we were crazy!) The only down side was when we parked on the lower side of the parking lot. There was a tremendous storm one night and when we went to go site seeing the following morning, there was over 2 inches of water in the foot wells of the car. Made for a smelly car the rest of the week. Loved Big Beards snorkeling trip to Buck Island. Really enjoyed all of the open aired restaurants over looking the water. What a beautiful island, can't wait to go back!

Owner response:I appreciate you letting me know about the rain and the parking! I will try and pass that along to my visitors in the future.... the rain can be quite something there when it rains.... Glad your family had a good time and your found our place "fantastic" for your family Janet. Come and see us again... we were glad to have you!

This condo was absolutely beautiful. We had such a great time on St. Croix. What a beautiful laid back island. We enjoyed driving on the left mon, and just pulling over when the desire striked us! Coming back to our "island home" was so peaceful and relaxing after a long adventure out and about in the warm Caribbean sun. The condo was 1st class and meticulously maintained. The pool is HUGE and very refreshing. When we weren't running around the island we enjoyed relaxing at the condo and lounging in the pool which was only a few steps from the condo!! Great location, great condo, would highly recommend to anyone looking for either a relaxing vacation or fun packed island adventure...or both! Thank you Terry, we will be back.

Owner response:I really enjoyed having you stay at Sea Escape and am so happy you got a taste of what our little Island has to offer! Looking forward to your return!

We returned 3 weeks ago from our wonderful vacation in St Croix. We enjoyed staying at Sea Escape & would highly recommend this property. The condo is spacious, comfortable & very well equipped/stocked. You can't beat the value-having your own private condo vs a hotel room! The setting ar Pelican Cove is great- lots of families and friendly people both staying & living there-our 6 year old had a BLAST! Terry, the owner of this property, went above & beyond our expectations when we had to reschedule our original trip due to a medical emergency. This type of treatment and the great accommodations will keep us coming back!

Owner response:I'm so glad you finally were able to get there and that everyone had a good time and look forward to having you back again Carol.

What a great place to get away from winter! We enjoyed our stay here very much. It was like a little home away from home. Although we enjoyed most of our meals at restaurants (Rowdy Joe's and Salud were our favorites), it was nice to have a full kitchen. One evening we stayed in and cooked a mahi mahi dinner from fresh fish bought at the local market and enjoyed it on the balcony. Plus, it was great to be so central to everything and still stay right on the beach. Walking out to a sandy beach and blue ocean every morning beats Lake Ontario snow any day. I highly recommend staying at Sea Escape if you're planning a trip to St. Croix.

Owner response:Glad you had a great time and for being such good guests! I hope you will come back again soon!

Dinner with Terry

Guest: Andrew P. (Mount Prospect, Illinois)
Date of Stay: 03/17/11 Review Submitted: 04/17/11

We truly enjoyed our stay at Pelican Cove. The condo lived up to and beyond our expectations. It was extremely clean and very spacious for our family of four. Our daughters loved walking the beach, collecting sea glass and swimming in the fabulous pool. It was a great location to explore the beauty of St. Croix. Terry, the owner, was great to deal with and very accommodating. As we were getting ready to head back home to Chicago, we learned our connecting flight to Miami was canceled due to the fuel fire. We thought we were in for a horrible experience. Not to be - Terry made our last night in St. Croix so enjoyable. He was arriving the day we were leaving and had his own issues with his travels and American Airlines. We had dinner together that evening and he accommodated us at no extra charge. It was beyond our expectations!! We’ll be back!

Owner response:Yes, it was quite a fiasco with American and the Miami fire! Thanks for the great dinner and company... and my great neighbors who allowed me the use of their condo for the night! I am looking forward to your family coming back!

Super Clean and Comfortable

Guest: no name (NYC)
Date of Stay: 01/29/11 Review Submitted: 02/28/11

This spotlessly clean apartment had all we needed to enjoy our stay on St Croix. The location was perfect, close to Christianstad and shopping. The pool was as described big, clean and just the right temperature! It is a very short distance from the apartment. The Palms Hotel and Restaurant are on the grounds and a short walk away. The food is quite good and reasonably priced, but be prepared for "island time" service. We found the folks at Pelican Cove to be friendly and full of good advice. The beach is very rocky and there is no real access to the water due to the coral and rocks. It is easier to swim if you enter in front of the hotel. The apartment is a little dark and there is no real view of the ocean from the apartment. You can see some of it from the porch.

Owner response:Glad you had a good time and hope you will be coming back again.

Vacation Condo

Guest: Julie S. (Luxembourg)
Date of Stay: 12/26/10 Review Submitted: 01/13/11

This condo provided almost everything you need for a good vacation condo, our guests appreciated the TV meaning no football games were missed. It was nice and clean on arrival with all the basics, such as soap and paper-goods and the space was more than adequate for four adults. Although the sea can only be glimpsed from the balcony it is still a very pleasant place to sit and with the high winds we experienced the first week ( Christmas winds) it was just as well that we were not right on the beach. With a car the location was good and you can easy access the whole island. The restaurant just up the beach was very convenient, we enjoyed a lovely romantic meal on our last evening overlooking Pelican bay, while the BBQ at the Cabana was useful for grilling and meant that you did not smoke everyone out at the condos. Salude just up the road had excellent food and service. If you want to enjoy a good long beach walk Manchenil bay can provide this, while Cane Bay makes snorkeling very easy. The swimming pool means that you can enjoy a swim, despite the pebbly beach. Terry provided lots of useful info before our visit, which was also greatly appreciated, he also was very prompt to answer any question, no matter how trivial. All in all I would say that this condo is just as it looks in the photos and provides what it promises.

Owner response:Thanks for the kind words for our property and the great advice for those who will be following you!

Nice condo

Guest: Bradengal (Sarasota FL)
Date of Stay: 12/11/10 Review Submitted: 12/21/10

Pelican Cove is a well located condo community with a fabulous pool (unheated) but the beach was disappointing (takes a serious cardio workout to walk it, and it isnt long!) and the surf was too heavy to try snorkelling which was supposed to be good right in front. A car is needed, or take taxis. The next door small hotel The Palms has a great bar & restaurant. The condo was described as ocean facing but is not as close to the beach as I expected and the view was a bit obscured, but we did enjoy that balcony. No barbecue as promised. The condo was quite clean and very spacious with good cross ventilation from windows & doors. It is well equipped with all the kitchen "small stuff" (soaps, condiments, tea etc.) & there were lots of towels & sheets. Only a few things lacking (salad bowl & servers, serving dishes, tray, kettle, a good fry pan for fried eggs.) But all in all it is comfortable, attractive, and a good "home away from home." Neighbors were even friendly. And Terry is a very responsive owner. The info. provided was a real help.

Owner response:Glad you liked the condo, the property, my neighbors, and the pool! The rains that were so prevalent last month have had an effect on both the view of the ocean with the overgrowth of vegetation and the surf along the beach. Also, the balcony is the front of the property and glad you enjoyed the ocean view while relaxing there. I will not be replacing the barbecue since we now have two barbecues at the pool veranda and the HOA is discouraging them due to the "problems" presented by some other guests who had stayed in other units.... Thanks for letting me know about salad bowl & servers, serving dishes, tray, kettle, and fry pan. We will get them added or replaced in January. Over all it sounds like you had a great trip and the condo met our housing expectations which is my goal as the owner of the property

St. Croix and the Sea Escape condo were one of the best vacations that I have been on. The island offers the feel of a island getaway with all of the amenities needed. The condo was very clean and comfortable and was able to easily fit four people with two king sized beds and two full bathrooms. There was also the option of an air mattress if we needed it. The kitchen was fully stocked with utensils and everything needed to be able to enjoy a night at home. Enjoying coffee from the back patio with an amazing ocean view was a great way to get each day started! The beach was a one minute walk away so a daily walk on the beach was also a highlight! The pool, with a beautiful waterfall, was relaxing and not too crowded with plenty of new lounge chairs. The property was clean and felt safe and well secured. The owner of the Sea Escape was easy to work with and concerned that we had everything that we needed. I would reccommend this Sea Escape to anyone looking for a great vacation. I look forward to me next escape to St. Croix and this condo!

Also met some wonderful folks as well. I would not stay anywhere else in St. Croix. Best time was having coffee on the patio each morning listening to the ocean. Thanks so much for sharing!

This condo was a really great place to stay on our diving vacation to St Croix. It is very spacious and really comfortable. The grounds were really nice and kept up. The pool area was nice and the people we met were great. I would recommend this to anybody who wanted a great place to stay. Whitney was great to deal with and answered all my questions and gave us a lot of info to use while we were there. I will be going back and if it is available I will use it again. It is real close to Christiansted and very easy to get to Cane Bay Dive Shop where we did our diving. My dive partners were real happy with the condo and will use it also, Garry

We had a wonderful stay at Seascape. The condo is well appointed and faces on to open space and the ocean. The location is convenient to town and shopping. Within just a short walk from the condo along the beach are two really nice restaurants that we enjoyed. The bay in front of the restaurants has wonderful snorkeling and we would do this every morning before breakfast. There was always a great variety of fish and something new to see each day. They have a great pool that we would have used more if the beach had not been so beautiful and enticing. Just happy memories or our stay and would love to go back again.

My husband and I stayed here for 9 days and didn't want to go home! The view on this photo is what you see from the little porch outside the master bedroom where we ate most of the time! If you are a birder bring your binoculars..we counted seven different kinds from the porch! Everyone was so friendly...one of the grounds crew cut me fresh coconuts every day and several neighbors invited us for drinks! Condo was light, clean and very spacious. We thought it was plenty big enough to bring kids and spouses along, and would be fun to have two couples. Walked on the beach half a mile in each direction every day...mostly beautiful white sand with a few rocky patches...usually had a little blue heron for company! We took over 300 photos on this trip...everywhere you look there's a photo opportunity! Would recommend visiting the nature conservancy and botanic gardens...and we had great food everywhere we went...even the road stands were wonderful. If you're going on the catamaran snorkeling tour go early in your trip...you get half off on your second trip and you'll want to go again! We will definitely go back!

What a perfect place to get-away from the hustle and bustle of the mainland US. The island of St. Croix and the Sea Escape condo provided the needed break! We were pleased with our surroundings and pleasantly surprised that most of the amenities we wanted were within walking distance. The beach is a minute away and we enjoyed spending the mornings strolling down to the Palm restaurant. It sits right on the beach and provides a wonderful atmosphere with the ocean waves breaking in the background as you enjoy your breakfast. The condo is very comfortable and we enjoyed dinners with our friends and felt like there was room for everyone! The owners are great people who were genuinely concerned that we enyoyed our stay and had everything we needed. I really appreciated the fact that it has wireless internet since I did want to keep in touch via e-mail with my family while I was there. In conclusion, I just can't say enough about the Sea Escape, the owners, and the fascinating and inviting island of St. Croix! You MUST make it your next vacation destination!

Owner response:Thanks so much for the review... and more importantly I'm really glad you enjoyed yourself. The Island and the people do tend to have that affect on a lot of our visitors

I really loved my stay at this property when I was there for my honeymoon. The condo is very clean and nicely furnished. I love the location right on the beach and close to all the great sites like the wall and Christiansted. This property is also very well situated to several great restaurants and bars, so you don't have to drive to dinner if you do not want to. I would definitely visit this condo and location again!! Loved it!

Owner response:Thanks Katie, I'm glad you and Gordan had a nice and relaxing honeymoon. Come on back anytime!

The condo was very clean and well appointed. The grounds, pool area, and beach were clean and very well kept. The view is as good as any on the island. This condo is located very conveniently to island ammenities. The folks who own / manage the property are unbelievably responsive and genuinely care about your experience. I will plan my visits around the availability of this unit.

My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary in St. Croix staying at the Sea Escape condo owned and managed by Terry and his wife Diana. The condo was clean, light and had a very nice open feeling. It was well appointed with all of the creature comforts of home. It appeared most of the furnishings were new or close to it. The condo was extremely clean and the grounds around the condo were very well maintained. Terry has a good knowledge of the island, which he is very willing to share with you. He knows what to do, what to see and especially for me where to eat just to name a few. What I remember the most is the quiet and peacefulness of the area. A perfect getaway for sure.

Owner response:Happy Anniversary and glad you had a great time. We enjoyed having you!

My wife and I stayed at the condo during our honeymoon. It was a wonderful location for exploring the island! Everything was neat, clean, and functional. We had all of the comforts of home at our disposal. The grounds were lovely; everything was prim and proper. The view of the beach, with puffy clouds floating by and pelicans floating in the breeze, was a perfect backdrop while relaxing on the seaside porch. The condo was situated so close to Christiansted that trips to town were easy, while far enough away to avoid the hustle and bustle of the town. We can't wait to get back to St. Croix for another visit. Terry's upkeep of this condo was meticulous. Thanks!
