Dolphins Dance is a lovely, fully equipped, gulf view, pet friendly townhouse in Barrier Dunes, which is located right next to a state park on Cape San Blas. We first visited Cape San Blas (and the Florida Panhandle) in April 2007, fell in love with the unspoiled beauty of the area, and bought Dolphins Dance. We picked this particular townhouse because it has a gulf view, is a one minute walk to the beach, and it backs on a small lake which makes the two back decks, one covered and one open, completely private. These two large back decks get the morning sun, making them a great place to enjoy morning coffee. It is an end unit in a very quiet part of Barrier Dunes and yet one of the closest units to the beach, less than a minute to the beach and oceanfront pool. It has two bicycles and beach gear and is our home away from home, so it has everything guests could ever want or need!
The beach is pristine, fine white sand. You can walk for miles. The beach is also super dog friendly and the water near Dolphins Dance is shallow close to shore, making it an excellent place for small children and dogs to play in the surf. I have also seen many teenagers enjoying skim boarding in the shallow water close to shore.
Barrier Dunes itself is ideally situated on the Cape, right next to the entrance to St. Joe's Peninsula State Park with its many hiking, biking, wildlife viewing and beach exploring opportunities. An excellent location also to take a canoe or kayak and explore the wildlife rich back bay. There is also a boat launch, so whether you bring your own boat, and yes, there is parking available for a boat at Dolphins Dance, or whether you rent a boat, you can do so easily and conveniently.
Dolphins Dance is close to two small picturesque and interesting small towns, Apalachicola to the east and Port St. Joe to the west. You will find restaurants, shops, and sporting activities galore close by. Go horseback riding right on the Cape. Rent a power boat or go deep sea fishing. It's all nearby. There is also an excellent golf course 15 minutes away.
Dolphins Dance is clean, super comfy and absolutely fully equipped.

- Lanai : Off the living room, private, overlooking the lake, covered. Dolphins Dance overlooks a lake so you view the lake from the back decks instead of other back decks. I love feeding the turtles from here.

- Beach View : From the front balcony you can see the gulf of Mexico and the beach. You can hear the surf while you sleep. This deck faces west.
- Ocean View : The front bedroom and front balcony have a view of the gulf.
- Lakefront : Dolphins Dance backs on a small lake with a fountain which is stocked with fish and you can fish right from Dolphins Dance back decks! There are two lovely private decks overlooking the lake. One is covered and the other is open. Both get glorious morning sun. The lake also has other wildlife such as turtles and varied birds. My website shows a photo of a Great Blue Heron standing on the fishing pier in the lake, just steps from Dolphins Dance. It also has a shot of some baby turtles sunning themselves on a tire placed there as a turtle swimming platform.

- Pet Friendly : Pets are welcome! The beach is the most amazing pet friendly beach. The water is very shallow close to shore, making it ideal for dogs that like the sand as well as the surf on the beach..
- Kid Friendly : There is a playground and tennis courts and of course the two pools. But the best feature is the fantastic beach which is quite shallow near shore - perfect for small children and great for skim boarding.

Why the Owner Chose Barrier Dunes
My husband and I have visited many parts of Florida and we love the state. We bought a timeshare in southern Florida when our daughter was young and have enjoyed it for many years. In 2007 we visited the Florida Panhandle for the first time and absolutely fell in love with it. Cape San Blas has an amazing beach - pristine fine white sand and totally uncrowded. We decided we wanted a place to spend winters when we retire and we knew we had found the perfect place. We have a few years to go before retirement, but we spend as much time as we can on the Cape! I hope you will enjoy the Cape as much as we do!
The Unique Benefits at this Townhome
We love Cape San Blas because it has an amazing beach and it is so much less crowded than areas of Florida that are further south. Dolphins Dance is in a small community of townhouses which is right on the beach and it has two pools and tennis courts too. The two nearby towns of Port St. Joe and Apalachicola are fun to visit and we love the local shops and restaurants (not chains) in both. The people are super friendly, easy to get to know and obviously love the area as well. Dolphins Dance is located right next to the entrance to the St. Joe Peninsula state park and we really enjoy hiking and biking in the park and walking the beach. We both enjoy birding and nature viewing as well and the whole peninsula is wonderful for both. There are many opportunities to enjoy water sports nearby and one thing we really like to do is take a kayak into the back bay.

My husband Tom and I both work full time and dream of Florida and Cape San Blas. We love being outdoors and Cape San Blas and the surrounding area is perfect. We like exploring the countryside and parks and wildlife areas and the Panhandle is a great place to explore. We love animals and we bring our cats with us on holiday, so we want others to be able to bring their animal companions too.

This was the first time to the Cape and it was so beautiful! The condo was very easy to find and located in such a great location. It has everything one needs to enjoy time away from home. We really enjoyed the rear patios overlooking a pond in the backyard. The water fountain was soooo relaxing. The walk to the beach was short and pleasant even at night. The grill and beach chairs you so kindly let us use made our stay that much better. We took home so many memories from Dolphins Dance and The Cape. Thanks so much for working with us on such short notice. I wont hesitate to recommend Double D to friends and family. I just hope to get back there before they do :)

I found this property via this web site and I was first intriqued by the name, as I love dolphins. After I contacted the owner, I promptly received information that the week I had requested was available and my vacation was booked in February. Once I arrived, everything that I had viewed and read about the property was before me. I was not disappointed! I can't say enough how wonderful it is. The townhouse is beautifully decorated and there was not anything I needed that wasn't there. The beach is lovely and my dogs had a great time. I will certainly return again!

This was our second trip to Barrier Dunes and the best by far. Cathy's townhouse is everything you could ask for...kitchen well equipped, furniture and beds most comfortable and all the latest electronics. We booked for the entire month of February and still would have liked to stay longer. Hunter (our Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever) just loves being able to run on the beautiful beach. Cape San Blas is so laid back compared to the rest of Florida. No traffic and the locals are great. The only disappointment is the condo is already booked for next year...maybe in 2013!

We had a fantastic stay at Dolphin's Dance in Barrier Dunes! We found the condo without any problem. Cathy was very helpful and check-in was simple. It was exactly as pictured and even better! The condo was super clean and had everything we needed. The kitchen had all the extras for anything we wanted to cook. The beds were very comfortable and the showers were great. We really liked having the outdoor shower for when we came in from the beach. Being on the end we had so much privacy and loved all the decks. The furniture was so comfy and enjoyed the nice tv and all the games and books on the rainy days. Every room was decorated so tastefully. It was great for the kids to be able to ride their bikes around without worrying about traffic and lots of people. They also loved fishing right off the deck and watching the turtles in the pond. The beach was gorgeous and not crowded!! Just a few minutes walk to get there. The water in the ocean was cold but the boys wore wet suits and had a blast with the boogie boards. Really made use of all the beach chairs and toys provided. We visited St Joseph's Park which was beautiful and just down the road. Went to St Vincent Island and found tons of beautiful seashells. Fishing with Captain Dwayne of Book A Charter was so much fun! He was so patient and great with the kids! We caught twenty one fish in the bay. Would definitely recommend Joe Mama's Pizza and Pepper's in Port St. Joe. Hope we can come back next year and stay at Dolphin's Dance! The Fox Family, Washington,INDIANA

We really enjoyed our long weekend stay at this townhome. Leading up to the trip, our interactions with the owner were pleasant and she was very helpful in answering our questions so we'd be sure we'd have what we needed when we got there. We arrived without incident and were pleasantly surprised by what we found. The directions and check-in/check-out procedures were detailed and easy to follow. The townhome itself is tastefully decorated and very clean. My only real concern before arrival was that it might be difficult going to and from the beach with a lot of gear. I think it strikes a good balance between being close enough to be convenient but not so close you have to deal with the traffic of everyone else passing by your doorstep. We loved being able to take along our small dog. The neighborhood is well kept and we never felt insecure, even walking the dog late at night by the light of streetlamps. Dog service stations are strategically located throughout the development, one very close to this unit. Having the state park close by is a nice bonus to what the neighborhood already offers. There's a well-stocked little convenience store a few miles away. We definitely would stay here again and would recommend it to friends.

Dolphins Dance is a great condo at Barrier Dunes, one of the last developments on Cape San Blas before the state park. The Cape has not been over developed and I hope it stays that way! Cathy and Tom have provided everything you need for a wonderful beach vacation and their unit is roomy, clean, and very well maintained. Beach gear is provided and there are several access points to the beach from the complex. Our Labrador Retriever had as much fun as we did on the dog friendly beach. We dream of another visit to the Cape; it had been entirely too long since our last one. Thanks for offering such a terrific place to stay!

Cathy, Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful townhouse with us. We really felt at home there.It was so comfy. The sofa and oversized chair was sooo comfy. I like the decor and loved your dolphin candleholders. All the extras were so nice. I really over packed. The beach stuff you provide was really nice.Never had that any where else. I also loved having a washer and dryer in the unit. It was so nice not to haul clothes back and forth, and not to come home with dirty clothes. Nemo liked the beach if he was sitting in our laps. Nemo does not like to get his feet wet, (He is soooo spoiled)He just liked being with us. Krystal really enjoyed the beach.This is the 1st year she has not wanted to go to the pool. She loved the beach, it is so beautiful! The prettiest I've ever seen that's no lie. The sand was gorgeous, the water was so clear, there was no seaweed or jellyfish. The waves were so beautiful and the shells! You can not find shells like that in other places in Fla. or Ala.It was really nice to see all the dogs. We will be back. Thank you so much for sharing your piece of paradise with us, I remember reading somewhere on your web to leave a spice if you like. Hi Cathy, Sorry I have not replied sooner. It has been hectic as usual as we catch up from being away. We did have a wonderful time on the Cape. This was our 4th time staying in Barrier Dunes and my whole family agreed that Dolphin's Dance was the nicest of the units we have rented. The unit was clean, comfortable and well maintained. The beach toys, umbrellas, chairs and bikes supplemented what we brought-it was nice to have extras. I did bring my boat and it worked out very nicely being able to easily park it under the unit. I also appreciate your being so helpful and friendly. For any future trips to Barrier Dunes, we will have you at the top of our list. Thanks again, Jimmy and family

ey Cathy! Just wanted to tell you thanks again for allowing us to stay in your townhouse in Cape San Blas, FL. It was very nice and we all enjoyed ourselves very much. We absolutely loved the beach. We loved how the kids could play in the ocean and we didn't have to really worry about them getting to deep. It was great. Your townhouse was beautiful and we enjoyed very much your allowing us to play with the beach toys. We have never had the opportunity to try boogie board and we tried.....key word "tried" but we had fun doing it. We saw all sorts of hermit crabs in the bay in St. Joseph's Peninsula State Park. We saw 5 deer on the beach. I never would have thought that we could see deer on the beach. I just didn't have my camera!!!! We traveled to Appalachicola one day and saw the fishing boats. That was pretty neat. (Only get to see those in the movies, hahaha) We really enjoyed visiting Cape San Blas, FL. Barrier Dunes is a wonderful place to stay, especially with small children. Oh, one more thing, my husband and I rode the bicycles to Coneheads one evening, for our date night and we really enjoyed doing that. We felt free and almost like kids again, just riding and being silly. We loved it and almost wished we had done it sooner, but with 2 small children, it's hard to do that. Thankfully, my mom offered to watch them 1 night so we could get away by ourselves. Thanks again, Cathy, for allowing us to have such a wonderful experience. (My mom found what is called "The Crucifix Fish" just lying on the sand in the St. Joseph's Bay. That was pretty cool too.) Thanks, Staci

Cathy: We arrived today around 3:00. Dolphins Dance is all you said it would be and more. I love all of the little finishing knick knacks!! Each room is special. The pictures did not do it justice. Thanks for sharing your beautiful place with us. Fantastic place, has everything we need, enjoying the pool and beach, tried fishing but the turtles ate most of the bait..Yesterday had a beautiful sunset. I can't believe our stay has gone this fast, but we will have some great memories of Cape San Blas and your home... Susan
