  Great place for multiple families. We went with friend of ours and it was great. We had 4 adults and 8teenagers. Plenty of room to accommodate everyone and right on the beach. The kids were able to boggie board, skin board and paddle board as much as they wanted. Mary and Wayne are wonderful to deal with and checked on us at our arrival to make sure everything was going well. There is a beach rental store within walking distance and some great places to eat. We ate at Christiano's, Stinky's Fish Camp both in Santa Rosa and The Red Bar and Another Broken Egg in Grayton beach which were all wonderful. We took day trips to both Seaside and Destin for shopping. Would definitely stay here again!!!

  Great Expectations was every bit as advertised, pictured, described and more! This week for us was to vacation, rest, regroup, and start to heal as a family and that we did. We found the home beautifully furnished and decorated, sooo loved the original artwork throughout, and the heated pool very much appreciated and enjoyed. To awake with the sounds and view of the ocean was just wonderful and just heaven a few more steps away to be walking in it. Mary was fantastic to deal with, answering promptly my numerous emails and leaving me nothing to question. We found alot to do in the area such as great restaurants, interesting shops, and renting bicycles to enjoy see the area even more. This was our first visit to the Beaches of South Walton and what a great week even in the middle of February with jeans and sweatshirts! We found the area very accessible and quiet this time of year.

  Our Sunday School class just had a beach retreat at Great Expectations. What a wonderful house that really worked well for our group. Nice amenities with a well stocked kitchen (pots and pans and dishes) if you are inclined to cook. Two refrigerators plus a separate ice maker. Beautiful views from the deck off the great room. It was a little chilly, but we bundled up and sat outside! Thanks so much Mary & Wayne.

  This is a great house - good location - wonderful set up - owners very responsive to any issues that might come up. While you can certainly squeeze in lots of bodies, we found that with 5 folks splitting the bill, it was affordable and everyone had plenty of privacy. Terrific that 3 of the bedrooms were on the gulf side, and that everyone had their own bathroom and there was the half bath for guests popping by. Great Expectations exceeded our epectations.

  "Great Expectations" is a beautiful beach house in a gorgeous stretch of beach. There were 12 women who have been friends since high school (some even longer) who wanted to get away and "catch up" somewhere on a beach in a beach house. After some searching I found Great Expectations. From the moment we walked through the door, and out to the terrace over-looking the gulf, I knew this was going to be a perfect place for us! The house is lovely and so comfortable, the decor beautiful. The view from the third floor balcony is breath-taking. The shades of blue water, from turquoise to a deep shade of blue is stunning! The owners, Mary and Wayne were wonderful to work with. Mary gave suggestions to enhance our stay in the Gulf and even had the pool heated for us so that it was perfect for swimming the moment we arrived. We all had such a fabulous time, I am hoping to return again with my family next time! Love, love, loved it!

  Mary and Wayne, With our rush to pack up, I failed to write in the guest book how much all of our family enjoyed our stay at Great Expectations. We loved the house, had plenty of space and loved the layout of the large living area. With the really cool October nightly temps, the heated pool was a real pleasure. I appreciate your helpfulness in getting us all taken care of. Thanks for the nearby restaurant suggestions - we loved being close enough to walk there several times for lunch and dinner.   We enjoyed a perfect vacation at this great home on a fantastic stretch of Dune Allen beach. The owners were a pleasure to deal with and made everything easy. The home has plenty of room for a large family or 2 families (5 bedrooms, one of which includes several bunk beds), and the combination of a swimming pool and the location right on the beach is ideal. Dune Allen is a wonderful white sand beach, just far enough away from the developments of Destin to feel like you're really getting away from it all.

  This home is EXACTLY how you would hope it would be and just like it looks in pictures! We came to the Destin area to renew our wedding vows with close friends and family. We searched high and low for the perfect house for all of us to stay. The home was perfect! We never felt cramped and the views were fantastic...morning, noon, or night. And plenty of dophin sightings too! I would recommend GREAT EXPECTATIONS over and over again for a large family and friends gathering. Oh, and the Pool was gorgeous too!!

  Our stay this summer was wonderful! The beaches are being kept clean and the people in the area are so grateful and appreciative of our support. If you are debating about going this summer, go! We had a special time and are so thankful we didn't listen to all the bad press on the Gulf.

  Mary and Wayne THANK YOU!! What a week we had. We absolutely loved your home. We were all so devistated to leave. The kids asked to stay forever. This was a new location for us as we had not traveled to the panhandle before. We were considering renting in Destin when I stumbled upon your property and boy are we glad we did. The quaintness of 30A is unexplainable. Amazing shops, restaurants(especially Miss Lucille's gossip shop and beach bar) and the people too. The house is fantastic and the beach is just as nice as the carribean if not better. The house was a fantastic set up. The kitchen was great for preparing meals and really has it all. You could not ask for anything more. The convenience of the outside showers for the kids was great and the separate ice maker and second frig were a big hit too. They went form the pool to the beach all day and were as happy as could be. Thank you again for your amazing vacation at great expectations.
