We just returned from a fabulous month on Bateau De Reve., We were thrilled to have loved the houseboat and location so much. It was so comfortable, with all the amenities one can imagine. The owners thought of everything. It is bright, cheery and very clean. We enjoy the outdoors so having bicycles a canoe and paddle boat to use was so much fun for us. I would recommend this to anyone looking for beautiful surroundings and a wonderfully unique experience. You will not be disappointed.
Owner response:Dear Wendy, hanks so much for your kind review. I look forward to your next monthly stay. Michele

Words can't describe how wonderful this houseboat was for our month stay. We loved the uniqueness of the experience. The decor was warm, inviting, and whimsical. The beds were very, very comfortable. And, of course the view from the living area, float, and upper deck. We could see the Oakland-Bay Bridge and the tip of San Francisco! We spent hours just soaking up the warm sun on the float - and that was in December. The restaurants and small shops near the docks provided easy access to dinners when we didn't want to cook. I would recommend this houseboat to anyone looking for a unique and pleasurable experience.
Owner response:Dear Vicki, Thanks so much for your kind review. I am grateful that I was there to meet you and your lovely friends. Thank you also for leaving the houseboat so tiday when you left. I will await your next monthly visit. Warm regards, Michele

I was delighted that this lovely houseboat lived up to its advertising. Just spent a wonderful week here. It was charming, bright, cheerful and clean with a pretty view and many amenities including a gourmet kitchen, sunny porch, comfortable bedrooms. It was a great base in which to visit the San Francisco area as well as a peaceful refuge for tired travelers. We looked forward to returning each night and spent several lovely mornings enjoying the sun on the floating deck. Will be recommending this place to others heading west. Thanks Michele and Gabor.
Owner response:Dear Eileen, Thanks so much for the fabulous review. I am happy that you chose our special paradise for your stay and hope that you come back again soon. Michele

This Houseboat is truly a home, very comfortable and clean, with great amenities. The view is spectacular, watching the fog creep in over the hills and a wonderful sunset every night. The location is better than oceanfront, more interesting to sit on the deck and look at the surrounding houseboats and watercraft. Helpful hint: The Jacuzzi takes a LONG time to heat up so plan ahead.
Owner response:Dear Robert, Thanks for the kind review. We enjoyed having you and your family as guests. I am so sorry that the hot tub took a long time to heat up. The guests before you were not supposed to turn it off! You probably saw the sign saying "Please do not turn off hot tub". Again, I apologize for that. It is usually war all of the time. Please come back again soon. Cheers, Michele

We couldn't have enjoyed ourselves more. One of my sons really appreciated the canoe, paddle boat, and bicycle (not all at the same time). We showed off the houseboat to various family members in the area that we were visiting and they were all envious of our great accommodations. We prepared several meals, mostly breakfasts, and had everything we needed at hand. My other son and his fiance used the hot tub almost every night. It was a great experience and we'll certainly consider it the best option in future visits.
Owner response:Oh Ken, Thank you for your kind review. You were an ideal guest and I hope you bring your family back again. I am especially happy that your son loved the boats that we provide at no extra charge. Next time we will have 2 kayaks also. Warm regards, Michele

We had such a great time staying on this houseboat for 6 nights in July. I wish it could've been longer. There is so much to do and see in the surrounding area but we all just loved being right there on Liberty Dock! (there were 6 of us: we had our two grown daughters and their boyfriends with us) The boats and bikes were so much fun to use, great grocery store right down the street, wonderful dining (we ate at Fish and Fred's twice each), and beautiful scenery in every direction. The residence has everything you could need. We enjoyed Muir Woods, hiking in Mt. Tamalpais Park, Napa & Sonoma, took the bus into San Fran....so much variety. I have already recommended this rental to many friends. I hope we have the chance to return. Thank you Michele. It is truly a special place.
Owner response:Dear Nancy, Thanks for staying with us. We enjoyed having your family as guests. Michele

My familly and I stayed for a full three weeks in July and had a lovely time on this floating houseboat. The location of Bateau de Reve is excellent: so close to the amenities in Sausalito and minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge. The accommodation was extremely comfortable with everything we needed for our stay. We were there over the 4th July weekend and loved being able to see the fireworks display from the houseboat. One of the highlights for me of this rental was the fantastic views from all sides. The water was ever-changing. We would love to visit again.
Owner response:Thank you so much for your kind review. We enjoyed having your family and hope that you will decide to come back again soon. Michele

The pictures and descriptions don't do this charming place justice. Everything was perfect and the house boat was well stocked with everything we could need. The decor was so charming and welcoming. It really did feel like a little home away from home. The owners checked in with us, by phone, upon arrival, to make sure that everything was to our satisfaction. They left suggestions and information about local attractions and restaurants that were spot on! This was a great week for our family with plenty of "space" when needed and lots to do. I wouldn't recommend it for smaller children or anyone with mobility issues since there are lots of stairs and a bit of a walk from the parking lot (the bonus is you are far out on the dock with lots of quiet and beautiful views.) Couldn't have been happier with lovely houseboat. What a treat!!

6 of us stayed here for 8 nights in May/June 2011 and had a delightful stay. Our group was me (47), my mom (70), sister (50) and niece (20), and my niece's friend (20) and her mom (60-something). I think ages are important to list because the rental suited all of us. The surrounding houseboat community is fascinating, unique, relaxing, beautiful and a perfect location from which to visit the city, the coast and wine country. Every time we walked the dock we seemed to see something we had missed the previous XX times - really fun. The houseboat was everything we expected based on what we knew through VRBO, but think it still exceeded expectations. So bright and very roomy despite 7 levels ... great views from inside and out. You can tell the owners spend time here and are thoughtful to the amenities of travelers - flashlights by the door, helpful notes on switches, doors, etc. and everything you could want in the kitchen although we used very little. The VRBO listing is very accurate ... if it sounds and looks good to you based on the listing you won't be disappointed. During our stay we had two electrical outages in one bedroom and a bathroom (the one that was used by the younger girls so perhaps a few more devices plugged in at one time), which I normally would not include in a review but want to illustrate the level of service. The first time it happened right before we were leaving for the day - a message to the House Manager and it was fixed before we got home; also had a call from the owners to double-check everything was OK. The second time we received a call back from the House Manager within an hour and we were able to fix it ourselves (a fuse switch that just took a little coaxing to reset). Had the weather been a little warmer, all the outdoor space and amenities would have definitely been more heavily used. We didn't really expect warm weather but it was cooler than expected during our stay. Discovered late in our stay that adding more water to the hot tub would have aided in stabilizing the temperature, but still enjoyed it three nights. Sausalito is charming. We fully intended to take a day to explore, but ended up being there in the a.m. before heading out for the day and at night upon our return. I'm sure there are bad restaurants in town, but we didn't come across one. My family members were especially thrilled to find a Lappert's Ice Cream, which we've frequented often during trips to Kauai. Great place, great stay, great memories!
Owner response:Dear Pam, I just read this review and I thank you very much. I am so happy that you were pleased. I do think that the electric problem was that too many hairdryers at once. The hot tub takes an awful lot of electricity. I hope you all come back again soon! Next time I will leave more wine to make up for the elect issue! Cheers...Michele

My husband and I fell in love with Bateau de Reve from the minute we stepped on board and had tears in our eyes when we left. What a marvelous way to celebrate turning 60! This magical experience far exceeded any expectations we might have had. We loved the French feel, the whimsical artwork, the quality of your floating home. We look forward to returning once again for another adventure!
Owner response:You guys are so sweet. I am happy that you loved Bateau even though the weather was not very good at that time. I hope you come back to enjoy her when the sun streams through the windows. I spent my 50th birthday on Bateau so i know how fun it can be. Please come back again soon and also try our smaller houseboat "Sidari" some time. Michele

Fabulous stay in this stunning home for our 'girl friend get-away'! We celebrated our dear friends birthday in this beautiful houseboat ... cooking, dancing, laughing ... it is the perfect setting for a gathering. Saturday we were out the door to hike the Sausalito hills to Tennessee Valley Beach ... the location is ideal for any outdoor activites ... hiking, kayaking, sailing, biking. Your houseboat is everything we could have wished for ... and, much, much, more! In addition to being beautifully decorated, it has an incredibly warm feeling ... and we all slept beautifully! Thank you for sharing your magnificent 'slice of heaven' with us. We look forward to future stays in your lovely home!
Owner response:Suzanne, You are so kind! We loved having you stay in our beloved houseboat. I liked helping you plan your cooking and making sure that your friend would have the best birthday ever! It is so nice to share Bateau De Reve with guests like you and the other women. I am also glad that you took advantage of the water sports we offer and the hiking trails in Marin...Please come back again and maybe try our other houseboat "Sidari" for a smaller group. Michele

We recently stayed on this property, myself, husband and 14 year old son. We travel a lot and wanted to try something different. Had a wonderful experience and must say this property was very clean, and comfortable. The bedrooms/beds were the best! State of the art appliances and Funky, Interesting art throughout! My son loved the Hot Tub on the upper deck. The owner was very accomodating and helpful, enjoyed the bottle of wine that greeted us as we came in. The views were great all over the house, and upon exploring it I must say much better than the pictures shown, Downtown was very close and reachable by the bikes the owner provides. Many nearby restaurants and great specialty market, MollieStones nearby. Once there, realized all we needed to pack to take with us was our clothes. Everything on the house boat was provided for us and made us feel at home. I highly recommend this property for an enjoyable getaway
Owner response:Dear Rene, Thank you so much for the kind review. you are a sweetheart and i would love to have you back as guests again soon. I am happy that your son enjoyed the hot tub. We love it when we are in town. We also just bouht the new deck furniture! Michele

I have planned and participated in dozens of girls-weekend-get-aways, and this one was absolutely one of my favorite locations. The houseboat exceeded my expectations. We truly felt like we were in another country, yet we only live an hour away. The ambiance of the houseboat accentuated the feeling with its European influence and bold, beautiful colors. It was exactly as represented by the website photos and was immaculate. Being able to immerse ourselves in Sausalito for four days was wonderful. The first day we hiked in Muir Woods and went for an early dinner at the Sea Horse Restaurant on the wharf before boarding the houseboat. We spent several hours exploring the boat and watched the most beautiful sunset. The next day we drove to Point Reyes and soaked in the sun, stopping at the Olema Inn for lunch along the way. It was delightful. After the beach, we strolled the shops in Point Reyes Station before heading back to Sausalito for dinner at Scoma's; never a disappointment. On the third day, we had an early lunch at Poggio. It was wonderful and greatly contributed to our other-country experience. The rest of the afternoon was spent shopping and browsing the stores in Sausalito followed by dinner at The Spinnaker; while not my favorite, the location provided a fantastic view of San Francisco as the sun was setting, and I would try it again for lunch. I drove home and felt more relaxed than I have ever felt. I contribute it to the ever so slight rocking motion of the houseboat, although, we couldn't feel it unless we sat still and watched the horizon. My favorite moment was waking up the first morning to find a sea otter swimming past my window. Amazing, and I'm going back! Thank you, Michelle, for a weekend I won't soon forget.
Owner response:Thanks girls! I am so happy that you are returning..and so soon! I am looking forward to seeing you! Michele

We had a family gathering and everyone (ages 12 to 74) agreed it was a great adventure to live in the houseboat community for the week. This houseboat is beautiful and spacious. Though it was Northern California winter and chilly outside (ice on the docks in the morning!), the houseboat was warm and cozy and bright. We were comfortable even when the winds really kicked up and we could feel the rocking. We cooked for a large group and the kitchen was up to the task, with great facilities and nice updates. We did enjoy boating with the pedal boat and canoe. A lovely week in a beautiful place. Thank you.

My wife, two of her girl friends, and I stayed on the "floating home" for a weeks vacation. We loved it!! The layout and accomodations lent themselves to a fun adventure yet provided us all with adequate privacy to insure "our own space". The location could not have been better; could be downtown San Francisco or to the wine country in just minutes. Everything was as advertised. All in all, it was a wonderful vacation home. We highly recommend this unique hide-away.

This houseboat was perfect for the 2 of us celebrating our 25 Anniversary. We're from Chicago and wanted something in Northern California that was unique and different, but still offered us water, city and ease to various destinations. We sure got unique! The ebb and flow of the tides was a wonderous act of nature to follow and watch. The various birds and kayakers and boaters made for beautiful scenery on the bay. The houseboat was in a great location, but be prepared for LOTS of walking, which was good to help burn off calories from delicious meals in SF and Sausalito. Michele was wonderful in responding to information and answering questions about her home. The decor was fun and whimsical. It was clean and well kept. We wouldn't change a thing and loved the wonderous experience we had staying here! It was home away from home with ample space to spread out. We went into San Francisco 3 days in a row...highly recommend the de Young fine arts musuem, The Academy of the Sciences and the Japanese Tea Garden, all in Golden Gate Park and walking distance to one another. The Haight and night tour of Alcatraz memorable and interesting. A MUST see is Beach Blanket Babylon at Club Fugazi - hysterical with outrageously fabulous costumes! Fishmerman's Wharf, Pier 39 and Nob Hill, China Town and just driving around the steepest streets are a riot. Walking them is a big of a challenge! LOL Places to eat in SF are North Beach Restaurant, Nob Hill Cafe, and Schmidt's for their Apple Strudel and The Slanted Door for their Papaya Salad! In Tiberon, a darling community about 17 mi. from Sausalito I strongly recommend eating lunch on the DECK at Sam's Cafe!!! Good food with a killer view! In Sausalito we liked Scoma's for dinner and Horizon's for lunch on the deck! The No Name Bar which literallly only has "BAR" as their sign is unique for a drink with fabulously friendly owners. The Buckeye Roadhouse in Mill Valley, next town over from Sausalito was terrific. ABSOLUTELY go to Muir Woods and Muir Beach! Go north to wine country and visit V. Suitti in St. Helena - quaint, friendly place for a lunch outdoors and good (non snobby) wine tasting. Shopping is wonderful everywhere! We had to pack and ship our goodies back home via FedEX. We would rent again if the opportunity presents itself. I highly recommend this adorable houseboat and unique expereince.

We are a couple who love to travel and just spent five days staying on your houseboat with our daughter and son-in-law. We are quite selective and particular in our choices of rentals and this property will please even the most discriminating tenant. Kitchen is well stocked. The entire house was immaculate! Wonderful towels/linens....the beds are absolutely fabulous........tempurpedic mattress..... and I have not slept so good in months! The location lends itself to shopping, dining and exploring both Sausalito and the San Francisco area quite easily. The restaurants are fabulous! You are only a short drive to just about anywhere you choose to go. The owners are wonderul and very accommodating. GIven the choice between a hotel room and staying on a houseboat, treat yourself and reserve this little slice of paradise. You won't be disappointed! Hi Michele: We enjoyed your houseboat so much. The accommodations were perfect, so charming. Jack was really great, we loved visiting with him. It's a great houseboat. Our friends from Sausalito were amazed. Thanks for a great memory. I hope we can return next year and stay a little longer. You know you have had a great vacation when it doesn't seem like you have enough time to enjoy all of the houseboat/Sausalito/Bay Area experience. In addition to our excellent stay, I would like to thank you for your professional rental management. I have rental property in Destin and Pensacola Beach Florida. I know some of the negative aspects of weekly rentals. Working with you was a pleasure. The ease of reservations, deposit and payment were perfect. I really appreciated your quick response to my emails. As a first time Houseboat renter I would rate our vacation an A plus. The darling furnishings, well equipped kitchen, our luxurious master bedroom, the peace and tranquility, what a great find. Thank you Michele, Colleen Reppert

Our favorite thing about spending a week in Sausalito and seeing the sights of San Francisco was coming home every evening to the houseboat and waking up there each morning. It really is a beautifully decorated floating house. I loved looking out at the view, watching the light change on the water and seeing the fog drift in over the hills. Our kids, ages 10 and 13, were fascinated by the bright decor. They loved their rooms and had a great time on the pedal boat. I can't think of another time when we enjoyed staying "home" so much. It was everything the listing described and more.

Our family was looking for someplace quite unique to stay on our trip to San Fran in May. Our family was too big for one hotel room and we wanted something much for fun that the usual places. We were so fortunate to find Michele and Gabor's home in Sausalito. The house boat is truly a home and we so much enjoyed coming back each day to relax and enjoy each other. The amenities were fantastic, the decorating beautiful, the neighbors very friendly. We enjoyed sitting out in the evenings facing the hills, talking to each other and savoring our favorite drinks. My wife and I and our 3 children (all in their 20s) enjoyed playing games and listening to music that Michele left for us. I had some of the best night's sleep on the fantastic master bed with the very gentle movement of the house on the water. What fun it was to watch the house boats with the ever moving tides. We took day trips to the city, went north to wine country, headed a bit west to the ocean and enjoyed the town of Sausalito. We were able to do so much exploring and yet come back to a very cozy environment. I enjoyed how well kept up the house boat was, the extra amenities that Michele left for us and the great pictures that gave us a glimpse into our hosts adventurous lives. What a unique experience that we will be talking about the rest of our lives. THANK YOU!
Owner response:Dear Jim and Joan, What a happy Holiday surprise to hear from you! I am thrilled that you liked our houseboat so much. I do hope you come back again soon with your whole family. Happy Holidays...Michele

Everywhere you looked there was fun, interesting art work and furnishings. The whole experience was so relaxing, sitting on the decks, taking day trips and soaking in the hot tub. Will do this again, couldn't have been a better vacation!

Had a 'girls weekend' getaway. After all the rain we'd been getting we were lucky enough to have a beautiful sunny, warm stay in Sausalito. The houseboat was clean and comfortable - 5 picky women and we were all happy. It was one of the most well-stocked homes I've stayed in. Nice, quiet location and the dock. Loved walking along the dock and visiting with the neighbors and their dogs & cats. Shops and restaurants are abundant - we spent one whole day walking and shopping.

My family gathered on the houseboat for the holidays. It was all that we had hoped for. I loved the full kitchen as we all love to cook during our stays together. The houseboat has a multi-level floor plan, allowing for us to feel as though we had sufficient space for privacy. Great stay--thank you.
Owner response:Thank you Diane...I am so happy that you could have a happy holiday on The Bateau De Reve!

We never even knew anyone that stayed on a floating home before, but stumbled on Bateau de Reve and it was a hoot! Five family members from a couple of cities wanted an early Christmas weekend in Sausalito, but not a hotel; this was the perfect solution. Very modern decor, but "homey" and comfortable. What hotel has a peddleboat, canoe and SF bay at the back door? A weekend is not enough to absorb the eclectic, eccentric artwork inside. The owners were very accommodating. Plans to eat out were scrapped because it was more fun to eat in and be caroled by Santa's kayak light brigade at the back porch. We'll be back.
Owner response:Thank you! I am so glad that you were able to see the kayaking Caroliers. We have kayaking trick or treaters on Halloween also!

My husband and I stayed on the houseboat with 2 other couples and we LOVE it. The kitchen was very well equiped as well the bathrooms. The views are amazing. We would highly recommend staying here. Close to San Fran, but you will feel like you are miles away from everything.
Owner response:Thank you Shari for the comment and also the card and lovely bottle of wine that you left for us! Please come back again...

We had a terrific time in this very comfortable home. It would be hard to find a place better suited to what we were looking for. After a busy day in SF, the Wine Country, Muir Woods, it was a perfect place to relax and wind down. Our party consisted of my wife and me, our 2 mid-20's sons and their signicant others and we found the location to be convenient but away from the crowds. The girls went out in the kayak and paddleboat and had a fun time. The owners were easy to work with and after a minor glich, they worked it out immediately. We would certainly return to this home and will recommend it to our friends.

Houseboat was not up to standards of pictures and description. Poor maintenence .Required several additional hours of cleanup before we could move in. Washing machine leaking water, had to be repaired we could not do laundry. Would not recommend . Sausalito was wonderful. Great restaurants Angelinas,Scomas, Horizon.
Owner response:Houseboats are not for everyone. Staying on one is an adventure. The several hours of cleanup that these guests are referring to is seagull droppings on the outside decks which are unavildable on a houseboat. Yes, the washing machine did break due to no fault of mine but it was fixed and works perfectly now. The photos were taken by a professional and exactly what you see is what you will get. Our Houseboat is whimsical, charming warm and beautiful but...if you are expecting The Ritz Carlton as I guess these guests were...., that it is not. It is in tip top shape for our next guests...

Absolutely wonderful property. Unique, beautiful, and very comfortable. This house has everything you need for a great vacation. This was our 1st experience with renting floating home and we had a fantastic time. Everyone enjoyed playing on the boats and riding the bikes that were supplied, as well as spending time on the hottub on the roof. It was an easy drive into San Francisco and right near Muir Woods.
Owner response:Thank you so much for your kindness. We really do like happy renters!

Bateau de Reve is a wonderful houseboat to stay on! The kayak was used continuously as it was great fun! We took pics of seals and other wildlife in the area. Very quiet and peaceful, especially the view from the hot tub! Would recommend this rental to anyone, anytime. The cost was VERY reasonable when you compare the accomadations and ammenities to other rentals available.

We had a great stay with a family of 5.....the location is fantastic with excellent views as the house boat sits near the end of the docks. While some of the pictures on the web site are a little dated the house was clean, tidy and had everything we needed for a fun vacation even in the wet weather we experienced! The owners were fun, friendly and very helpful and came immediately to do a very minor repair. The neighbors were friendly and welcoming and seemed a fun lot. I would recommend this house boat for a unique holiday experience!

Same town, but a world away. I felt like I was in a dream! The views, the kayaking, the kitchen! This was the most relaxing floating home I have ever been on. The sounds are soothing and the water is calm. I could sit on the deck for hours drinking coffee and watching life, and the birds, go by. I highly recommend it!
