Such a relaxing weekend! We loved the huge yard and deck. Hung out in the hot tub and looked at the stars...you can see so many it's amazing! Had a good meal in town just a short drive away and walked the beach. Great hike out to Bass lake. Cozy bed with tons of natural light all through the space and a beautiful claw foot tub hand painted by a local artist. The owner, James, was helpful and easy to communicate with about our reservation and gave us some good suggestions for our stay. This is just what we needed!

My wife and I have stayed twice at this special cottage in Bolinas (our favorite part of NorCal coast). The property invites hanging out and soaking up the quiet, the ocean air. Evenings around the fire are star-filled. Hitting the outdoor shower after a romp on the beach invigorates and wakes all the senses. The light in the morning makes lingering over breakfast especially fun and everything works. Owner always seemed responsive and easy to work with.

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon 2 years ago (for the first time), and have been there for my birthday and our anniversary every year since then...we live in San Francisco and really love this place. My husband almost didn't want me to write a review since we want to keep this place a secret! James is great about responding via email, the price is right and the privacy is excellent. The outdoor shower, hot tub and views (sunrise, sunset, the stars, even the rainy sky) and serene atmosphere make you just quiet down and relax. Love the fire pit and the outdoor swing... and you can't even see that the cabin there from the outside, can't get much more private than that. (As for the composting toilet, what a way to go green!) You can walk down the street for Ocean views, beaches are a quick drive, downtown (Smiley's, Coast Cafe, General Store and Bolinas Peoples market) is great and the whole area (way too much to name but there is a lot of nature to see, Bass Lake/ Palonmarin Trail and Limantour Beach are among my favorite spots, but there are a few beaches that are very close if you don't feel like driving far) is what city folk need to relax. The worst part is leaving...the best part is returning...it's like you never left.

this really cute, tiny home is perfect for a weekend romantic getaway. I don't suggest bringing the kids, as there is little privacy. The amenities are good, clean, the hot tub is great, and the place is very private. Cooking must be planned as there is a microwave, toaster oven and hotplate. The only odd thing is the composting toilet.. very strange. The local towns are beautiful hippie-era haunts, with many surfers at the beaches. Local vists of the Pacific are wonderful, and wine country is 1 hour over the mountains. To the North are wonderful hiking trails, and nature walks. Worth the trip for a fun weekend.

Like many people these days, my wife and I put in 50+ hours a week at the office... we desperately needed a quick, rejuvenating getaway, which was also convenient on short notice and on a reasonable budget. I found this property online and contacted the owner. It was very easy working out the terms with the owner online, via email. The cottage is located in a quaint coastal town, approximately an hour and a half drive north of San Francisco. When we arrived, we were immediately taken away by the serene landscaping and exquisite architecture of this cabin (if you like the look and feel of natural wood, you will love this place as much as we did... a lot). We opted to leave the car behind and walk into the main part of town, which took us approximately 20 minutes. We enjoyed the small shops and the beach, which is adjacent to a beautiful lagoon and the pacific ocean. We spent most of our evenings in the hot tub, conveniently located on a spacious outdoor deck, overlooking the landscaped property and gazed at the stars . There is also a BBQ grill and outdoor fire pit. A huge plus to this property is that it is private and quiet... when there you hardly notice the outside world (which is exactly what we needed). The lack of cable TV might be a negative for some, but since we wanted to take a break from the "modern world," it suited us just fine (there is a flat panel TV with a DVD player, so you can bring your favorite movies if you desire). Though this is a nice cabin, it is still a cabin in the countryside, so be prepared to be without some modern conveniences (this is not the Ritz, nor did we want or expect it to be). I would highly recommend this little vacation spot for anyone wanting to getaway for a few days... a nice romantic retreat or a change of pace for a small family. We hope to visit again in the future (for now it's back to "the grind," be we'll day-dream of our little getaway). PS: We wish we would have brought our bicycles with.

The cottage is quaint with a nice size yard for grilling and hanging out. James, the owner, and Judy, his mother, are very nice. However the cottage was more rustic than we expected. There is a 'compost’ toilet, this was a huge surprise since it wasn't stated on the vrbo ad. The cottage was also not that clean. The towels had black stains (or dirt) and the tub liner was full of mold. Also, the grill outside was very dirty. We had to scrap off old food and clean it before using (this should of been done before our arrival). We also needed Internet service that weekend (which is advertised) and later James told us it was unavailable. Therefore, we had to shorten our stay. James quickly refunded our money for the 1 night without complaint. We appreciated his quick response to that. All is all, I would describe this cottage as a high-end camping vacation. Not a lot of frills, definitely needs a major cleaning (inside and out) and the replacement of detail items. If this is done, it's a quaint Bolinas getaway.
Owner response:Please look at all of the photos and all of the reviews. There is also a video . This cottage is clean and well kept. The internet was down at that time , we now have WIFI Thanks.
