Take in a deep breath of the clean, crisp mountain air as you look out the six windows onto the vast valley that lies before you. The sky looks as if it will never end, and your mind can wonder as it considers what stories the rock out-croppings could tell if they chose to speak. You could sit on the deck for hours reading, visiting, enjoying your coffee or tea--or even dinner--or just watch the world pass by and be rejuvenated by more than the mind can capture.
OR - If you are ready to interact with Colorado, you are only a short jaunt to an amazing hiking trail, an hour to skiing at Breckenridge or Monarch, 20 minutes to low-stakes gambling, antiquing, touring the Molly Kathleen Gold Mine and experiencing the truly breathtaking views of three of Colorado's mountain ranges.
OR - 25 minutes to Woodland Park, the City Above the Clouds and enjoy High-Altitude Golfing, the Dinosaur Museum for children of all ages, craft and art shows, antique shops, western clothing store, movie theater, super-markets, gift shops, movie rentals, hairdressers, massage therapy and fast food outlets.
OR - Continue North on Highway 67 to gold-medal fishing on the South Platte or go West to Eleven Mile Canyon for fishing or boating. World class four-wheeling, mountain biking and hiking are right out your front door or in the hundreds of acres of National Forest that surround you.
AND - You won't want to miss a trip to Colorado Springs--an hour away--to enjoy shopping in "Old Colorado City." a hike and/or picnic in Garden of the God's, a tour of the USAF Academy and the US Olympic Center and Focus on the Family. And don't forget Seven Falls, Cave of the Winds, the Cliff Dwellings, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, and Manitou Springs--a destination in itself for shopping, gazing, enjoying the soda springs fountains, the parks, lunch or dinner at any of the exclusive restaurants, pubs or health food restaurants. You will pass by the access to Pikes Peak when descending the pass at Cascade. Take a morning to enjoy a trip up 14,110 feet--the inspiration for "America the Beautiful"--and look for Kansas to the east!
Oh yeah, and don't forget to hike around the Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument, Mueller State Park or the Crags! ENJOY COLORADO!! |
