Bedroom #3 - Queen sized Murphy bed with large oceanside window that makes you feel you are sleeping atop the ocean. Murphy bed allows room to convert to a sitting/viewing room during the day.
Living room has 2 sofa-beds, wood-buring fireplace, numerous comfortable chairs + 2 large picture windows facing the ocean and Cape Arago lighthouse.
Kitchen adjoins living room with bar counter as separation. Window above sink looks over lawn and ocean.
Covered entryway has 6 skylights and outdoor hot/cold shower for washing off sand. Entryway is ideal for entertaining.
Large front lawn is ideal for lawn games. Room for motor-home or boat parking + 2 car garage.
Located only 18 miles from world renowned Bandon Dunes Golf Resort. Shore Acres State Park, Sunset Bay State Park and Bastendorff County Park - all with beaches are within .5 to 2 miles of the home. Charleston is within 3 miles--working fishing village with lots of quaint shops and restaurants.

- Home is located just 18 miles from Bandon Dunes Golf Resort - play 18 in the morning and 18 in the afternoon! Home sits on a bluff directly above sandy surfing beach (Lighthouse Beach/Cape Arago Beach). Surfers wear wet-suits. Superb view of Cape Arago Lighthouse, large ships, fishing and pleasure boats, whale watching from the house, pelicans, sea lions, and more. One bedroom makes you feel that you are sleeping on the ocean itself. Beach is accessible by walking 0.5 miles down the road.
- Suitability
- No Pets Allowed: Pets can be accomodated ONLY if they stay outside. Please do not inquire if you want your pets to be inside. The yard is very large- suitable for frisbees and balls and games.There is a large covered entryway totally protected from the elements.
- Handicapped Accessible (may have limitations): There are 2 steps up to enter the home. The Master bedroom is on the main level with no steps inside to enter it.The doors are narrow. The 2nd and 3rd bedrooms both have 2 downsteps to enter each one.
- Wheelchair Accessible (may have limitations): Home will accommodate narrow wheelchairs. Two steps at entry way to home, and two down-steps to two of the bedrooms. Master bedroom is level with main area of house.
- Kid Friendly: Big yards in both the front and back will allow for games and sports (soccer, bocce ball, Frisbee, catch).
- Minimum Age Limit for Renters: Only those 21 and older may rent.
- Smoking Not Allowed: Owner is allergic to tobacco and extremely sensitive to odor. A $500 cleaning fee will be applied if violated.

Minimum stay: 3 nts during the summer; 2 nts during the winter

Year Purchased: 1996
My husband and I have lived in the Bay area for 16 years. We fell in love with this 3/4 acre property after returning from a trip to Greece in 1996. We started listing it as a vacation rental about 2 years ago after we sold our smaller main home in North Bend and built another larger home. Prior to that, we hosted large parties there and spent our entire summers, weekends, and holidays at the beach-house. Many birthdays with sleepovers happened as well as family reunions. It is just ideal for entertaining. We loved it so much, we did not want to sell it so making it a vacation rental gives other people the opportunity to enjoy it. The name ERATO refers to the Greek goddess of love poetry. For me as the owner, this is Eva's Retreat at the Ocean.
Why the Owner Chose Coos Bay
It was ideal. The view is so spectacular. My family likes to surf, surf kayak, have bonfires on the beach, go tidal pooling, watch ships, whales,sunsets and storms and this is where they do it.
The property has 2 yards-- both ideal for children to play safely or kick a ball around, tent, picnic or just run around.
