Beautiful Condo in the Perfect Location

My extended family rented this condo and another one on the floor directly above it. There were a total of 10 people in our party and it worked perfectly. Both condos had 3 beds and 3 full baths, a kitchen, a dining room, a living room and a spacious wrap around deck with a beautiful view of the ocean. We saw the wonderful pictures and were trying not to get too excited about the amenities for fear of a let down, but every picture of them was as good as promised. We knew the Marina Vallarta area very well from staying at the Marriott in the past and knew that Shangri-La was a perfect location. I am very partial to the Marina Vallarta location because it offers many shops, restaurants and spas in (what feels like) a safe location. The owners were prompt and helpful in answering our questions and provided us with guides for the area. As I mentioned before, we were a family of about 10 that went down to escape the Portland rain, sit by the pool and relax and it did not disappoint. My sister brought her three kids (13, 11 and 8) and they had a great time. The pool had a bar and a cafe with a basic but reasonably priced menu. I would definitely recommend the listing to friends or relatives - most of them were already on the trip with us. Aside from the condo area, I would definitely recommend a zip line tour and visiting the city. I don't worry too much about gang violence in Puerto Vallarta, but there has definitely been a creep toward Jalisco. My advice would be to visit the city and the incredible sand sculptures for lunch and to generally stay in places you are familiar with and feel safe. In the marina area, I recommend dinner at Victor's, but only if you brought your tolerance. Overall a fantastic condo in a wonderful location.

Don I just wanted to tell you what a great time we had and the Shangri La is a lovely place. Your condo is absolutely beautiful not to mention how VIP you felt when the elevator opened right into your room. So spacious with everything you needed to make a vacation perfect including the whirlpool tub and breathtaking views. The attention to detail was superb. I love to cook and I did take advantage of the great kitchen and cooked up a few breakfasts. I can't thank you enough for giving us such a great offer. It was well worth the money and more. We definitely will be contacting you the next time we plan our trip to PV. We've been going to PV for 15 years and have always stayed in the Marina at a resort all inclusive property that we absolutely loved but we all the features you have to offer I can't think of anywhere else we'd want to stay. The couple that joined us does a lot of traveling but had never been to PV before. They were blown away and they have never stayed in such a posh and beautiful place. We look forward to the next time.

Don, I can't thank you enough for the amazing time we had at your condo in Puerto Vallarta. The place is a gem, the amenities are first class with all the comforts of home (and then some); and you were a pleasure to work with getting the arrangements set up. My wife and I are already looking at our calenders for our next trip to Shangri La, Tower 4, 9a. Thank you again for everything...the whole experience was 5 star.

Pasamos unas muy buenas vacaciones en Puerto Vallarta en el condominio, por cierto está muy agradable con una vista muy bonita de la bahía, de la alberca y los jardines, un lugar con mucha seguridad y sobre todo muchos detalles bien cuidados, como son los accesorios e implementos de cocina, todo lo que es ropa de blancos y toallas para la alberca. En general todo excelente, te felicito Don por ese lugar tan bonito. Esperamos volver con mi familia nuevamente En verdad lo recomiendo

One of the biggest advantages to living in the great Pacific Northwest is direct access to Alaska Airline’s non-stop service from Sea-Tac to Puerto Vallarta. Our family (4 adults) enjoyed 14 fabulous days living the good life thanks to Mr. Hertel’s 9th floor condo (rooms with multi-views of Banderas Bay). What a wonderful, calming, stress-free two weeks. We will definitely visit again and again. The condo is spacious and comfortable with amazing views of the Bay and surrounding area. Pictures on Don’s website accurately depict the condo and Shangri-La. Awesome sunsets (a daily occurrence) offer a perfect segue to a wide range of relaxing or exhilarating evening activities. Start your mornings with a cup of coffee on the balcony. You can watch the dolphins and fishing boats start their day. The condo is equipped with all the amenities you will need. We had the air conditioning on more than was necessary. It wasn’t till mid-point of our stay that we realized how the breezes off the bay cool the condo. Little air conditioning is needed to stay cool. Don’s condo is “family friendly” with a high chair and lots of pool toys. Each bedroom has its own bathroom en suite. Sweet :-) Shangri-La is immaculate, beautiful and secure; with lush, well manicured vegetation and lawns framing it’s water wonders. The grounds are tended to daily and that includes the pools. The main pool is amazing. HUGE describes it best. You will spend a lot of time either beside or in it. Shangri-La’s staff is friendly, pleasant and helpful. The location in the Marina area is ideal because you are close to everything. Nearby, plenty of places to explore and restaurants offering a wide variety of food await you. Catching a bus to other places in Puerto Vallarta is easy, accessible, and a whole lot of “bouncy bouncy” fun:-). As previously mentioned, we will be visiting again and again. We just returned for our vacation to Puetro Vallarta and loved everything about Property #171794. Check in was handled flawlessly. Accomodations were very modern, clean, and well appointed. Pleanty of space and all the right supplies. The grounds and pool area were beautiful, quiet, and luxurious. We were one of at most ten families using the pool each day, and the pool service was great! We also loved being able to walk across the street to the Marina for restaurants, groceries, shopping, etc. Great property, in a great location, and well managed. A couple of tips: Get Pesos when you first arrive. Many of the restaurants, pool bar, etc. do not take credit cards. Also, be ware some of the Taxis tend to overcharge, so get a quote before accepting a ride. Porto Bello Restaurant in the Marina was amazing! We stayed at this property for a week. After a few minor check in glitches, we found the property to be well worth the money we spent. The view from the balconies was amazing, the location is central to the marina area, and transportation was easily found just outside via public buses or taxis. Linens and toiletries were in abundance and the furnishings were very tasteful. Great condo!

This review is quite late as we stayed here in August 2009. We discovered this gem just 3 weeks prior to our trip. We had hotel reservations at the Marriott which turned out to be just next door. Let me just say THIS IS THE PLACE WE WANT TO RETURN TO AGAIN! For almost the same amount we would have spent on a small, crowded hotel room (we are a family of 5), we got a full size house. My children, 17, 10, 9, were in heaven with the luxury amenities. They loved having so much space to spread out, their own flat screen TV's in room, own bathrooms, large walk-in closets, the private elevator entrance right to the condo, and the enormous, warm water pool. I loved the luxurious master suite, walk-in closet with fixtures, full kitchen, washer/dryer, beach towels provided, toiletries, amazing wrap around views, and the prime location. Buses and taxis stop right in front of the building which made traveling into town super easy. Condo is in a sercure gated community. The building employees at the gated entrance are very hospitable and Don's caretaker (can't recall name) to the condo takes good care to show you around the property and is easy to contact for any needs. This trip was a special "homecoming" for me to visit my family who lives here. Had not been back to visit in 20 years. Staying here made it so much more memorable. Don was very honest, made himself available to answer all questions and concerns. We had an amazing family vacation and will definately be returning to his property whenever we return to PV. This place was so amazing I felt like I could just leave my home behind and stay there without looking back. Thank you Don!

We just came back from a wonderful vacation at this magnificent condo. Everything was perfect, the condo is beautiful and with all the equipment we need for a pleasant stay. All the information gave to us by the owner in the welcome letter was very important and useful and also the staff in Shangri-La gave us an excellent service during the whole week. All my family is waiting for another chance to go to Puerto Vallarta and rent this beautiful and magnificent condo at Shangri-La.

WOW- we stayed in the condo for a week and we were so sorry to have to leave- everything was perfect!! The kitchen is fully equipped and everything we needed was there.The views were amazing, the staff awesome and very friendly. The POOL was awesome- we couldnt have asked for a better place to cool off! The Marriott is next door and the restaurant on the beach was very good. We went to the marina bars and restaurants daily ( the Marina is only a couple of blocks -walking- we never needed a car)and had a great time meeting the locals- we even felt like we were locals as well- everyone was so friendly. I would highly recommend staying here and we cant wait to go back next year!! Thanks Don for everything-it was perfect!!! Tara,Tammi and Bronwyn!

We had a wonderful time in Vallarta! Your condo is great, and everything about our stay went perfect. I've rented many condos and homes in Mexico and USA, and I could say this is the best treatment we've received. The contract, the welcome letter, all the instructions and pictures you sent were very helpful. By the way, we went to Porto Bello and La Palapa restaurants as you sugggested and they were also great. We loved our vacation and your condo, and definately are planning to come back sometime.

We highly recommend this amazing condo and complex, the views and stunning, the condo is very comfortable and the owner was very accomodating. Plenty of room for plenty of people, no tripping over anyone! This is very much a Five Star plus. We had a great time visiting the very busy downtown and coming back to relax at the peaceful Shangri-la. Top Notch! We really felt that we got everything we needed and more than we expected.
