The Serenity Cabin

Step back in to time when you visit this genuine log cabin home. Marvel at the beautiful architecture of the hand-crafted logs, and go on a journey as you explore each room of this mountain getaway. Much love has gone into the decorating and furnishing of the cabin to give you that "far away from everything" feeling. (Yet, with all the modern conveniences we can’t live without!)

* Your journey through the cabin will start at the front door with a hand-painted stained glass tribute to Virginia’s state bird and flower (do you know what they are?), and includes antique farm equipment, a hand made checker board, and even a miniature log cabin within the cabin (can you find it?).
* Some favorite activities of cabin guests are sitting on the front porch enjoying the view in fair weather, and settling down in front of a fire when it’s a little chilly out.
* However, the cabin is far from the only thing to see! On the grounds is a small chapel, "Casa de Paz" or "House of Peace". The chapel preceded the building of the resort, and contains the fully restored murals originally painted by Miss Flora Beatrice Farnham. The "House of Peace" is justly named as it sits quietly above a small pond in the midst of the grandeur of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
* There are many other fun, historical things to see right on the resort grounds. And don’t forget the kids! There is a carousel, a pizza parlor with live music on weekend nights, and an ice cream parlor complete with indoor swings on which to rest and enjoy your ice cream.
* Mabry Mill, one of America’s most photographed spots, is only one mile up the parkway. The area is also home to wineries such as the renowned Chateau Morrisette and Villa Appalachia. Nearby Olde Mill Golf Course was rated four and one-half stars by Golf Digest. Not to mention all that the Blue Ridge mountains have to offer in hiking, boating and sheer breathtaking beauty.

  • My husband and I rented this beautiful cabin as a Christmas retreat. We felt so at home, we didn't want to leave. "Serenity Cabin" was more like a home than a typical rental cabin. The furnishings, linens, kitchen and quirky/cool decorative touches were all top notch. I should also mention the view (wow), the lovely gas fireplace, or the peaceful surroundings; they were all a bonus! We look forward to returning!

  • This beautifully decorated cabin is near The Crooked Road, a mountain music history attraction. We visited Mabry Mills, Galax, Floyd, Stuart, and Woolwine all from our centrally located cabin and found wonderful music and friendly local folks everywhere we went. Our arrangements were made with Carla, who was very kind-the transactions were more friendly than business-like. Greatly enjoyed our stay in Meadows of Dan!

  • What a wonderful cabin! It is close to the Blue Ridge Parkway and the quaint, rural village of Meadows of Dan. The cabin and everything in it looks new. The furniture is very nice, the kitchen well-equipped, and you won't believe the decorative accessories.
