Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2006
We lived in northern California near the beach before making the break to Mexico. Now we are happily retired, living in a gorgeous part of the world, with many interesting friends and no shortage of things to do.
Why the Owner Chose Guanajuato
The climate in Guanajuato is as close to perfect as you are going to find. And with all the world-class cultural opportunities ... theater, music, movies ... well, it's a beautiful way to live!
The Unique Benefits of this House
Casita Hermosa is in a great part of town. Guanajuato is built in a series of canyons dotted with haciendas and mines dating back to the 1500's when this area was first discovered by Spanish explorers. We are at the end of one of the canyons, close enough to easily walk anywhere but with the tranquility of country living. The view we enjoy is of unspoiled mountain beauty and incredible Colonial architecture. With 500+ year-old walls in the hacienda below, we also sit across from the ruins of Mina San Vicente and below the still active Mina de Rayas, with the Mellado church perched above. It is the perfect combination of country, city and history!

A delighful Casita, very private & in a peaceful situation. Amanda & Ron were brilliant hosts, yet never intrusive. They had lots of advice & recommendations to help us get the most from our stay. Ron invited us to join him on his evening walk, wihich gave us a perfect orientation. Guanajuato is a facinating town, easily reached by walking down from the Casita. You will find good cafe's & a colourful market. We had a really great time & plan to return to explore this beautiful area further. The Casita will make a perfect base.

Casita Vista Hermosa is a great spot from which to enjoy your visit to Guanajuato. Within walking distance to centro, but up and out of the commotion when you need a break. A very comfortable and relaxing casita, with wonderful views up and down the ravine (a side ravine to the main one of the city) and beyond to the mountains. The fireplaces are a nice additon when the tile gets cooler. The landscaping of the property adds to the ambience and tranquility. The owners are very knowledgable about the city and surrounding area. They are very helpful and gladly answer questions. From our travels Guanajuato is one of the gems of Mexico. To stay in a casita with the amenities and comfort of Vista Hermosa only enhances a stay in this magical city

Just what we badly needed after a Winter of health problems. Unfortunately, we had to go home a week early to resume medical treatments which are now successfuly past, We're hoping to return for another stay in the future in this lovely guest cottage - very attractive and well maintained. (Only suggestion - small oven or toaster oven which would better facilitate meal preparation. ) Amanda and Ron are extremely gracious and helpful hosts.. A lovely place to stay.
Owner response:Great idea! The casita now has a good sized toaster oven. Thanks... and hope to see you again soon! Amanda
