Designed by an artist, Mountain View is a custom built home, on two acres of meadows and trees, with cathedral ceilings and expanses of glass to capture the wonder and beauty of Mt. Washington and the surrounding White Mountains.
Guests can see these mountains from the great room with a gas fireplace, the dining area for as many as 8 guests, and the galley kitchen with breakfast bar that seats 3. Sliding glass doors open off the great room to a deck that is perfect for long, memorable sunsets over the western mountains of the Presidential Range. The home also offers a private study with stereo and a queen sofabed on the same level.
The great room features exciting and colorful original art, done by the same artist that designed the home. Enjoy this comfortable setting for reading, napping and watching movies on the cable TV or VCR.
On the top level is the master bedroom with large expanses of glass for viewing the same magnificent views. On a clear night, the Milky Way is visible and many stars seem very close to this romantic bedroom. The lights of the town of Jackson are below. The bedroom has a queen-size bed, television, dressing room, en-suite bath with tub-shower combination and separate vanity and toilet areas.
The lowest level provides two more bedrooms. The first has a queen-size bed, television, DVD-VCR, a shared hall bath with tub-shower combination and separate vanity and toilet areas. The second bedroom is a bunkroom that can sleep up to five. It has four bunks, and the bottom two bunks double as sofas. There are also two twin beds that can be converted to a king bed, if desired. Perfect for any combination of guests.
All bedrooms are air conditioned, as is the whole house, for maximum comfort throughout the year.
Occupancy is appropriate for 1 to 11 guests.

- Queen Bed (2) : Queen beds in master bedroom and one of the downstairs bedrooms.
- Twin/Single Bed (2) : These beds are in the same bedroom as the bunkroom. They can be put together with mattresses sideways to make a king. The appropriate mattress pads to fill in the crack between the two mattresses is available. If you let us know ahead, the housekeeper will make up the beds as a king.
- Bunk Bed (2) : The lower unit of one of these beds can be used as a double. The other lower bunk cannot be extended and is set up as a sofa, although a small child could sleep there comfortably.

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
We are two of the owners of this home, and we are children, a spouse and a niece of the original owners who built the home in the mid 1970's. This house was Bill and Fonchen Lord's summer home. Fonchen was a sculptor and painter and worked on the overall design of the house with Warren Smith, who was the architect. Her paintings show the love of color and geometry that she expressed throughout this home. The red-orange pots and pans are over the fireplace as part of Fonchen's color design for the room, but they are also available for cooking.
Both Bill and Fonchen appreciated the panoramic view of Mount Washington as a moving, changing picture throughout the day and night. During their younger years, they hiked, climbed and skied throughout this area and at Pinkham and Crawford Notches. In their later years, they built this house so they could continue to make the mountains a part of their life together. We would like to have you enjoy the books about the history of New England and the geography and topography of the area.
