We offer an apartment in our home in San Miguel de Allende. The apartment has spacious rooms that open to a courtyard paved with stone. Upstairs is another apartment. From the second floor there is access to the roof terrace and it's views of the city and the nearby mountains. Both apartments have open access to the roof.

The apartment consists of a good size bedroom with its attached bathroom and large closet and the common room with sitting area, dining area and complete kitchen with new appliances. Both bedroom and common room open to the courtyard.

The apartment is decorated in the lively colors of Mexico and the furnishings are a combination of Mexican and eclectic styles. Mexican folk art adorns the rooms and walls.

Each room has a new propane gas heater to take the chill off cool nights and mornings. The bed has a down comforter and electric mattress pad as well.

Our house is in a Mexican neighborhood about a 10 minute walk to the Instituto Allende and 20 minutes to the Jardin (town center). Speaking Spanish is helpful if you want to converse with your neighbors but not essential in San Miguel. There are other North Americans scattered throughout the neighborhood. There is a well stocked "super mercado" about a mile away with many gourmet treats and on our street are two little "tiendas" (stores) with basic food items.

Our home has a water purification system throughout the entire house. Hot water is supplied by a solar hot water system with a gas water heater as backup. Also, the water system is pressurized.

Pets will be considered based on size and breed. Give us a call!

We are just completing our third year of spending a month at Casa Roja. That should sum up how we feel about our home away from home. The hosts are excellent and the quarters are extremely comfortable and pleasant. Since the house is quite new, all the 'systems' are in great working order(not always the case in MX). One of the nicest advantages is having the lovely guest room available for our friends at a most reasonable cost. Also, the location is superior---the distance from El Jardin makes for a healthy walk each day and provides for a quiet night's sleep. Added bonuses are the restful and spacious well-planted garden and the beautiful view of the sunset over the mountains. Many thanks to our hosts who have designed such a wonderful abode in a magical town!

PERFECT STAY

We have stayed in San Miguel de Allende several times, in Calle Reloj, San Antonio, Los Frailes and... in "Casa Roja". "Casa Roja" is without any doubt the best place to stay, we keep coming back (this is already our 3th time). The house is very beautiful and has all the luxuries you need (incl. a long distance phone with "free" calls). It's not in the centre but a short walk takes you to the Instituto and the heart of San Miguel. The location is very convenient to go to the Tuesday market as well since there is a busstop in front. The owners are extremely helpful and friendly and make us feel at home. Paul and Jane you can give our email address to anyone who might be interested in renting your home in the future and we will give it our highest recommendation ! Thanks for everything. Piet and Marleen

When I travel all the way to a foreign country I want to make sure the place I am staying at is clean, nicely furnished and makes me feel good to be there. I can say without a doubt that this place is a gem! We stayed for a month and everyday was a delight to wake up to. The kitchen and living room are wonderful with really cute furnishings and a big dining table. Having the TV in there with cable channels and movies was great at night. Our bedroom was really spacious and comfortable and the adjoining bathroom was adorable with its handmade tiles and sinks. Plus it had a GREAT shower with lots of hot water (not always the case in Mexico). There is a fountain in the beautifully landscaped courtyard right outside all the rooms with a patio dining area. There is a grocery store around the corner and a vegetable stand on the weekend. We walked to town every day and to dinner every night with no problem. This was the perfect place to stay and we plan to come back often. It is an amazing value. -Rogene Manas, Eugene, OR

We have stayed in SMA several times. Once in Calle Reloj (close to the centre) and once in San Antonio but there is no doubt that our stay in "Casa Roja" is the best ever. This house is very beautiful and the owners are extremely helpful and friendly. We felt at home instantly. It has all the luxuries you will need. This location is very convenient to go to the Tuesday market as well since there is a busstop in front. For us this was the perfect place to stay and hopefully some day we will be able to return. Paul and Jane... thanks for everything.

And a city bus goes right by the house and takes you downtown for about 40¢. This was the perfect place to stay and we plan to come back every year. It is an amazing value.
