  My family (husband and 11 & 13 year old sons) stayed here for 4 days and enjoyed lovely sunny days here, despite it being the middle of Winter! We sat out on the back deck for morning tea before setting off for Santa Monica, or walking to Melrose Ave, or a short drive to the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The beds and lounge were comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. The washer and dryer worked well. Nice safe neighbourhood. Joe was easily contacted and his information pack was very informative in respect to closest supermarkets and restaurant favourites. We tried a couple of the supermarkets and restaurants and enjoyed ourselves immensely.

  This review is long overdue! We are from Michigan--my husband and I took our 3 kids on a California coast tour, starting in San Diego and ending up in SF! We made the Havenhurst Bungalow our "base-camp" for exploring L.A.! Lovely, comfortable bungalow. Of course we did West Hollywood, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, toured Warner Bros, etc. and this was very convenient. Traffic was really rough (very long commute with hitting traffic at all times) getting to and from the beaches, so you should either make a day of it at the beach or find closer accommodations to the beach if that's your thing. Joe, the owner is very accommodating and attentive--most interested in making your stay comfortable. He was happy to spend time on the phone or emails answering ALL my questions! Very nice, safe neighborhood. Parking availability on the street was not a problem--we parked right out the front door of the bungalow most times--on street cleaning day (1 evening), we had to park a block away (but not a big deal). Two bedrooms, full bath, well-stocked kitchen, laundry (with supplies!) and family room--all this much more reasonable (and nicer!) than a hotel!

  This is our second rental with Joe. Last year we stayed in Bungalow 2 ( Excellent!), this year we gave Bungalow 1 a try. We cannot say enough positive things about our Havenhurst experiences. The bungalows are a perfect place to experience Los Angeles. Bungalow 1 is also a small piece of heaven. The rooms are comfortable, the layout is perfect with the living areas in the front and the bedrooms in the back. Sleeping in is no problem if other guests are up and about. The kitchen is very well equipped and easy to use for everything from preparing a snack to a full meal. Having the washer and dryer right there is a major convenience if you are staying more than a few days. With all the windows there is plenty of sunlight and ventilation if you wish or air conditioning if you need it. Both bedrooms are extremely comfortable and the bathroom is very conveniently located by the bedrooms. The deck in back is excellent to sit and relax or for meals. The garden area gives you even more room to enjoy the wonderful Los Angeles weather. Within easy walking distance are Melrose Avenue for shopping, L.A. style, or Santa Monica Blvd. for more practical purchases. We especially enjoyed having Marco's Italian restaurant in one direction and the Improv Comedy Club in the other direction both about two blocks away! We HIGHLY recommend either bungalow for short or long stays in Los Angeles and for exploring from Malibu down to Redondo Beach. Also, working with Joe is always a real pleasure. He is the perfect combimation of personable and professional. Always responsive, always pleasant, and always polite. We are already looking at our third year rental and hope we have the opportunity for many more!!!

  We loved our time at the Havenhurst! Joe is a true professional and a pleasure to do business with. The home was immaculate when we arrived. The fresh flowers and bottle of wine were a welcome touch, as were all the amenities of this rental, including Direct TV, a guide to local attractions, local restaurant menus, plenty of towels and a well-stocked kitchen. Joe was incredibly responsive to any questions or needs we had. I couldn't figure out how to get the Direct TV working (certainly my own incompetence!) and Joe came over within 10 minutes to help me set it up. The house is located in a lovely neighborhood that is central to all LA has to offer. I will definitely plan to stay at the Havenhurst for future LA visits. Thank you!

  The whole process of staying at Havenhurst bungalow 2 is handled professionally but with a minimum of fuss. Joe was helpful and everything in this roomy property was as it appears online. What you don't see is how central the house is to shops, restaurants, fantastic malls and a great Sunday market. The area is leafy residential, quiet, fun and very safe to walk around. An unexpected bonus was Joe's detailed guide to the area complete with discount loyalty card for the local supermarket. Would really recommend this rental.

  This Bungalow on Havenhurst is truly lovely. Not only is it beautifully maintained and in a fabulous neighborhood, Joe is an excellent host. He handled all of our questions promptly and thoughtfully (including weird ones, thank you!). The 5 of us (our 79 year old mother, two 17 year olds and two 50 somethings) had a enough space to share dinners, wine and root beer floats while maintaining privacy in a warm and comfortable space. The thrift shops on Melrose and Santa Monica had great selections and provided a great afternoon of shpping, with our best deals coming from Out of the Closet right around the corner. My only regret is that we were not able to extend our stay! This will be our first choice for future stays in LA. Thank you!

  If you are looking for a quiet, comfortable hideaway in West Hollywood that is convenient to everything, this is it!! The bungalow (#2) was a great base for exploring West Hollywood, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, and much more. The two bedrooms are comfortable and in the back, so they are very quiet. A deck off the master bedroom is a great place for meals or a relaxing afternoon read! A spacious and well equipped kitchen is perfect for snacks or meals and is complemented by the BBQ. A spacious dining room and living room provided for relaxing meals at home and some down time after a long day of sightseeing. However, if you prefer dining out or some late night entertainment, you are in luck. West Hollywood is a treasure trove of cafes and clubs, all within walking distance. Street parking was no problem, even with street cleaning rules. The real selling point though is the “walkability” of this bungalow. Whether it’s for a stroll through the lovely neighborhood or to access shopping, dining, or entertainment. We could go on and on, but just be sure this is one of the best vacation rentals in the West Hollywood area. If you get the chance to visit don’t pass it up!! The owner, Joe, is very accommodating, helpful and pleasant. This is a definite 5-star rental!!!!

  Have stayed here twice. Have stayed in VRBO properties all over the world and can honestly say Joe is the best landlord. The bungalow is so convenient to restaurants and easy to walk anywhere. Walked to Whole Foods every morning for fresh baked goodies. Kitchen is well equiped. Beds are very comfortable. Neighborhood very safe. Cannot say enough good comments about this property. Special treat are the fresh oranges from the tree in the back yard.

  At an auction, my wife and I bid on, and won, a one week stay in the Bungalows. (That's the "won"). Though we never redeemed our prize within the first year per the terms of the prize, I finally had a chance to visit West Hollywood with an old friend to see a concert at The Greek. Joe was very generous in allowing us to redeem the prize and stay in Bungalow One (the "One" of the situation). What we won was a fantastically pleasant surprise - emphasis on "fantastic" and "pleasant". The bungalows are so convenient to the Burbank Airport, The Greek, walking distance to restaurants and shops and an easy drive to all that Hollywood has to offer, that we were able to enjoy so much more than our 30 hours in L.A. would otherwise allow. Just so you know - the Mondrian and The Grafton hotels are a few blocks away. The bungalows are fastidiously maintained with every comfort. The on-line photos cannot impart the "chi" of this adorable West Hollywood vintage bungalow or the charm created by the proprietor. The residential location provided only quiet and solitude which one could enjoy with a glass of wine or cup of coffee on the back patio off of the bedroom - with mature landscaping of palms and citrus, ferns and flowers. The beds and bedding are "guest-room" quality and invited a nap with the windows open to enjoy the perfect breeze without any disturbance from noise or neighborly activity. The layout is roomy and the bedrooms and living area are separated by a long hallway so guests can easily stay out of each other's way (or sight). Don't fear the street parking - where there is plenty, the residential location - which is quiet, safe, and sedate, or the owner-managed aspect - which is as attentive and well orchestrated as you will need - Joe was accessible to immediately respond to a high-maintenance guest like me. Need I rant and rave any more? Do yourself a favor and book this bungalow now. Last minute reservations, by the way, aren't always easy to come by at the Havenhurst Bungalows.

  My daughter and I stayed at Havenhurst for 8 days in Aug 2010. I was in town to attend a seminar with my daughter, who lives in a teeny apartment about seven miles east of the rental. Wonderful amenities. This home is marvelous and so much more than we expected. The house is clean, well stocked and comfortable. We had space needed to work and relax, enjoyed the A/C and cable TV, and had the option to cook for ourselves, order in, or walk down the street. Other than a second bath, there was not one item we didn't have, Joe has thought of everything needed to make you feel at home. Needless to say I will be looking at the Havenhurst for future trips to LA.
