The Cape Island Creek House rates are at least half the cost of comparable properties which are closer to the beach. It also offers the advantage of being a place where one can retreat from the bustle of the town.
It is situated 1.5 miles from the Cape May Beaches in a neighborhood where the houses are on large lots and there are many trees. Our property's size, plantings and natural beauty gives it a park like feel. It is steps away from a forever wild preserve that encompasses Cape Island Creek and is conducive to birdwatching. One can take a path in this preserve as a back scenic route to walk or bike to town which is about one mile away.
The house is spacious and newly furnished. On the upper level is the kitchen which has sliding glass doors to a large porch where you can dine al fresco. The kitchen dining area flows into the 15-foot by 18-foot living room. There is also a full bath and two bedrooms each with queen sized beds on this level.
On the lower level of the house there is another full bath, two bedrooms one with queen-sized bed, one with two single beds (daybed), a recreation room with two futon couchs that open to full sized beds and a second fully equipped but small kitchen. Out of this kitchen door is a large screened in porch. The washer/ dryer is in the utility room.
Our family has been vacationing and renting houses for 20 years in Cape May. This house is the culmination of a long dream to own and become even more involved in the Cape May community. Because we have rented for so many years we know the pitfalls of an ill-equipped and/or poorly-designed house and have worked at providing our renters with a very welcoming home.
This house has a good collection of pots and pans, a nice set of dishes, and all the kitchen utensils and appliances one would need. It has pleasing furniture. It has games and toys for children and adults. It has interesting books and magazines. It has a collection of CD's and videos. It has beach chairs and beach toys. It has good quality blankets and pillows. It is a well-loved and tastefully furnished home. For its price, it is a great value for extended families and groups of friends wanting room to stretch out and chill out after a long day at the beach.
Cape May is a wonderful year-round destination for the weekend, week, or longer. We have loved it more with each passing year and we are confident you will too.
Please remember that people in the know recommend September and October as the best months to visit Cape May. The water is still warm enough for swimming but the crowds are gone.
