Awesome is what I would say about Hale Kekela rental home. We are a local family but had family visiting here from Big Island, Utah and Oregon. Throughout the weekend we had 2 birthday parties and a small kine family retreat. This place was more than what we expected. There was more than enough room for our family. Lots of things for the kids to do like play basketball, volleyball, kickball, hide-n-seek, swim at the beach, play board games and much more. The rooms were very clean and spacious and the kitchen had everything you needed and clean. We have a big family but we were able to also have privacy amongst ourselves. Although it rained our first night, we enjoyed a night of watching movies in the parlor which was big enough for everyone to lie down comfortably. Our family couldn't stop talking about this venue and how it was a perfect place for our retreat. Friends and family who visited us also commented on this place and how spacious and clean it was. You have your own private beach access, shopping center only 5 minutes away. I could go on and on about this place. You can't go wrong with renting this place. The price was so worth it and I would very strongly recommend Hale Kekela to everyone. Thank you so much for a very fun and memorable weekend. Watch out...you might see us back again someday.

We recently stayed at Hale Kekela while on business/pleasure in Hawaii. It was perfect for all of us. Right on a beach that is totally secluded and perfect. You can just swim all day and not even be interrupted. The homes were just right for us also. They are great beach homes that just make you feel comfortable. They are spread enough so that you aren't on top of each other and have your own space. Even though only one side is air conditioned, it was enough. The rooms were great. It rained a bit and that was a bummer and that kind of brought a few flying bugs around, but nothing major. That's Hawaii what can you say!! We did our business and at the same time had a fantastic time at Hale Kekela. We will be back at the end of the year again - this time for strictly pleasure!!!! Hori

We stayed in this property from Dec 25, 2010-Jan 2, 2011. This property is dirty, bug infested and in disrepair. It is certainly not worth the money we paid to stay there. Most of the sports equipment was broken or missing parts. The vollyeball net poles rusted off and fell over. One of the gates to the Hiway was off the hinges and would not close. Many of the screens were missing or broken. The roof was leaking and one of the ceiling tiles fell down. Water was running down the inside wall of the Master bedroom and pooling on the floor. This property needs to be closed and renovated before further use. I do not recommend this property to anyone at this time.

Owner response:Although we realize we cannot please everyone, we IMMEDIATELY address any concerns that are brought to our attention. After 2 storms and endless rain it was apparent that there was slight seepage in the bedroom ceiling involving 4 tiles which drooped. The tiles did not fall to the ground and maintenance attended to it immediately by placing them back temporarily that night until we could replace the roof and ceiling area once the premises were vacated. We are currently in the process of replacing both the ceiling and roof directly over the room. Although there was slight puddling that night during the heavy rains down the chimney rock, it was only through that night and is also being repaired. We checked over all listed concerns from the above guests regarding bed bugs etc and none were to be found. Guests who accommodated the premises immediately after the above group had no complaints regarding bugs other then mosquitoes. We responded immediately to any issues regarding the screens which were fixed that very day. The Highway gate came off its hinge and was been placed back on. It is important to know that as Rental Management we deal with every concern WE ARE MADE AWARE OF immediately which is what was done here. The group that followed these particular guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Although we could not foresee the issues the weather would bring, we made every attempt that very day to rectify every concern the guests had. As we are directly on the ocean we are subject to the wear and tear of the ocean. The volleyball pole which is directly on the back yard has been removed and replaced with a portable net. We do not feel that the property needs to be closed and renovated at all in order for further occupancy to occur. It is an excellent property that hosts a large group of people who can thoroughly enjoy themselves in Hawaii if they choose to do so.

In late June-early July 2008 we had a “once in a lifetime” family reunion at Hale Kekela -- 2 grandparents, 4 adult children, 3 spouses of adult children, and 6 grandchildren ranging from 1 to 8 years old. It is absolutely the perfect place for that kind of group. We can’t rave enough about the beach in front of the house. The gentle surf was just the ideal size for everyone, from 70 year old Grandpa to the 6 little waterbug grandchildren. The “two houses in one” concept is great for any large group, especially when the covered lanai between the 2 houses is inevitably where all the non-beach social time takes place. Meal times were a cinch because while “the boys” worked the BBQ on the lanai the ladies could be handling preparing the rest of a meal in either or both kitchen. One night we had a local gentleman and his family do an authentic luau for us, with the meal being cooked in an “imu” (a pit in the ground) and the gentleman’s daughter teaching our ladies the basics of the hula. The grandchildren were intrigued with having their dinner cooked in the ground. Contact us by email for more information.

Our family of 20 from Arizona stayed here the end of May. We had our daughters wedding on the beach right in front of the house. Everything was immaculate. The houses were very clean, roomy and nice. The caretaker did a great job in seeing all of our needs were met. It is a beautiful location. You couldn't ask for a nicer spot. It was like having your own private beach. The turtles came in and swam with us the last two evenings we were there. It was amazing. The houses have more than enough room to accomodate everyone. go You couldn't ask for a better place to stay, plus everyone in the area was especially nice. Can't wait to go back.....

Our college athletic team consisting of 15 players and 3 coaches stayed at Hale Kekela for 1 week in March 2008. It was much better than staying at a hotel (and less expensive). We ate breakfasts in and enjoyed waking up to the sound of surf every morning. The players enjoyed relaxing on the beach, playing volleyball, swimming, and playing ping pong during their free time. The facilities were everything we hoped for and more! We even had a team BBQ on the patio for 25 people one night (including all the parents). Mahalo to John the caretaker for keeping an eye on the property while we were away competing against other Universities in Oahu. Thanks also to Tania for your advice and hospitality.

We got married at the Hale Kekela beach house. It was absolutely beautiful. The yard is huge and right up against the beach. We had enough room to create a ceremony and reception area for 80 guests! Also, there is a beach park located less than a half-mile from the house that has a lot of parking for a big gathering. We also had a great time hanging out with our bridal party, who all stayed with us for three nights afterwards. Overall our stay was awesome and it was the wedding of my dreams. The staff is great and will help you with anything you need!

I recently got married at Hale Kekela with about seventy guests in attendance. The staff, facilities, weather, etc. were great! We topped if off by spending three nights at Hale Kekela with 20 members of our closest friends and family. I could not have asked for a better time. I highly recommend Hale Kekela if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle and spend some quality time with friends and family in a beautiful Hawaiian setting.

We had a large group (19 people) and stayed for a 7 nights. It was great! Both houses were full and everyone was comfortable. The kitchens in both houses are large and the common lanai was perfect for evening meals together. The beach is outstanding. Great for kids and adults alike. We commented to each other that you'll probabably never find a larger beach with so few people around. We spent many hours on the beach. Don't forget your boogie-boards! The staff was great too. Excellent management and caretaker. Friendly is an understatement. If you're looking for a place to host a large group, this is it. We were very happy.

I have nothing but good things to say about our recent stay (Oct 2007) at Hale Kekela. We had a family reunion that consisted of 17 adults, and there was plenty of room for everybody. Being on the beach afforded memorable sunrises, early morning body surfing, snorkeling and snuggling. Had the trade winds not been blowing, a BBQ on the beach would have been a great time too. The Lanai is a wonderful place to gather outside to eat. Blocked from the wind by windows facing the beach it easily allowed for all of us to join together for meals, stories and games. The house is equipped with a good amount of cooking utensils and other necessities. Be sure to stock up at Costco (or equal) before you come to fill up the fridges and the cupboards. Paper products are not necessary, but convenient. Baggies (large and small) are a must for leftovers. A sport court outside gives you many games to play, and all of the equipment is located in the guesthouse closets. On site laundry facilities means bringing less clothes and having more room to take home souvenirs. This was my first time to Hawaii and Hale Kekela made this trip excellent. The new management team is great at what they do, and are very accommodating – even offering their own kayaks, etc., to make our time spent there that much more enjoyable. I would recommend Hale Kekela to anybody…especially if going to the Polynesian Cultural Center (PCC) and staying in a not-so-crowded area is part of your vacation plans.

"Hale Kekela" is a great place to stay, especially if you have a lot of family and friends. The kids especially loved it because there's so much for them to do! From the court to the yard leading into the beautiful sandy beach! We celebrated my baby's 1st birthday and the house was very entertaining! There was nothing but great comments from family and friends! Rooms are clean and cozy, 2 full kitchens, washer and dryer too! More than enough bathrooms! The staff is also very welcoming and friendly! We're looking foward to staying there again! Feel free to contact me via email if you have any questions! We loved it! And I know whoever decides to stay will too!
