Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2007

Troy is a CA beekeeper and Susan is a children's pastor at a non-denominational church. They have two grown children who are both married. They have been blessed with 4 beautiful granddaughters!

Why the Owner Chose Maui Kaanapali Villas

We have vacationed at Maui Kaanapali Villas since 1990 and have always loved the property. We finally purchased our first condo at MKV in 2004 and have never regretted it! We purchased our second unit in 2005.

The Unique Benefits of this Condominium

We love the beach, the new pools are fantastic, the grounds are absolutely beautiful and the resort is so peaceful, especially in the evening with all the tiki torches. The view from the Castaway Cafe can't be beat. We love having breakfast there and watching the whales.

    • My wife and I had gone to Maui in May of 2004 and stayed at the Kaanapali Villas. When our 5 year anniversary was coming up, we wanted to return to Maui to enjoy another momentous occasion in such a beautiful place. I found this condo online and it had so much promise. AND it lived up to it and more. The room and amenities are exactly as described. The room is great and we loved relaxing and reading on the bed as well as sitting on the couch and watching some TV. They even had a nice little nook to enjoy our morning breakfast and juice. Perfect place to stay for a trip to Maui. The bed is SUPER comfortable and the room has several beach towels provided as well as some lawn chairs for the beach! Very handy. It even had a boogey board. Probably the best secret is that the room has a copy of Maui revealed which was super helpful in making our trip such a grander experience. The grounds of the Villas are very pretty and some of the best snorkeling in Maui is literally a 2 minute walk up the beach. Black Rock, Molokini, and Lana'i don't hold a candle. I've done them all and this snorkeling is just as good if not better, because it's free and so close. We saw several turtles just off this same reef. Very cool. Susan was an absolute delight to work with. If we ever go back, it isn't even up for discussion who we are calling. Thanks Troy and Susan for such a positive Maui experience. Loved the room and location! AWESOME!

    • We stayed here from July 29th-August 5th 2008 with our 10 week old daughter for a wedding. It was a perfect fit for us, since we were looking to save on accomodations so that we could eat out most meals. There's a toaster, microwave, and coffee maker in the unit. So I would often start with a bagel, kona coffee, and fresh papaya. That was enough until dinner, then we would walk to Whaler's or one of the major hotels. The Villas are very low-density, and don't get crowded like the other resorts. Often there was only one other person in the pool, and maybe 5 on the beach. The unit is all tile, and clean. The lanai's are kind of pointless, since one faces a walking path and parking lot, and the other the main entrance into the complex. So if you are looking for a room with a view, this is not for you. But if you plan to take your views in all day, and just need a place to crash and clean up, this is perfect. There's good snorkeling just a couple steps North toward the Westin next door. Compare the traffic between the Villas and any of the major resorts and you'll see that this is a great place. Things to avoid: 1) the Luau at the Royal Lahaina next door - overprice crap. They pack you in with 700 people 2) Bubba Gump shrimp in Lahaina - it has nothing to do with Hawaii (the shrimp probably comes from the Phillipines through US Food Service), it's a chain like Hardrock, the food is overpriced and lousy - and was it really that great of a movie to start a restaurant chain after? 4) Castaway Cafe's pasta night - it's no name pasta, with a jar of no name sauce dropped on it - no flavor, and not much of a deal for flour and tomatoes. Things to do 1) snorkel Honolua Bay, if conditions are right; 2) Eat at the Westin Hotel (Not the Westin Condos) good food, even if a little expensive, and nice open air atmosphere. 3) Cheap eats at the Hula Grill (casual section) in Whalers' with live music after 7:30. 4) Get souvenirs and food/drinks/macadamia nuts at the the Walmart or Costco - it's 30% cheaper. 5) swim, swim, swim!

    • Enjoyed staying at your condo this year and was a pleasure to have met you both. After staying at other places closeby we were not disappointed in staying here. It felt like home. Everything was beautifully decorated and very clean. The owners were great to work with. We will definitely be back!
