Serenity of Soundfront But Close to the Ocean
- Minimum stay:N/A

- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
The house is 1,650 square feet and sits one one wooded acre. The house has the popular "reverse" floor plan (living area upstairs with bedroom areas downstairs). The house sits on a cove of the Albarmarle Sound.
There is a 110 foot private walkway from the house to a dock with a gazebo. The house and gazebo face south-west offering beautiful sunsets. A porch off the kitchen faces the woods and offers a quiet serenity not often found at the beach. The beach (Atlantic Ocean) is less than a mile away and there is a bicycle path that runs in front of the "Sound Crab", by the Wright Memorial ending at the major ocean access point in Kill Devil Hills.
The house is tastefully decorated. There is an extraordinary amount of glass to take advantage of the sound and woods views. The kitchen is well equipped and contains all modern appliances. The house is far enough off the road (that dead ends less than 100 feet in a cul-de-sac) that traffic is rarely heard.
The house is wired for the internet.
There is a virtual tour available with the "Sound Crab"s sister house the "Beach Crab"(also on VRBO (#142260)). The virtual tour and a more extensive write-up (and directions) can be found at the attached web address.

We really enjoyed our week here, and will definitely keep your house in mind for the future. The family said this would be a nice house to rent again. Clean, comfortable, our family of four plus Grandparents loved it! Some of the things we particularly liked about the Sound Crab: the upstairs living area was great, plenty of room for our extended family to spread out and enjoy each other, the views, and whatever else we each needed to do (we had a lot of laptops...). Clean windows!...mentioned several times, previous beach rentals often had dirty windows, your house sparkled, a real pleasure that first morning to come upstairs and see the light streaming in, and to look out at the great sound views through clean windows. Even though it was cool, we enjoyed all the decking and screen porches, the afternoons were nice enough to sit out on the rockers in the sun. We brought our kayaks, and were able to launch from the dock with no problems, and the area was very nice for kayaking. Great location, central to everything, easy in and out from Landing drive, we hiked at Nags Head Woods, visited the Wright Brothers Memorial, several walks on the beach, enjoyed dinner out at Hurricane Mo's (and several home cooked diners as well), all in all a great week!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Can't beat this spot! Great location that provides entertainment and unbeatable views. I loved sitting on the deck every evening watching the sunsets! This provided the perfect spot for our engagements :) The private dock and gazebo are perfect for relaxing, watching the fish, fishing or crabbing. Just don't forget your fishing gear! There's a really nice bike path just off the private driveway. You can ride (or walk) to the Wright's Brothers Memorial. Really convenient location to visit any nearby restaurants and attractions too!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
