The Round House was absolutely great! The property listing was very accurate even to the small details, for instance, the grill & bikes availability. The location was on the north end of the island in a quiet neighborhood. The sunsets were lovely from the upper deck. The property was well maintained both inside & outside. Irene, one of owners, was most helpful in every way possible. Without reservation, I would highly recommend the Round House to friends & family. One of the highlights of the trip was a day trip to Cayo Costa via the Tropic Star ferry, a short distance from the Round House.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks so much! Maybe we'll visit your island someday:)

The Round House looked lovely in the listing but it was even better in person. There are so many thoughtful touches (such as the Band-aids in the medicine cabinet, the bikes in the storage area, the Winn Dixie discount card on the key ring) that make this place feel like staying in a friend's home, not a rental. I can't say enough good things about the owners. We were told we were welcome to call with any questions... "even on Christmas Day." We didn't but we knew they meant it! We got our security deposit refund very promptly. The house was immaculate. They allow you to rent the golf cart and other items. They take pride in the place and it shows. This may sound silly but I was impressed that they made sure there was toilet paper in each bathroom before our arrival. How nice is that? They just ask that you replace it. We did and left extra for the next person. Taking out the kayak allowed us to see osprey chasing off an eagle. We rented the boat and were able to explore the canals and out into Charlotte Harbor. Dolphins came by the boat. It was breathtaking. This is not a "beachy" vacation spot. There is plenty of water but no sand! The island is quiet. The only "traffic" is first thing in the morning when people are going to work. The neighbors are friendly. You really can walk to the marina, the fishing pier, two restaurants, and enjoy the Florida sunshine. Visiting Matlacha is fun. We enjoyed driving down to Lovers Key State Park/beach south of Ft. Myers. The beach was not crowded yet there are concessions. Taking the ferry to Cayo Costa is worth doing. Riding the bikes or tooling around in the golf cart is a fun way to see the island more slowly. People really are laid back. It was difficult to leave knowing we were driving home to snow. I would recommend this to anyone that does not have a problem with stairs and who enjoys a more laid back pace. I can't wait to return to Pine Island!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks so much for your kind words! So glad your family had fun on the island.

Irene was so sweet and helpful, and the house was perfect. It's spotless and has everything you could need (we really enjoyed the grill and the big flat screen tv). We had a fab time! Taxis from the Fort Myers airport are a bit pricey ($80), so i recommend renting a car.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Glad you all had a fun wedding weekend! We truly appreciate your comments:)

I just wanted to take a minute and let you know that the "Round House" was quite a treat. My wife fell in love with the kitchen and of course I liked the big screen TV system. We had a family reunion with the rest of my family staying at the Captains Cove Condo next door. We made the best of a rainy day on Friday by holding our own fishing tourney on Cayo Costa (out of the wind). Managed to make lemonade out of lemons that day! Everyone had a great time despite mother nature. The rest of the weekend were great beach days. The house was set jup really well for visitors. I appreciate the garden hose and the BBQ. Thanks again...we'll be back!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I am a little reluctant to write this glowing review becuase I really want the Round House to be available the next time we come back to the island. We have stayed on Pine Island for the past 6 years and each time has been fun, but this was the best experience yet. The House is amazing and furnished with everything you should need. There is plenty of room to stretch out and relax. We rented the boat they have available, an Action Craft, for the week and it was perfect. With the House so close to the marina, we came in at noon, walked back to the House, had lunch and cooled off before going out in the boat again. The folks at Four Winds Marina are very helpful in giving you information about boating in the local area, and the Ships Store is stocked with everything the boater or fisherperson needs. We will be back.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Thanks Gerry! Glad you all had fun and we'll look forward to next year.

Just left the Round House. This is a great house. We have stayed in rental homes in Highlands NC, Sky Valley Ga, Helen Ga, Blue Ridge Ga and St George Island FL, this was the best house we have ever rented. Plenty of room for our family. Very nice kitchen, had everything we needed. Having the "toys" in the garage is a great idea, loved the bikes. The TV and sound system were a big hit with our boys. They were able to hook up their Wii, etc. Very fun family time each evening. Great view of the sunset.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks so much! Glad you all had fun on the island ~ hope to have you visit again soon for a much longer time period.

About the owner: This home is owned by the Davis/Connelly family. We try to use it as much as possible when other folks aren't! We enjoy crusing the island on our bikes or golf cart and love to fish in Charlotte Harbor. We live in Fort Myers which makes this a perfect 'getaway'...close to home but on Island Time! Be sure to check us out on Facebook too!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Our favorite thing to do is go out in the boat and fish. We usually ALWAYS catch something and it is fun not knowing what is on your line until you pull it in. We of course, love to catch something we can eat...trout, redfish and snapper.
