The perfect base to explore Vilnius from

Excellent stay and experience! We stayed here in early October for almost a week - good, clean apartment at a great price! This is the perfect location to explore Vilnius from. It is literally in the heart of Old Town - everything is within easy walking distance. It's an incredible value for the price given its location. In addition, there's a very well stocked small market just across the square to buy food and drinks if you ever want to eat in. Plenty of cafes and restaurants within a minute or two walk. The heated floors and heated towel racks are a nice touch in the bathroom. Also, we were able to pick up free wifi from the cafe/restaurant on the corner.

we spent 2.5 weeks here this past summer and couldn't be more pleased. Friends stayed at a cold hotel with limited amenities and wished they had gone with an apartment after visiting us. Loved the location, the accommodations were great. They included most of the comforts of home. Good beds and pillows, music, ample dishes, pots and kitchen utensils, washing machine and storage space. Nice treats in the refrigerator. And the place was clean. Couldn't get more than 2 stations on the TV, but at least we got to watch some Lithuanian TV. The only complaints were the low water pressure in the shower and couldn't get a decent wifi signal in the apartment, so ended up going to cafe's for internet use. Amatininku, the cafe below the apt, had free wifi. The caretaker was very accommodating and helpful. The place was just as you'd expect of older european buildings. If you want to be where the action is, this is the place. Rimi, the supermarket chain across the street had everything we needed. Thank you for sharing your home with us. I think next time I'll opt for Baltic, the larger apt as there was a decent wifi signal there.

Owner response:Thank you very much for your kind review, I immediately looked into the low water pressure and found that the hard water in the old town had left some calcium deposits in the holes of the shower head. The shower heads were cleared of this calcium and all is "back to normal" - hot flowing water. Thank you again and I look forward to being of assistance to you during your next visit.

My husband and I recently stayed in one of the apartments, unfortunatly the pics on the this site was not the apartment we got. We were very upset when we entered the filthy, smelly entrance to the building. The actual apartment was dreary with cracked plaster and peeling paint. The furnishings could use a much needed upgrade. We hat no HOT water the whole time were there. When we complained about it all we got were excuses and appoligies. The landlord did hope that we enjoyed the "romantic double shower". Romanitc, COLD shower??? Not so much. The only positive comment I can muster is the location was great, but we found much nicer places in the same area. Would NOT recommend.

Owner response:With all due respect, firstly, the apartment featured in the vrbo posting is not the one you rented. It was clear to you that the featured apartment was already rented out and you were offered a less expensive alternative nearby. This was made very clear upfront and you accepted this alternative. The hot water issue is a complete fabrication. The hot water was tested before you arrived - worked just fine, and tested after you left - worked just fine once again. As you know, all of the central part of Vilnius' old town gets their hot water from a single central heating station and city's municipal water heating station was working for the whole period of your stay. You did complain and I immediately called back and offered an "out". You chose to stay and said all would be "OK". Your present comments are completely unfounded based on your desire to stay even after I offered you other options. My only question is if things were so bad and "much nicer places in the same area" were found, why did you not accept the option to leave and stay at one of those alternative places? I guess things were not nearly as bad as you state or you would have immediately left. Likewise, you were probably unwilling to pay the significantly higher costs for the 5***** hotel lodging you describe, as opposed to comfortable "independent" 2** lodging. This is the first time ever someone has commented in such a manner and I've been renting for 15+ years. I'm guessing you are unfairly venting some other frustrations with your trip on me. That said, I am sorry you did not find what you were looking for. I wish you better luck in your future travels.

What a fantastic find. I recently (October 2008) spent 7 nights here, and I couldn't have been more pleased. There is a lot of space, making it great for a couple or family. Extra towels, blankets and linens are provided, as are a hair dryer, alarm clock, and washing machine. Guests are greeted with some snacks and drinks, so you don't have to run out immediately after a long flight to find something to eat. But if you want to, a grocery store is right across the square. While in Vilnius, I also had a chance to check out one of the leading hotels, and I have to admit that I would much prefer to stay in this apartment. For the price, you can't beat the location and price. It's a great place to stay!
