This property is beyond amazing. It was clean, comfortable and tranquil. We had to come to town on short notice for a funeral and the owner was very accommodating and helpful. We had several family memebers stop by during our stay and they all wanted to know how to rent it. It is within walking distance to several beaches and within a couple of miles of Charleston. I would strongly recommend this property.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for your kind review. I am glad to hear that the home was comforting to you and your family. Ocean waves can be very healing. Last minute rentals have often become surprising treats for my renters.

Secluded and peaceful, yet only a couple of miles from State Parks in one direction and historic Charleston in the other. The house has every amenity, with a beach/casual atmosphere.Sleep to the sound of the ocean's heartbeat. Watch migrating whales while sipping a breakfast Latte in the living room. Go surfing or explore tide pools at Sunset Bay. Check out the fishing fleet and the shops in Charleston or (a quick 20 minutes over winding Seven Devils Road) explore Bandon-by-the-Sea and its world-class golf resort Bandon Dunes. Like lighthouses? This house looks out toward Cape Arago Light and several others are in easy driving distance along the coast from Reedsport to Cape Blanco. And, by the way, the owners are awesome folks, too!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks so much for such a great review. I know how wonderful it is and am so glad to have others feel as I do. There really is nothing quite so fantastic as relaxing to ocean waves. They always calm my spirit.

From the moment we turned into the driveway and got our first look at Eva’s Retreat we knew these were wonderful accommodations. The yard was well maintained and the porch clean and welcoming. Then we opened the front door and stepped into the foyer. Looking straight ahead, past the dinning area and through windows of the 3rd bedroom was the Pacific Ocean. A beautiful sight. Through the foyer and into the great room (living and dining rooms) they have set up a nook where you can see Arago lighthouse, the rock formations and the Pacific Ocean through corner picture windows. There is also a fenced yard out back. The house was clean and the kitchen pretty well equipped. We had friends over for dinner and we were able to set a nice table and prepare a wonderful meal with what was available. The beds in the three bedrooms were comfortable to sleep on; we did not use any of the sofa beds. The best part was the location. On our morning walks we went to beaches (Bastendorff & Sunset) not to mention hiking the trails in the state parks. When we returned we had breakfast and then headed off to explore Charleston, North Bend, Coos Bay, Bandon and places between. I would recommend Eva’s Retreat to anyone looking for a clean comfortable home to retire too after a day of visiting Oregon’s beautiful south coast.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We enjoyed our stay immensely at this property! It was very clean, well-stocked, near to several local attractions, and provided the most beautiful views that we have ever seen! We felt like we had our own private beach! Our family made lots of precious memories, and we would definitely stay here again in the future. The owner was extremely friendly and very accommodating! Wonderful experience!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We just stayed here in October for the second time. It is a stone's throw from beaches, crabbing, clamming and boating. The views of the lighthouse at sunset are simply spectacular! I have rented many homes through VRBO and Eva is one of the most accommodating owners I have dealt with. The beds are comfortable, and the kitchen is well equipped. Now that I am back home I am so missing the sound of the ocean at night. We are already planning on staying here again next summer. I feel very at home here, and I'm sure you will too.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you so much for your great comments. I love the home and so much want renters to love it, too. I travel a lot so I rarely get to meet my renters. Since you are coming back for a third time, I hope I get to meet you next year.

We had a great time at your place, and the views were wonderful! We crabbed everyday, and actually limited out daily, which is a first for us. We usually rent a home in Waldport, however we plan on returning to Coos bay again next year. The Master bedroom was amazing, and the bed..oh so comfy. The only small challenge for us was pulling the boat in and out daily, as we had to go onto the lawn a little. Thank you again for letting us share your magnificant home, we loved it!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: I am so glad you enjoyed your stay. I am sure the crab tasted great. Going slightly onto the lawn to turn the boat around is not a problem for me. Thank you for your kind review.

Just spent a week there with my family from So. California. Was so clean, relaxing and a great place for kids! Where else could you stay with an 18 month old child and have everything you needed? Very impressive. The only issue we faced was that the sliding glass door to deck from the master bedroom was extremely hard to open and close. Hopefully that will get fixed when the new deck is completed! Thanks again for a wonderful week. Hopefully we can experience your hospitality again!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We recently stayed at this wonderful home a weekend ago. It was fabulous. Comfortable with plenty of room. The fireplace was great to have on a chilly night. Beds were great and the view was amazing. The kitchen was very well stocked with cooking gear and plates with plenty of room for a few cooks at a time. This was the best home we have stayed at yet and we will for sure use it again. Thanks for sharing your home with us!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you so much. I love this home and feel blessed to be able to share it with renters.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1996
About the owner: My husband and I have lived in the Bay area for 20 years. We fell in love with this 3/4 acre property after returning from a trip to Greece in 1996. We started listing it as a vacation rental almost 7 years ago after we sold our smaller main home in North Bend and built another larger home. Prior to that, we hosted large parties there and spent our entire summers, weekends, and holidays at the beach-house. Many birthdays with sleepovers happened as well as family reunions. It is just ideal for entertaining. We loved it so much, we did not want to sell it so making it a vacation rental gives other people the opportunity to enjoy it. The name ERATO refers to the Greek goddess of love poetry. For me as the owner, this is Eva's Retreat at the Ocean.
Why the Owner Chose Coos Bay:
It was ideal. The view is so spectacular. My family likes to surf, surf kayak, have bonfires on the beach, go tidal pooling, watch ships, whales, sunsets and storms and this is where they do it.
The property has 2 yards-- both ideal for children to play safely or kick a ball around, tent, picnic or just run around.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Cozy wood fireplace while watching storms or a gorgeous sunset with Cape Arago Lighthouse in the background.
Walks on the secluded Lighthouse beach. Walking distance to Sunset and Bastendorff beaches.
Numerous hiking trails, the marine estuary, Charleston shops/restaurants/fish sellers, docks, fishing charters and clamming are within a mile or two.
The covered entryway with skylights is superb for entertaining.
