Apopka is located just 12 miles northwest of Orlando, a peaceful town that encompasses just over 30 square miles. Nearby Lake Apopka is a popular fishing lake in the area and is connected by waterways with an extensive central Florida Lake system. Apopka Lake is nearly circular in size and lies on the line between Orange and Lake Counties. Just northeast of Apopka is Wekiwa Springs State Park, approximately 7,000 acres of wild scenic park that offers visitors a chance to see what central Florida looked like when the Timucuan Indians lived here.
