Great House, Poor/Unresponsive Management
Great House, Poor/Unresponsive Management

Our group stayed over Superbowl Weekend 2013. We really enjoyed the very spacious house, the amenities it had to offer and the great location (right on the mountain and mere minutes from the slopes/restaurants/bars/stores). Our stay was excellent; our experience with owner/management communication was not. Shortly after our arrival we inspected the house and sent an email regarding any issues we could find. As the weekend went on and we came across other things - that we should have been notified of prior to arrival and that were impossible for a group unfamiliar with the house to notice right away - we were able to contact them only one more time and then not at all. A week after departure we were sent the damage report and were shocked to see that we were being charged for the pre-existing items we had emailed/spoke to them about, the items we tried to notify them about as the weekend progressed, and most importantly items that would normally be considered completely typical house usage (ex: towels, dishwasher and firewood). We were also charged for using the last of the available firewood despite the fact we were ensured a delivery of more was on the way (it never arrived). Our response to the damage report was disregarded and never addressed, with only a portion of the deposit being sent back. When we could get in touch with someone post-departure, we were never given a straight answer as to what was going on. In addition, when we asked for pictures as proof of the damage (which we were told existed), we were never provided any. We were not "rough" with the house in any way, it just seems like we were the first ones to be pinned for items that were previously damaged/already in the process of falling apart. Imagine staying at a hotel, repeatedly trying to reach management and then being charged for the amenities you used and the problems you encountered. Of course we used what we were provided with - we showered (and couldn't even wash the towels since the washer was not working properly), we cleaned our dishes and left a small final load running as we departed (instead of leaving a pile of dirty ones) and used the available wood for the living room fireplace. Once again, we thought the house was great - but could not see us renting it again based on such poor communication issues and the pettiness that we subsequently encountered. If you plan on staying here, be VERY thorough with your house inspection or ask to be provided with one.Owner response: We're glad you enjoyed your stay at the Racquetball House. Unfortunately, after 13 years of renting our house, it's inevitable we occasionally come across tenants who leave the house with incremental damages and disorder and it's unfortunate that we couldn't arrive at a final disposition to the property manager's inspection which suited you. We're comforted by our high return rate and wish you all the best at other homes in the future.

We had a great time at the racquetball house. The snow removal service worked very hard to keep the house usable and our group of 10 had a great time enjoying the house and the area when we weren't on the mountain - as we were lucky to be in town during a big snowstorm. The owners were very responsive and have communicated very well with us. This is the 9th year we have rented a house for a week for a ski vacation and this year went very smoothly in our first time at the racquetball house... We enjoyed the outdoor hot tub, the sauna and everything else the house had to offer. The driveway was a bit steep, but our 2wheel drive GMC terrain was able to stay in the side lot up the driveway a bit to make their time easier. My f350 diesel and a 4 wheel drive suv had no problem with the driveway right up to the house.Recommended for: Adventure seekers.

The Racquetball House was perfect. The place was clean and kept up. All expectations were met and everything stated on the website were accurate. It was located in a great area close to the mountain and the night life. The house accommodated a large group and everyone slept comfortably. The hot tube was clean and it was nice to see the hot tube cleaners come prior to our departure so you knew it was clean for the next person. One very important factor was Ted, Jason, and Greg were all very nice to work with and extremely honest and straightforward. The overall experience was exactly what we were looking for, especially over such a busy holiday as New Years! Thank you.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Bill, glad it all worked out! Hope you come back! Jason

My group of 12 really enjoyed our week at the racquetball house. There was more than enough space for everyone and the house was beautiful. The hot tub was big enough to fit most of us in at once and the r-ball court was a blast. Plus, it was a short 5 minute ride oer to snowshed lodge to hit the slopes. The owners were very courteous and made sure the house was fully ready for us. Overall a great experience.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
