Our very comfortable and well equipped year round vacation property is located in close proximity by road or by boat to the village of Port Carling in Muskoka, considered to be one of Canada's top vacation and golf destinations.
Port Carling, is just over two hours north of Toronto and is referred to as the "Hub of the Muskoka Lakes" because of its central location connecting the largest of the Muskoka Lakes - Lakes Muskoka, Rosseau and Joseph. From our central location the boating enthusiast can explore hundreds of square miles of outstanding boating upon very pristine and scenic waters.
Our retreat is accessed from a year round paved road into a private 300 foot level driveway. The cottage and large 1500 sq ft wrap-around deck are both on the same level as the driveway. You may drive to within a few feet of the cottage entrance so that guests of all ages have very easy access into the cottage and around the cottage decking from the one level.
On the spacious 2000 square foot main level of the cottage you will find a large, fully equipped kitchen including laundry facilities. The large living room area provides comfortable lounging for all guests. It features a fireplace with stone hearth and a audio/visual entertainment center with large flat screen TV mounted above the fireplace. An assortment of DVDs, CDs, games and children's toys are available. The living area has "wall to wall" windows for a wonderful view overlooking the back deck and the lake.
A large dining room with walk out to the deck is located at one end of the cottage. Three large bedrooms plus a four piece bathroom are located at the other end. Two playpens and highchairs for infants are also available. The Master Bedroom has a second five piece ensuite bathroom and another walkout to the deck. The back deck overlooking the lake has an outdoor dining set for eight and other lounge seating for morning coffee.
The lower basement level has an additional two bedrooms. The lower level leads outdoors to a outdoor shower (hot & cold water) surrounded by a cedar privacy screen.
The building was designed for year round use. A forced air heating system will handle the coldest winter night while individual room controlled electric heat or the wood burning fireplace may be all you need on those frosty autumn evenings.
The lovely property is almost three acres in size and about 75% covered with towering oak, maple, white birch and pine. The rest is grass covered. A valley and stream run up one side of the property. From the cottage several stairs lead you down to a grass covered area which is then level down to the lake and firepit area (firewood supplied!).
At lakeside, a southern exposure brings full sunlight during the day and pleasant shade in the late afternoon. The deck at lakeside projects partly out into the lake where the stream enters from the valley.
The lakeside deck connects to a 50' fixed dock with an additional 18' attached floating dock at the end. Water at the floating dock is about 3'-4' deep to dock 2 boats up to about 25'. This is an ideal location for all water sports. Two kayaks, 3-seat canoe, windsurfer, 4-seat paddleboat and a large float raft anchored about 50' offshore in about 7' of water are available. Kids (and adults too!) love to swim out and lounge on the raft. While at the dock you may see the oldest operating steamer in North America, the "Segwun" steam by on a passenger cruise (available in Port Carling).
Guests with a boat will find conditions excellent for wakeboarding and water skiiing. Take a tour of spectacular Lake Muskoka or cruise up into Port Carling where you can dock at the extensive free town docking to explore the village shops and restaurants. Then proceed through the town locks into the beautiful Indian River and then into the crystal clear waters of Lakes Rosseau and Joseph. For the avid fisherman, the area has some of Ontario’s best fishing. (Boat rentals are close by and for those with their own boat, a free boat launching ramp is five minutes from the cottage).
If you have wee ones, take them to the wonderful Hanna Park beach and children's playground just minutes from the cottage by boat or car. Or take them to Santa’s Village in Bracebridge. They will love both!
Muskoka will allow you to enjoy all four Canadian seasons -
Spring and summer mean swimming, kayaking, boat tours, fishing, golfing on one of the many top courses in the area, exploring Muskoka, hiking in the wonderful algonquin park region, or just relaxing on the dock. Autumn brings Indian Summer, morning mists, harvest moons, and North America's most spectacular fall colors (Fall colors begin in mid September and run through mid October). Winter offers ice fishing, snowshoeing and access to thousands of kilometers of groomed snowmobile trails just minutes away.

Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2000
Ross and I purchased this cottage in the year 2000. I have spent most of my life cottaging in Muskoka and really love it! My own children have learned to love Muskoka as well as they were lucky enough to spend lots of time at family cottages before we acquired this one of our own. We hope you enjoy your stay at our cottage.

Dear Ross & Susan, Thank you very much for the use of your cottage for the week. The entire family had a great time. We enjoyed seeing the deer in front of the cottage two nights in a row and the amount of fish the kids caught off the dock was amazing. The cottage interior was so warm and friendly we felt right at home. The bottle of wine you left us was a nice warm welcome. Everything we needed was there and we enjoyed all our meals together in the dining room. I just love some of your antique pieces. We were surprised to see so many flowers surrounding your property. The girls loved the kayaks, paddle boat and floating raft. They had lots to do without driving anywhere. We did two hikes and our youngest enjoyed Hanna's Park very much. It has been a while since our two oldest visited Santa's Village, but we did go back and are glad we did. Thanks again Ross and Susan for letting us share your piece of paradise and we hope that one day we will return.

Dear Ross & Susan, Thanks for letting us use your beautiful cottage for the week. We enjoyed our stay very much. Dear Folks, My holiday at your lovely cottage has been a real pleasure. I am the 86 yr old great grandmother who is lucky enough to be included in our group. The weather has been ideal every day and we have made use of all your lovely furnishings. Thank You "Grandma". Dear Cottage owners, I am the aunt from Denver Colorado who also was lucky enough to be included. The Muskoka Lakes area is just magnificent - enhanced by your comfortable cottage. Boating, sunning, the Segwun, and scrabble games will be fond memories. Thanks for sharing your wonderful cottage.
