Keywords: House
House is located in the picturesque setting of Wears Valley. It is at the end of a dead end road in an area of rental and permanent homes called Dogwood Farms. There are three large bedrooms, each with a queen-sized bed and a private bath. Each bedroom is located on a different floor for complete privacy. Off the loft bedroom is a smaller bedroom with twin beds, which is ideal for children.
The main floor has a great room with a stacked stone gas fireplace, a dining area which seats six, and a bar which seats three. Outside is a covered wrap-around porch with a six person hot tub. The loft bedroom has a private porch and the downstairs has a bedroom, laundry room ironing board and iron, recreation room with pool table and a deck.
With 2400 square feet, there is more than enough room for a family to be comfortable. Three couples can share the house and never get in each other's space. The large porch with swing and rockers accommodates lots of rest and relaxation, yet if shopping, hiking, a trip to Dollywood, or Gatlinburg is in your plans, it is all within a few minutes of our house. We are sorry, pets must stay home.

Mountain Shadows - Smoky Mountain Getaway
Year Purchased: 1997
Why the Owner Chose Wears Valley
The location of Mountain Shadows is perfect for us. It is at the end of a dead-end road. There is no traffic. The development is close to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg but it is not required that you go through either town to get to the national park. We love this about our home due to the excess amount of traffic that comes through Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge at certain times of the year. One can actually go the opposite way and get to the national park and Cades Cove (my favorite place to visit)
The Unique Benefits at this House
Quiet and peaceful. Very homey.
The route to Dollywood from our house is down Little Cove Road, Mill Creek Road and Conner Heights Road to The Parkway and turn to the Left two traffic lights then Right onto Middle Creek Road
If you go to Dollywood after 3 PM, you get the next day's admission FREE.
Go right out of Dogwood Farms and take Little Cove Rd. > Mill Creek Rd. > Conner Heights Rd. to the Parkway (Hwy 321) You can go into Gatlinburg or get on the Bypass around Gatlinburg to go to the Nat
On the right on the Parkway before the turn off to Dollywood. Recommended activity by many of our guests.
Newest shopping area. Walmart is across the street. There is a shortcut to Five Oaks and I will send you a map following New Era Road that helps you avoid traffic on the Parkway.
Restaurant and gift shop. Some great apple products to take home, etc.
Indoor pool = great place to take the kids when it is raining if you have already been to Ripley's Aquarium in Gatlinburg.
Great place to get a homemade breakfast with biscuits and gravy made from scratch. Highly recommended and very close to Mountain Shadows
This is the closest place to go in the National Park and have a picnic and play in the stream. We love is here. Go left on Hwy 321 and left on Lyon Springs Road on the other side on the Valley. Lyo
Called this because of the "Y" in the road. I have been going here since I was a little girl to swim and tube in the creek! Lots of fun.
7 miles from the "Y". Keep an eye out for bears along this highway. We hear that there are mommas and cubs around. When you drive through the Cove, you will see deer, bear, beaver and fox to name a

My husband and I had our house built with the hope of living in it at retirement. I am a nurse and my husband is retired from any engineering firm as a scheduler. We love the mountains and our home because it is so quiet and peaceful. Having worked in a service occupation that takes so much personal contact and stress, it is essential to be able to "get away from it all" Mountain Shadows is certainly that place. We took special care in the planning of the house to include private space for family and friends to visit. We have always said that we will see our family and friends a lot more when we retire to the mountains.

Jack and Gail, thank you so much for allowing us to stay at your cabin. It was more than we could have hoped for. It was so quiet there. The rockers and swing on the porch were my favorite places. We made daily trips to Cades Cove. We would highly recommend eating at the Wood-Grill Buffett in Pigeon Forge. As the oldest member of our family said," They had the best blackberry cobbler she ever put her mouth around." The rest of the food was great too. Again, thanks for letting us stay at Mountain Shadows.

We spent the week of July 4, 2010 at this wonderful cabin. There was something to do for all of us--the grandparents, the parents, and the 4 grands. We enjoyed all three floors of the house which afforded everyone a private space. While we did go to the free, fabulous Pigeon Forge Celebration--Diamond Rio and soon to be other famous groups, and we visited Dollywood one day--the touristy attractions were not the focus of our vacation. The cabin was immaculately clean, beautifully decorated, and equipped with everything we needed and then some. Amazingly the grandchildren got along very well--very few disagreements. We will return to Mountain Shadows again, and again.

We enjoyed our stay at this wonderful and beautiful cabin. Lots of room to relax and have fun. There were turkeys in the yard everyday as well as a very lively chipmunk. The neighborhood raccoons even stopped by for a few visits. Thanks for sharing your home with us.
