Fabulous Once in a lifetime vacation

Guest: The Rosses (Hawaii)
Date of Stay: 03/18/12 Review Submitted: 04/01/12

Our family of five enjoyed the experience of living in a real Parisian neighborhood. The apartment is in an old building with squeaky parquet wood floor and a lovely dining table overlooking the street . We could always count on getting fabulous meals and wonderful breads within easy walking distance from the apartment. The censier-daubenton metro station takes you anywhere you need to go. After a day of sightseeing it was nice to come home to a place where we each had our own space to rest. The mouffetard street was a fun place to make our last minute purchases to bring home. Thank you Juliette and Michele for an unforgettable visit!! Merci!

Large Comfortable Apartment with Excellent Landlady

Guest: Rita (Mexico)
Date of Stay: 01/16/12 Review Submitted: 01/23/12

This was my first trip to Paris with the children and I was eternally grateful for the size and comfort of the apartment. Having one toilet was a little tricky, but we managed somehow and it even became a point of interest for the kids, who had never been to Europe. There are not enough good things I can say about the de Cointet family. Juliette was able to get us an emergency dental appointment without batting an eye, the price was terrific and the apartment was exactly as advertised. It's always tricky renting sight unseen, so I can definitely recommend this apartment wholeheartedly to those who maybe are worried about scams. I will definitely seek this location out again and will recommend it to all family and friends planning a trip to Paris.

Celebrating My 50th in Paris!!!!

Guest: Elizabeth R.
Date of Stay: 01/11/12 Review Submitted: 01/18/12

I spent 5 glorious days in Paris w/ 7 friends & staying in this fabulous apartment helped make my trip just perfect. The location is great: safe, many shops, cafes and close to some of the sights. The apartment itself was clean, very comfortable, had all the necessary cozy comforts. Six of us slept there comfortably. If you ever go to Paris and want somewhere to stay, I highly recommend this apartment. Elizabeth Rankin, Washington, DC USA

Live like a Parisian!

What an ideal place for celebrating a milestone birthday! A group of five women shared this lovely, large and comfy apartment during two glorious weeks (in staggered stages) in October. It was the perfect apartment to come home to and relax in every night (with lots of wine, cheese and bread bought nearby) after our ambitious treks throughout the city all day! The apartment looked just like it was pictured, and we appreciated its "real-life chic" vibe. The neighborhood was everything we hoped for and more. We all took advantage of the incomparable rue Mouffetard every day for fresh everything (as well as a number of little local cafes and shops, with good prices on such things as boots, scarves, gifts, etc.). We bought the best bread (is there any "bad" bread in Paris?) every day from the boulangerie just down the block on "our" street, and even the take-out from the Asian market and the fresh pasta place on the rue Mouffetard were first-rate. The #7 Metro stop at Censier-Daubenton was SO convenient (we rode just about every line--so easy). This was truly a hassle-free experience, with the owner and her daughter a pleasure to deal with. If you want to have a "real-life" Parisian experience this is a great choice, space AND location-wise.

Charming 3 BR Apartment in the Quartier Latin

Guest: JDL (Perth WA Australia)
Date of Stay: 09/30/11 Review Submitted: 11/01/11

My family of 5 stayed in October 2011. We were met at the appartment when we arrived and taken through everything we needed to know regarding the appartment and the surrounded area by the owner. The apartment was clean and well presented and everything was functioning. The owners have been very helpful both during and after. The apartment was as we expected per the photos. Typical of European appartments the stairs are narrow and steep, but there is a small lift! It is a great appartment very much traditional for the area. It is very roomy (we actually had a spare bed and room) and we cooked and ate in many times during our stay. The location is very central near the metro and the many wonderful shops and restaurants in the area and in particular along Rue Mouffetard which is a short walk providing all the produce you need for dining at home or restaurants for eating out. We were able to walk to Notre Dame with the kids. As a result of the central location there is some traffic noise. However we would love to stay there again and have taken away some great memories of the trip which the apartment was part of and would recommend to friends.

We stayed for a week in early July 2011. The apartment was clean, adequately furnished with comfortable beds and excellent Wi Fi. The apartment is well placed for sight seeing, with the Metro and RER an easy walk. The area is thick with Paris life, markets, gardens, brasseries, boulangeries and restaurants. Our family enjoyed shopping for cheese and fruit at the local markets for a picnic lunch and buying baguettes and croissants for breakfast. It was a wonderful, stress free vacation.

Nice, comfortable but aging apartment

Guest: Andrzej K. (West Vancouver)
Date of Stay: 06/18/11 Review Submitted: 06/29/11

This is a very nice character-full apartment in a great neighborhood. The apartment is a good size and it is comfortably furnished. It suited our family of 5 well. The owner and her daughter were a delight to deal with. The only issue is that the apartment does require maintenance: peeling paint in some rooms, broken door knobs and the ancient squeaky floorboards while not a bother to us must surely have bothered people in adjacent units.

We had a great stay in Paris and the apartment was accurately described on the website. It is in a great location, very spacious and a great building. Michele and her daughter Juliette are as nice as everyone says in all of the other reviews! The only negative comments are that when we arrived there was no toilet paper and there was old soap in the shower from the previous tenants. The other thing that we personally had a problem with was that the only toilet is by itself in a tiny space with no sink but this may be typical of Paris apartments. In the future we will ask more questions before booking. Overall we highly recommend this apartment for those who want a true Paris experience.

Lovely apartment - great location

Guest: Philippa (New Zealand)
Date of Stay: 01/02/11 Review Submitted: 02/02/11

We very much enjoyed our stay in this apartment. It is spacious and comfortable, and the photographs on this site portray it accurately. The location is excellent - very close to the rue Mouffetard, and well placed for metro and bus transport. And it is central enough that one can walk to many places. Juliette was prompt and helpful. We are very happy to recommend it. One warning: the apartment seems to operate on the basis that successive tenants provide basics such as soap for handwashing, dishwashing liquid, toilet paper, lightbulbs, batteries for the tv remote, etc. All were in short supply when we arrived - and finding toilet paper late on a Sunday night at New Year when even "the man who is always open until 2am" was shut, was a challenge! Perhaps this system is standard with French or Paris rentals, but I've not found it in other countries.

Snow in Paris

Guest: JR (London, England)
Date of Stay: 12/11/10 Review Submitted: 01/09/11

My wife and I (living in London) and my sister and two teenage sons (from Melbourne, Australia) stayed in this apartment just prior to Christmas, 2010. I cannot recommend the apartment highly enough. From Camille's cheerful meet and greet upon our arrival, through to the last hours of our week long long stay in Paris, the accommodation was wonderful. Spacious for five adults, very Parisian in style and decor, excellent proximity to shops and public transport, warm throughout and well appointed, the apartment was welcoming after a long day touring the sites. And, the owners even arranged for snow during our stay...excellent customer service! A delightful home.

We would recommend this apartment if you desire an authentic Parisian experience. Chocolate shops, ice cream, fresh fruit stands, grocery stores, cafes, and fantastic bakeries are among a vast variety of businesses located within a short walk from the apartment.

Enjoyable Stay in Large, Well-Located Apartment

Guest: FirstTimeParis (USA)
Date of Stay: 04/26/10 Review Submitted: 05/13/10

We stayed in the apartment for five nights in April and had a great time. The apartment is large and comfortable. It's in a great location - very close to an outdoor market, shops, restaurants, and the Metro. We found everything to be as advertised in the listing. The owners are nice and very helpful. We enjoyed picking up baguettes and cheese just around the corner every morning. There's a great pizza place nearby, too. I'd recommend the property to a friend or relative.

Hard to overpraise the apartment and its location. We are a family of four (son is 12, daughter 5). Everyone had a room, the books were fantastic, the place was quiet, the location was perfect. Easy to buy all kinds of fresh food at Rue Mouffetard. Jardin de Luxembourg an easy walk. We loved this place and would live here year round if we could. Also, the family that rents the place could not be more helpful.

I felt exceptionally lucky to have found this charming apartment for my family's stay in Paris this March break. The apartment was roomy enough for 5 people, very well equipped and literally steps from rue Mouffetard (a bustling cobblestone street where I could buy fresh croissants every morning, and excellent fish, meat, fruit (and of course cheese!)to prepare meals in the apartment (we did not want to eat out for every meal, and the experience of shopping locally and feeling like we "lived" in Paris was important to us). The apartment felt very much like "home" for the week, and the location was excellent. The owner (Michele) and her daughter (Juliette) were warm and professional. I unhesitatingly recommend this apartment for those who want to feel less like "tourists" in Paris, and more like they are really living there (if only for a short time...!).

My wife, son, and I had previously lived in the 5th Arrondissement (years ago), so we were familiar with rue Claude Bernard and the many attractions of the area. For our June 2009 visit we needed room for our son and his family. The apartment was truly perfect for the five of us. It had excellent amenities and a wonderful location. (For those who don't know Paris, this spot in the Latin Quarter is an exceptionally good "home base.") The size of the apartment was ample, with three separate bedrooms, a great sitting room, and a dining area. It is important to report that working with Michèle de Cointet, and her daughter Juliette (on-site), was a pleasure from start to finish. They were prompt, helpful, and friendly. We applaud all elements of the experience.

Refined and charming bilt melbourne Review Submitted: May 29, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009 The apartment was perfect. The reviews are all true. I was looking initially in the Marais and has slightly worried about the location but it was great. The transport was easy, we used the 21 and 27 bus which pass along Claude Bernard mostly, but also used the underground. The buses in particular were easy to take the stroller on. As we had a restless toddler we didn't eat out, the closest pizza shop across the road towards luxembourg gardens did really good takeaway. We shopped for food in rue mouffetard mainly and just heated it up at home and made salads. The bread and the goats cheeses were a revelation. For us the little parks in the area with play equipment were great, as well as of course jardin des plantes and luxembourg gardens. The apartment was very clean and easy to live in, it was obvious it was not just a rental but someone's home, it was set out in a way that was elegant and comfortable, with an understated taste. I really liked the plain quality of the cotton textiles, and the way the apartment was decorated in a way that was respectful to the building. The owner and her daughter very helpful and easy to deal with. The information in the apartment about the area was well considered. The tourist highlights for us were Rodin and Balzac's houses and the de Chirico and Calder exhibitions. In the decorative arts museum, Jeanne Lanvin's bathroom was amazing, so excessive. Our son loved the carousel and pony cart ride at the Tuileries gardens and the big rocks at Jardin des plantes.

A Slice of Paris As Sweet As Her Pastries

Date of Stay: 05/27/09 Review Submitted: 06/03/09

I have never enjoyed an area as much as this one. The owner's lovely daughter Juliette met us as scheduled, and everything was as we expected. We found the apartment clean and in good order and far more than enough room for the four of us. The floors were a bit old and squeaky, but at my age, so am I. The apartment and the Latin Quarter area around it grows on you, and after 3 days, I really didn't want to leave. The garden flowers were in bloom and very beautiful. Compared to California, Paris is a quiet oasis without the horrible boom-box car stereos that plague America. I was rattled back to reality as soon as we arrived home. So thank you for a little slice of French heaven; words cannot adequately convey the wonderful time that we had in your apartment and neighborhood. Please do try and stop by the Cafe La Bourgogne, it was most excellent, as were all of the pastry shops in your area. I think we stopped at every one of them. I would heartily recommend this property for seniors as everything is on one level: a definite plus! Thank you again for having us! If we are fortunate enough to return to Paris, this apartment will be my first choice for accommodations. Larry, 27-30 May 2009

Spacious and charming apartment

This spacious apartment is very much as described by the owner on the website, indeed in some ways she understated her description. It is quite central within Paris, and is situated within a charming community in the Mouffetard/ Monge area. It is much larger than other alternatives that we considered, and was very comfortable for the two couples and a teenager that shared the amenities on one weekend during our stay. The kitchen is wonderful-I like to cook when I am on holiday, and bring with me several implements from my own kitchen- these were unnecessary at this address! Even if I come to Paris just with my wife next time, I would consider paying the little extra for this apartment; we would consider it worth it, even if we don't need all the rooms.

Thank you Michele and Juliette. We had a wonderful holiday in your gorgeous apartment. After hitting the streets of Paris all day with our three children in tow it was bliss returning to ‘our’ warm homely, confortable apartment. The location was fabulous – rue Mouffetard, St Germain etc… so close – we loved the Luxembourg gardens – kids loved the playground, carroussel and pony rides. We found the metro convenient (although a little challenging with our double pram) however the 21 bus was great and took us where we wanted to go. Our children especially loved the little bath – bit of a squeeze for 3 but lots of fun.Thank you for linking us up with Isabelle who babysat for us and allowed Malcolm and I the opportunity to explore another side of Paris together. 5 weeks here in the Paris apartment was really special family time for us. We feel very grateful to you for sharing your home with us. We hope to return one day !Amanda, Malcolm, Charlotte, Georgia and Hamish (Brisbane, Australia)

Thanks, Juliette, for setting us up here and sorting out the odd problem ! The apartment has been fantastic for our week in Paris – very comfortable, clean, safe and homely. Having real possessions, rather them functional furniture, has made this more like a home-swap than a rental. Our children also loved zxploring the bookshelves : I don’t think they ever thought Tintin would come in anything other than English !The rue Mouffetard has been a constant pleasure and everything we were hoping to find we found ! Highly memorable. We all enjoyd riding around, seeing the sights, happy to come back ‘home’ at the dinner time !Lydia (Australia

Your apt. was perfect for my family's needs. Juiette's information about the buses and Metro were very useful for us. Having such a comfortable place to stay for our special week allowed us to relax, enjoy the neighborhood and have individual space...something 3 generations of strong women need. We managed to visit the places that gave my family a sense of the flavor of Paris. We took the BatoBbus to the Tour Eiffel and back to Musee D'Orsay. walked to the Arena Lutece and Notre Dame, bussed to the Opera Garnier, walked to the Louvre and Tuilleries, rented boats for the girls to tend, rode the Ferris Wheel, took the Metro to the Arc de Trihompe and walked back down the Champs Eylsee (spelling ?) and visited book stores(we all read), met my Collioure landlady for lunch at a bistrot in the 20th, visited Gare de Lyon to see the TGV and, finally Friday afternoon took the bus to Luxumbourg Gardens. The trip was smooth in all respects and accomplished all I had hoped. My daughter took 600 pictures

Your apt. was perfect for my family's needs.

We had a wonderful stay in this lovely apartment which is extremely comfortable and well equipped. Best of all - you can walk to most of the main sites in a very short time and the local shops and restaurants are excellent.

This welcoming apartment offers a place to each member of the family - you can find a room for a teenage and one for a younger child, as well as one for the grandparents (or family friends). There is a space where you can listen to music or watch TV, while your spouse can read a book or browse the net in the other room (office/library room), or fix the dinner in the well-equipped kitchen. The view from the kitchen gives a glimpse into the life of the Parisians, with the view of the surrounding balconies and windows, and the little yard where the neighbors like to gather for intimate celebrations. The hardwood floors and high ceilings add to the charm of this place that is alive with the personalities of its highly cultivated owners through the beautiful drawings on the walls, the little objects decorating the shelves here and there and the amazing collection of books. With the bus stations in front of the building, the beautiful market from rue Mouffetard a few blocks away, and the Seine within 15 minutes walk, this place is perfectly located for any age, ability or interest. I would go back here like going home, as it reminded me of my childhood apartment in a European city.

We very much enjoyed our stay in Paris, perhaps the most beautiful city in the western world. We were able to recover from long days of sight seeing in your spacious apartment, and we enjoyed the wonderful neighbourhood. We came to feel quite at home from Place Monge to Place d'Italie. Many thanks to Juliette for her carly assistance. Best wishes to you, Michele.

We loved the classic style of the apartment, the old wood floors, the fireplaces. We also enjoyed looking through the bookshelves. The location is great. New visitors!!! Make sure you go down two blocks and left turn into the market. Have some breakfast at 'La salle à manger'. It's awesome!

A lovely apartment

This is a lovely apartment to stay in! My husband, 17 year old daughter, 12 year old son and a family friend stayed here for a week in July. The location is just as described - so convenient to everything - shops, cafes and markets. It really is only a 15 min walk to Notre Dame with the Pantheon to look at on the way! So Paris is easily accessible by foot or indeed by tube (5 mins walk) or the bus (for example we went directly to the Opera Garnier and the Gare de Lyon by bus). Juliette, the owner's daughter met us when we arrived and was very helpful. The accommodation is very comfortable, clean and well equipped. The library is indeed extensive (we enjoyed looking up the Paris street names in one of the reference books). It was lovely to have a separate dining room, living room and kitchen - so we at no time felt in any way cramped. All in all we really enjoyed our lovely week in Paris and the accommodation was a major factor in this.

Two weeks in Paris

Found this apartment on the internet and it proved to be a terrific place for myself and our 2 daughters to explore Paris. Michele gave us all the information we needed to help us make the decision to choose this rental and Juliette (her daughter) met us and helped us get acquanted with the apartment and the area. The apartment was perfect for us..large, spacious, clean, comfortable beds, lots of dishes, cutlery, 2 bathrooms ...It was so close to Rue Moufftard market...fish, cheese, oils, wines, meats, patissiere, boulangier, veggies and fruits, restaurants, shopping. And the metro was within 5 minutes walk...we felt safe in this district. The only negative is that Rue Claude Bernard is a busy and sometimes noisy street so if you are sleeping in the bedrooms on that side of the apartment I suggest you take ear plugs, but the positive things far outweighed this one problem.
