I highly recommend "The Bend" to anyone looking for a get away with a large group of friends and family. This home was very accomodating and the layout along with the view was amazing. Plus the owner was super nice to work with and ensured we had everything we needed. Great home and we can't wait to make this a yearly tradition.

We held my husband's birthday weekend here and had a wonderful experience. As other reviewers have commented, the house is huge, beautiful and has all the amenities you could want, the scenery is impressive, and Bonnie is wonderful to work with - she went out of her way to provide suggestions in organizing our surprise party. Would definitely recommend this to anyone else, it is such a unique property and wonderful to be able to get a large group of friends and family together.
Owner response:Kelly It was such a pleasure working with you and your friend Devin. It always makes me smile when the surprise party comes off without a hitch. We hope to see you and your group back again.

What a gorgeous spot! Breathtaking views, spacious accommodations, friendly small town atmosphere. We rented the house for a 4 day celebration with over 50 family members, and 7 children under the age of 6. The little kids loved the carpeted stairs, games, and spacious rooms for running around. Many of our guests stayed at the Robin Hood Cabins and the Alderbrook Resort and joined us up at the main house for meals. The house was perfect for our large group breakfasts and BBQ lunches. Many nights were spent outside by the firepit exchanging stories and watching shooting stars. Our goal was to relax with friends and family at the house, and also enjoy all the local activities Union and the surrounding area has to offer. Day 1: Lady Alderbrook boat tour of lower Hood Canal (Cindy Sund provided a great history of hood canal). Group dinner at the Robin Hood Restaurant (Kerry the owner was so sweet, and the food was amazing!) Day 2: Small boat rentals from Union Paddle and Row Center at the Hood Canal Marina. Canoes, Kayaks, hydrobikes... my relatives had a blast. Trip to Whitney Gardens, we plan to come back when the Rhododendrons are in bloom. Day 3: Cupcakes from a local baker. And really good Mexican food from 2 Margaritas. Played at the park down the street from the house (great play equipment for little kids, basketball hoop, and large field). Day 4: Trip to the Skokomish high steel bridge (what an amazing view) and Hunter farms to buy local produce and ice cream. We had a wonderful time and so did our guests. We will always look back on this past week as a really special time with loved ones. Thank you for sharing your home and Union with us!
Owner response:Wow Heidi your group did it all .We appreciate how well you took care of The Bend on Hood Canal. Thank you again for your business and we hope to see you around The Bend again real soon. Warmly, Bonnie

The Bend on Hood Canal is spectacular to say the least. The pictures on the site don't do it justice. When we walked it the house we were all speachless for a moment as we took in the view and space of the house. We had 23 people stay for a three day weekend and it was never crowded. The kitchen, bar and sitting area is HUGE! The wrap around deck has an amazing view any direction you look. The place is built to cater to large groups, we never ran out of anything - silverware, glasses, plates, towels etc. The place is well decorated and was spotless upon our arrival. Bonnie was very accomodating leading up to and during our stay. The water is close and there were lots of places to rent kayaks and boats - we went to Alderbrook resort. There were three bald eagles nesting within view and we say numerous seals every morning. I was a wonderful weekend. I highly recommend The Bend to anyone, but especially to someone looking for large group accomodations.

We just completed our annual family retreat at The Bend. We had 19 family members from 62 years old down to 6 months. The Bend met and exceeded all of our needs in a spectacular way. What an incredible home with such a gorgeous view of Hood Canal and the Olympic Mountains! The home is both elegantly beautiful and wonderfully comfortable. The gourmet kitchen was so large and well equipped that it made meal preparation for a large group much easier. There was so much space for the childrens games and puzzles, as well as gathering places for the adults. We had a fun side-trip to visit the beach at nearby Twanoh State Park. We capped off the last evening with roasting smores in the firepit in the backyard which delighted the children. None of us wanted to leave and we are all hoping to return in the future. Thank you so much, Bonnie, for allowing us to use your fantastic house for our retreat. We made memories that will last a lifetime!

Our family of 22 (plus our dog) stayed at The House on The Bend over Thanksgiving Holiday, and we had the time of our life. There was so much space, we never felt crowded. The kitchen and bar was so accommodating. The location of the house was perfect, a day trip to the ocean, a day trip, via Ferry, to Seattle. Ventured down to the two wine tastings on 106, and a visit to the Alderbrook Spa. The views from every room in the house, and the deck, were beyond impressive. Sitting out at night under the stars was humbling. We are ready to book our next vacation on The Bend.

Our daughter got married this Labor Day weekend in Union. Our entire family from all over the US and Canada were able to stay at the Bend making the event all the more special. The Bend made for a terrific base where we had a full house of family members staying, but also hosted several additional activities including the rehearsal dinner, flower arranging and bouquets, bridal attendant brunch & dressing area, and a wrap up dinner the evening after the wedding. The views were inspiring and we had some amazing sunsets. The house accommodated everyone and you could be a part of the many group activities or find a quiet place to get away. Bonnie was a terrific help from the beginning to the end. Always close by and available to answer our questions and make suggestions on how we could best accomplish our plans. The kitchen was in use constantly and we easily had 10+ people working there on several occasions but there was plenty of room and work space for everyone. The bar area was another great center of activity of eating, toasting, and just hanging out. The huge deck made the house twice as big and when coupled with the views it was a favorite place to meet, relax and engage others to share stories of past, present and future. We even found time to use the spa with it's private entrance and incredible views. At the end of the day it made for a relaxing way to end the day. We could go on, but the point is, it worked for us and Bonnie was amazing. No matter what your event, if you are looking for a place that is private, elegant yet functional, with terrific views and an owner who really cares, the Bend on Hood Canal will meet and exceed your expectations. Our family reunion was held this past weekend at The Bend and it was a huge success. The house is absolutely breathtaking, as is the view on the veranda. There was plenty of room for everyone, the furnishings were beautiful and we didn’t want for anything in the spacious kitchen. Cocktails, hors d’oeurves and live guitar music on the deck capped off a perfect afternoon. Bonnie was more than accommodating and available at all times by phone should the need arise. Our thanks to her for sharing this beautiful home with us….we are already planning our next visit. We would definitely recommend The Bend for any event.
Owner response:Nancy You are a gem! Thank you so much for the great comments for the website. It really means a lot to those like yourself that have not used The Bend. It is priceless to me because I always want people to come away with the feeling that their money was well spent and their life is touched with great memories here. We hope to see you and your group again. Thank you, Bonnie

Our group of friends and family have rented many beautiful homes over the years but the Bend literally took our breath away. The house is gorgeous, very well appointed and comfortable. The view is so spectacular that we couldn't take enough pictures. We also had a chance to explore the Hood Canal, a real hidden gem. Great hiking nearby and to our amazement we could harvest clams and oysters on the beach just minutes away. The Bend certainly exceeded our expectations. It was a great vacation, in a great area, in a fabulous house.

We go with 5 other families once per year to a lodge. Our visit to The Bend was great. Everything was clean and it was very spacious. We all had a lot of fun - playing in the park nearby, playing pool, spending time in the Hot Tub etc. Since our party was so big, the Bend fit our needs very well. The view was fantastic. We highly recommend this. If you want a more rustic, log cabin feel then The Bend is not for you.

We were fortunate enough to have a wedding extravaganza at The Bend in May. It was everything we wanted and more. We had the opportunity to spend an entire week with our immediate family members (12 adults/2 children) while getting married with the Olympic Mts. and Hood Canal in the background. Bonnie was so vigilant, and assured our stay was worry free. The entire Union area really pulled together in order to make our wishes come true. The food was fantastic (Kerry Myers at the Robinhood is a saintm and Simone Dickinson is the Best Stylist around)! We couldn't have asked for more. There was ample room so that everyone had their own space, and the common areas were large enough to not feel crowded. Also, the pictures are great of the house and views, but they just don't do it justice...IT IS AMAZING!! I strongly recommend The Bend for a wedding or any length of stay:)

We had 18 adults,5children and 2 teemagers and this house had room and a place for entertainment for all of us. The views from the main gathering area (and the entire front of the house) is breathtaking. Although this is not right on the water you really appreciate the beauty of Hood Canal and the views of the Olympic mountains. The days we were there it was cold and VERY CLEAR.... seemed like you could reach out and thouch these beautiful mountains. The kitchen has everthing you could possibly imagine ffor cooking and the seating accomodations for meals was perfect. Bonnie is a pleasure to work with and is extremely accomodating to make sure your stay is very pleasant. We will be telling everyone we know about this beautiful place. We hopefully will be returning soon and creating more special memories.

This house was AMAZING! We were staying at "the bends" for a bachelorette/ bridal shower and everyone was amazed by the house. They were all from out of state and everyone was blown away by the view that this house had. The beds were so comfy and the sheets were the softest i have ever layed in. (everyone in the morning commented on them) Directions were easy also the house was clean and if I needed ANYTHING Bonnie was a quick phone call away to answer ALL my questions. Can't wait to plan another event there. Thanks so much!!!!

I just had a girls only week with my 3 sisters and mother. We do this every year, but this year was the most relaxing vacation yet. The home and setting was very awe inspiring, words don't do it justice. We had more room than we could use. The hot tub was a great place for bonding and relaxing with my family and enjoying the view. We also had one of the best meals ever prepared at the Bend from the chef from the Robin Hood Restaurant, while he cooked, we enjoyed each others company, he then had us come into the ketchen where he prepared a to die for banana flambe desert while we watched. This home is very large, but doesn't feel too big, It's a great place to reconnect, refect, and enjoy God's wonders

We stayed at The Bend in Sept. 2009 for a 3 day Women's Soccer Retreat. There were 13 of us, all soccer players and also all moms looking for a weekend away. Really, the pictures don't do justice to the absolute perfection of this place. The house was sparkling clean & tidy - like brand new! The kitchen was amazing - two of all appliances, lots of workspace, and so well-appointed! We never felt crowded when cooking in groups. The wet bar was a huge hit with us, and you can bet that it was used all weekend! The view of the Hood Canal and accompanying treeline and mnts. was breathtaking at any time of day, but at sunset it was downright humbling. The house's gathering areas are perfect for large groups. We had plenty "gatherings" over the weekend, and no one ever felt crowded. The bedrooms were beautiful and comfortable. Each of us had our own bed - it's just that big of a home. We were fortunate enough to have members of the Kitsap Pumas come down to Union to train us on our second day, and the hot tub was the perfect end to a fun but exhausting day of soccer. It was immaculate, and had not only the same great view of the water, but was hooked up to the home's sound system. And that basket of fresh towels made us feel like we were at the spa. Bonnie, thank you for being so incredibly helpful and accommodating to our group - we found you to be so friendly & personable! We appreciated how quickly you responded to any questions we had. It's really hard to put into words how incredible the weekend was for all of us. Some in our group said that it was the best weekend they'd had in their life. It was relaxing and empowering, and filled with non-stop laughing, incredible food/drink, and so much fun! We had such a great time that we've already reserved The Bend for next year. Thank you for sharing your wonderful home & allowing us to have a weekend that we'll never forget.
Owner response:Thank you Ladies for the glowing review and the wonderful gift basket. I have to say that it was kick getting to know you and have you stay at The Bend. I look forward to your return next year and appreciate all the possible clients that you sent the website to. Sincerely, Bonnie

Our family came together for our first ever all family reunion at The Bend. We are a diverse group - 22 in all - ages 2 to 75 - from Australia, England, Montana, and Washington. Our 4 days were over the top - better than ever expected! It was if time stopped for a bit and we were together in this splendid place enjoying each other and our surroundings. We dug clams and oysters for our seafood dinner, sat in the sun, had a campfire, played pool, wii, had a barbeque, etc. By chance, we discovered the salmon run on the Skokomish River. The fisherpeople among us were delighted - they didn't catch anything, but they had a great time trying! The Bend is a remarkable facility - elegant and comfortable at the same time. The amenities are top drawer, we didn't need to bring a thing but our food. Try it out - I guarantee you'll love it! Deni Christensen

The house is truly incredible and had everything you could need. The area is amazingly beautiful and the views from the deck were breathtaking. Bonnie went above and beyond to make sure that we had everything we needed. I was always able to get a hold of her, I never had to leave a message. If you are planning a reunion or gathering why would you want to stay in any kind of hotel. This is a better value and much more fun. I miss "The Bend" already.

Bonnie, Thank you for offering such a lovely, lovely, unique location for our group! There are 14 of us women that meet every year, no husbands, no children!....we went through kindergarden, grade school, junior high, and high school together! Some of us went away to college together, and many of us went off in other directions to school. We originally are from Eastern Oregon, LaGrande. We now gather from Oregon,Washington,Utah,CA,Idaho. Many years we gathered on the Oregon Coast, then started looking towards the Pacific Northwest...one in our group was told about The Bend, and was told it would be perfect for us! We were fortunate enough to be able to reserve when we needed it...we arrived on a Wed., and departed on that following Sunday. We had perfect weather, so spent alot of time outside on the decks during the morning, afternoon and the evenings! A perfect place to enjoy that first cup of coffee of the day! The kitchen was an absolute dream! We were able to work side by side, plenty of room, and an absolutely delightful place to prepare meals. The "gathering rooms" are perfect for converstaion....such comfortable rooms, plenty of room, uniquely decorated/appointed, pleasant to the eye. Wide open, airey, lots of windows in all rooms, so that you had a feeling that you were outside, when inside! The house is located on a "bluff", so had privacey, never worried about someone looking into rooms. The neighbors are a delight...keep to themselves, friendly when spoken to. One gentleman was kind enough to come over when asked, to take a group picture, and he not only agreed to do it, but was a delightful guy! Turned out to have graduated from high school the same year we all did! Bonded right away! Would we suggest/recommend The Bend to our friends, YES! Would we gather here again? YES! We wish Bonnie all the luck in the world, that the word is spread about The Bend. We certainly will do our part in helping to make this happen. Bonnie is wonderful to work with..she is willing to go that extra mile to make your stay in her home The Best! We thank you Bonnie. We all wish you The Best!

The home is stunning, the furnishings beautiful and comfortable, the setting beyond extraordinary. Our family of 25+ was awed by the entire experience. I especially appreciate the accomodations available for every age: the Wii, pool table, foos ball, DVD's and multiple televisions for game hookups, the wireless internet, the spa...and we older folks had the wet bar and the deck with an absolutely killer view that allowed for total relaxation. Absolutely incredible! Thank you so much for EVERYTHING!

Our family of all ages 1-80 yrs were able to feel at home and pampered. Our family took advantage of the many activities such as running, hiking, kayaking, canoeing, clamming, checking out the seals, the starfish, fishing skidoing, and wakeboarding. There was something for everyone. Bonnie we so enjoyed meeting you. You were like family to us, too. Not to mention, so attentive and willing to accommodate us for anything we needed. We had a family reunion at The Bend in August that was amazing. It is the perfect place to enjoy your family or friends in a beautiful home with breathtaking views of the Olympics. Our family of 9, plus spouses and children aging from 1 to 25 took advantage of all the area had has to offer, and spent the evenings on the deck or enjoying the firepit down below. Bonnie was the best host, always there with information that we needed. She even provided perfect weather! It rates five stars for a beautiful setting and providing all the comforts of home.

We had a family reunion at the bend at the end of july. With 20 people, it was great have a large place to all gather. It was a beautiful house with more upgrades then I have time to mention. The view was unbelievable. I miss it already. I highly recommend it.
Owner response:Thank you Andy. We'll see you next year.

We had a 5-day family reunion the first week of July at the bend. We had 12 adults and ten children come from across the country. We all had a great time. The house is first class, the location and view tremendous, and the weather was great. It was the perfect vacation spot. The Bend exceeded our expectations in every way. Thanks Bonnie.
Owner response:Brent we look forward to your next reunion.

We had a family reunion at The Bend the first weekend in June. There were 18 of us (9 adults and 9 kids) and the house worked well for us. The huge kitchen was a treat and allowed many of us to be there preparing meals at the same time without tripping over each other. The Wii games, pool table and foosball were huge hits with the kids (AND the adults) and kept them happily entertained in spite of the gray weather. We also really enjoyed S'mores at the firepit our 2nd night, when the weather was a bit kinder to us. All in all, it was a great spot for our family to gather for a weekend and allowed us to all be under the same roof at the same time, a feat that isn't easy to achieve with our big clan.
Owner response:Thank you Kathy. We look forward to you and your family returning.

We rented The Great Bend for a New Year's celebration with a group (16) of old college friends and had a great time! Everyone was "wowed" by the Bend and its expansive space and living areas. Our group has rented homes before for our New Year's celebrations and The Bend is truly a luxury accomodation. Bonnie, the owner, was a pleasure to work with and made our stay easy and enjoyable. Thank you for everything and we will definitely rent The Bend again for another large group event!
Owner response:Celina. It was great meeting you. Thank you for your business.

On 9/22/07 we had our wedding ceremony in the Great Room at The Bend. There were 25 people in attendance and plenty of room for many more. The master bedroom was an exquisite "Bridal Suite". All of our guests from the age of 92 down to 3 were comfortable and had a fabulous time. The following day we celebrated Doug's 60th birthday with more people arriving. We had stargazing with Doug's fancy new telescope, stories & smores at the fire pit, and dancing and games throughout the house. The Sunday Seahawks game was raucous without disturbing the neighbors. From a guest who has rented many houses for different occasions throughout the Pacific NW I must say The Bend is unsurpassed in quality, amenities, price, and location. The drive is beautiful and worth the time taken to get there. We will definitely be back and many of our guests will be considering future events at The Bend. Bonnie could not have been more helpful - kudos galore!
Owner response:Suzanne & Doug, Thank you for the kind words. It was a joy to work with you both and we look forward to seeing you again.
