We call our wonderful vacation home, "Serenity", because all your stress and worries will disappear when you're here!
This beautifully renovated, 120 year-old former mill sits just feet away from a lovely brook on a 7-acre, heavily wooded lot just off of Route 4 in Litchfield county, CT. In the summer, open the windows and you can hear the water flowing by from every room in the house. You'll love falling asleep to the sound!
There's lots of room to explore on the property. Splash around in the brook, watch for trout, or just sit and gaze at the waterfall. We're very close to the Audubon preserve, so you never know what rare birds you might see (there's a Blue Heron that loves to stalk the brook trout right next to the house). Like looking at nature but don't want to be out in it? You'll love the screened in patio with large sliding glass doors on three sides.
Feel like relaxing with a good movie? You'll enjoy the flat-screen TV and 24 hr. On-Demand movies through Comcast. Classic movie buffs will enjoy our Alfred Hitchcock movie library. Alfred Hitchcock was a good friend of a previous owner and often vacationed at the house! Of course, you'll never find a better spot for curling up with a good book.
Check out all the dining, shopping, and other activities available in beautiful Litchfield County, then come home and relax with a bubble bath in the huge clawfoot tub.
There's a fully-stocked kitchen with everything you need for whipping up a great meal and a nice big gas grill for those summer cookouts.
In the winter months, you'll love being surrounded by a wintry wonderland as you are warmed by the cozy fireplace. Winter sports fans will enjoy the nearby Mohawk Ski Resort.
*note: There is also a four-room caretaker's cottage on the property (opposite the garage, cannot be seen from main house) that is also available for rent. Contact us for more details.
We know once you've experienced "Serenity", you'll never want to leave!

We spent the weekend at Serenity, and two nights felt like four...in a good way. It is hard to believe such a story-book setting exists only an hour and a half from Manhattan. The house is cozy and clean, and the gas-burning fireplace offers the perfect backdrop to a peaceful winter evening. The brook on property is beautiful, and the sound of rushing water lulled us right to sleep. The only suggestion we'd offer would be blinds or shades on the windows to block sunlight in the mornings. We enjoyed visits to Litchfield and Kent, charming little towns with loads of character and tasty food. We'll definitely be back!

We just returned from a wonderful long weekend at this Sharon, CT cottage. What a peaceful way to spend a fall weekend. The house is adorable and in a very beautiful spot that feels secluded but is very well situated to all the pretty villages of Litchfield County. We'd highly recommend this home for a get-away from it all.

We rented this house for a 3 night stay and were very pleased. The owners of this property were very professional, and all things were in order for our arrival. The house was super clean, nicely decorated, and very cozy. The house has all that you need, just stop and get some groceries in Kent and you are set. The area around the house is well maintained, and the neighbor who lives in the apt in the front of the property is very nice and was helpful with showing us where to put our recycle cans and trash. There is a dog Bailey who will greet you on your arrival, no worries she is sweet , she lives in the front apt. We enjoyed mornings on the swing in the front, drinking our morning coffee, and evenings in the screened in porch. I would for sure rent here again, the only downside was the waterfall and water hole were all dried up, I guess there was not much rain in the month before. It is a beautiful place, and you will for sure love being there:)

My family lives in Sharon and we had an overflow of guest for a recent family get together. Most hotels in the area are either local motels or very pricey Inns. We found this property and had a great time staying at this adorable little house. Everything was clean, there were plenty of towels and the bathroom is brand new and beautiful. The screened porch was great to stay outside without the mosquitos and we used the gas fireplace another chilly night ... It was a great alternative. As for the area, they're right down the road from a great farm that does berry picking in spring/summer and corn/pumkins in the fall ... you can also get great cider made on premises and fresh pies. Sharon is a lovely area and this house was a great place to stay. My only regret is that it wasn't warm enough to go swimming in the little river. Thanks for a great stay!
